401  Economy / Goods / Re: Spend Bitcoins (worldwide) | Buy Bitcoins (Australia) on: January 14, 2012, 07:50:48 AM
Hmm... it's been more than 12 hours and I still haven't received any notification email nor anything within my paypal account... anything abnormal?

Yes. Can you please email jeremyATspendbitcoins.com with the amount and bitcoin address you sent the payment to?
402  Economy / Goods / Re: Spend Bitcoins (worldwide) | Buy Bitcoins (Australia) on: January 13, 2012, 10:14:15 PM
How long does a Paypal cashout generally take?

Anywhere between 1 minute and 12 hours (to account for the fact that I may be out or sleeping--most importantly sleeping as I am on Australian time).
403  Economy / Goods / Re: Spend Bitcoins (worldwide) | Buy Bitcoins (Australia) on: January 13, 2012, 12:18:37 PM
Question:

Is there a possibility that you would accept a Mt.Gox USD voucher for its equivalent (minus fees, of course) in paypal?

Hi there,

Sorry, no, we only accept bitcoins.

Thanks,
Jeremy

My before Christmas book arrival is still in the delivery chain, as seen above. I'm beginning to wonder if DHL's business model is based on that Just in Time for New Years Christmas Special production crew's scheduling, or versa visa.

TENDERED TO USPS

Note that the book has now been converted to handed off to the USPS in the BookExplorer above after completing 7 confirmations. I will keep you a leg abreast of further developments.

PLEASE NOTE that this has nothing to do with http://spendbitcoins.com who will get nothing BUT a positive feedback from me.

Did you ever get your book?
406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [RESOLVED] Missing transaction to customer on: January 11, 2012, 01:54:53 AM
Hi everyone,

Just hoping someone can help a customer of mine. I sent her 72.32 to address 13xAfVDRKXfiwJQDg91GycFZEkLXvPCGrF several hours back and according to http://blockexplorer.com/address/13xAfVDRKXfiwJQDg91GycFZEkLXvPCGrF it shows up in block 161600.

Her client, which was up to block 161612 last I heard from her, still does not show the payment in her wallet. Does anyone know why this might be or what I can do to help her?

Thanks!
Jeremy

EDIT: She forgot that she gave me a Mt Gox address, not an address from her client. She's received her funds just fine. Smiley

Why can't I do an internet transfer to buy bitcoins in Australia?

Because bitcoin transactions are non-reversible and bank transfers are reversible. Technocash was previously doing bank transfers to Mt Gox for Australians and had their accounts frozen by NAB due to fraud complaints. By only allowing cash deposits, we are protecting ourselves from having the same thing happen to us, which means we can stay in business. We realise this is a lot less convenient, but unfortunately it is necessary to keep the business running.

We have big things planned, and our current programmers are too busy with their full-time jobs to get things going as quickly as we want.

If you are a web developer, well-versed in not only front-end but also backend programming of secure websites and browser extensions, and would like to come on-board as a partner with a stake in the company, please email a resume (of sorts--doesn't have to be formal) to jeremyATspendbitcoins.com to get the conversation going.

I have moved this to project development because we are attempting to create something new.

Here's the idea:

A browser extension includes bookmarks to all of our affiliate pages (http://links.spendbitcoins.com) and allows you to spend bitcoins on all those pages without having to go to the Spend Bitcoins site. If you have the technical skills & time to set this up, we want you on-board as our new partner! Please email or PM us ASAP.

Thanks!
Jeremy

There's some talk over here about doing some Bitcoin integration with Amazon via userscripts.  Would you be interested in providing an API to facilitate this?  Even if the purchaser has to wait on a manual fulfillment from you, it would be nice to have near-seamless integration.

As for your affiliate accounts, is there a way to link the order to you even if it is almost finished?

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I like your spendbitcoins site; thanks for your work!

Hey there,

We're working on a browser extension that does just that, and uses a pull-down menu to go to Spend Bitcoins affiliate links for all your bitcoin spending needs.

Your script may be a big help in getting the extension done. Thanks!

We're looking for a web developer to get this going ASAP. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=57275.0

We're actually working on something very similar... for a lot more than just Amazon.

Wonderful... hope it gets done soon Smiley

Looking for a programmer to make it happen ASAP. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=57275.0

412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Idea: Userscript for Bitcoin integration into Amazon on: January 08, 2012, 10:26:02 AM
Cool idea!  Here's a stab at replacing the prices, with a hardcoded exchange rate.  Hover to see original price.  Tested in Chrome and Firefox, it seems to get most prices; I've noticed some that get loaded after the page has loaded don't get replaced.  I'm not sure the best way to handle that.  It's only USD right now.

