741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [BTA] BATA | The "Sharing Economy" & Barter made for each other - PoW / PoS on: August 04, 2016, 05:31:39 AM
Thanks for the question and sorry about the delay in responding.

When Bob has apples and Sue has oranges and they want to trade, it is a matter of arranging a physical exchange. When one party does not wish to receive goods, they will receive a credit, in this case Bata. The system will be based on a tweaked version of current Barter systems, such as BarterCard in Australia, without the need for a central authority.

Any assistance or input would be welcomed as I have some issues I am currently facing regarding time.

I think I understand now how it works.  Bob does not want Sue's Oranges, he wants Mike's Meats, so Sue sells her Oranges to a central company that gives her bata coins.  Sue can now use the bata coins to buy the Apples from Bob who uses it to buy meat from Mike.  A better example is the central company has products and services that people can buy using bata coins.   These goods are sold to the central company for bata coins as payment, then those goods are sold to others who want the goods but only in bata coins.
Nice!!!

I have heard of this kind of system before, it does very well and I think we can help you now that I understand it.  That is if I am understanding it correctly.

Well I am a software developer and the rest of the people in my group have skills in marketing, promotion, and trading.  I would like to know what help would you like from us?  Also if I misunderstood the system please correct me.  I have more questions to ask before I go back to the team but I would like to be sure I have a 100% accurate understanding of what you are doing with bata coin.

Regards

Davinci

Yes you have a correct understanding. The other benefit of the system is BTA's value is determined by the markets, so one may wish to move excess stock at a certain price to hedge profits.

In addition members will earn BTA for goods and services they sell and this value is recorded electronically in the member's account. Members use their Bata Account or wallet to spend their BTA on

goods and/or services from any other Bata member.

I believe the community would like to know more about what you are proposing.

Please feel to ask any more questions.

We will do this in an open transparent discussion via public forum.

Is there anyone here?  I think the developer has done a great job so far and all he needs to do is talk with the community as we want to help this coin grow in value for all of us.

Well if anyone can answer my question that would be great thanks.

Hi

I would like to learn more about Bata coin and how it works I am interested in investing in this coin and I would like some more information and clarification on what it does.   I would like to know how Bata coin can improve the barter system in an example where bob has Apples and Sue has oranges she wants to trade for apples.

BTW I also represent a group of investors that want to work with the developer to promote the coin and provide financial advice if the developer wishes to have our support.

Cheers

We are looking into the electrum server for Uberpay so it should be restored soon.

I have been quiet for a number of personal reasons, but I am still here and we are still going according to plan.

Thanks for your continued support.

No news just waiting till we get closer to halving. We are moving along slowly but surely.

We will call it the "POWEXIT" - do you bet against BTA or back it?

any eta on when the pow is ending guys?

We are up to block #369022, POS will occur once we are around 400k block - it also could be earlier to keep the markets guessing.

I am thinking about using a cloud service to run a Bata wallet 24/7 after we switch to POS. Is that possible to do? If so, how could one do that?

This brings about so many questions.

Can I set it up to for Tor or I2P? Should I use a VPN?

I want to create a reliable, dedicated part of the network (a node?). I would also like to contribute to anonymity if possible