Code:
// ==UserScript==
// @name           Amazon Bitcoins
// @namespace      joeyhewitt
// @description    Show prices on Amazon in Bitcoin
// @match          http://www.amazon.com/*
// @match          https://www.amazon.com/*
// ==/UserScript==

// https://gist.github.com/437513

(function(callback) {
    var script = document.createElement("script");
    script.textContent = "(" + callback.toString() + ")(jQuery);";
    document.body.appendChild(script);
})(function($) {

    var BTCPerUSD = 6.59;
    var convertUSD = function(text) {
        return text.replace(/\$\d+(\.\d\d)?/g, function(USD) {
            return (parseFloat(USD.substring(1)) / BTCPerUSD).toFixed(2)+ ' BTC';
        });
    };

    $('.t14, .price, .priceLarge, .listprice, .tmm_olpLinks>a, #actualPriceExtraMessaging, .fionaBuyBox font, .t11, .mbcPriceCell, .plusShippingText').each(function() {
        var $priceEl = $(this);
        var originalPriceText = $priceEl.text();
        var btcPriceText = convertUSD(originalPriceText);
        $priceEl.hover( function() { $(this).text(originalPriceText); },
                        function() { $(this).text(btcPriceText) } );
        $priceEl.text(btcPriceText);
    });

});
click to install

As for the actual purchasing part, http://spendbitcoins.com/ takes BTC and gives Amazon gift codes in several currencies.  If they could provide an AJAXable API for price quotes and retrieving the code (including updates on them waiting for confirmations, etc.), we'd be mostly done, right?

EDIT: Updated code and link

Wow! Just downloaded the script. Pretty cool! This should help us big time in finishing up our browser extension. Thanks!

cool, next question then:

do you have the cashflow to be able to pay a $5000 bill... or, what would be a reasonable limit to assume?

Not a problem.

Happy spending!

are their no limits at all?

is their a limit to the number of transaction we can do per day?

There are no hard limits. $5000 would be a good guide. There is no limit to the number of transactions.

If you happen to make an order for more than I have on hand for the particular method you have chosen, I reserve the right to give you the option of waiting a day or two or taking a bitcoin refund. This has happened 1 or 2 times in the 8 months I've been running the service.

By the way, I can actually probably do the equivalent of about 3 full-time jobs this way. I used to do a data entry job for Visa (yes, I used to work for one of the major credit card companies, ironic, eh?) from home that everyone else did in the office and I did in 12 hours what my office counterparts did in 40.
418  Economy / Services / Will work for bitcoins -- Virtual Assistant on: December 30, 2011, 01:30:38 AM
I am currently looking for work as a virtual assistant for one or more persons or companies. My position at my day job was eliminated today in a downsizing move, as they have not been doing well in this economy.

What's in it for you (and/or anyone else you know who needs some work taken off their plate):

A hard-working customer service focussed individual whose number one concern is always the satisfaction of his customers (internal and external) and always gets his work done in both a professional and timely manner (for evidence, see http://bitcoinfeedback.spendbitcoins.com, http://feedback.spendbitcoins.com & http://ebay.spendbitcoins.com).

Relevant skills: Customer service (phone, email &/or instant message), typing, data entry, writing &/or proofreading, back-office operations (purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable etc)--basically a well-rounded office professional.

What's in it for me:

I'm about to go back to university to get a degree in Clinical Psychology. Being a virtual assistant will allow me to set my own hours to some degree so that I can attend lectures and study as well as work full time and run Spend Bitcoins.

I am looking to earn approximately 1000 USD worh of BTC a week minimum, but that can be spread out among multiple employers if there isn't one who has enough work for that salary.

If you have any amount of work for me, please PM me or better yet email jeremyATspendbitcoins.com.
419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's that time of the year again - your favorite sites are asking for donations on: December 29, 2011, 05:39:23 AM
Spendbitcoins.com offers GoDaddy/Amazon/Newegg giftcodes, which happens to be the provider for some of the forums I use - so they don't have to worry about getting exchange accounts, faxing over their birth certificates and life history, etc. They can exchange BTC directly for hosting time and hardware.

Everyone should be able to accept bitcoins when they can easily spend them for practically anything on earth at http://spendbitcoins.com Smiley
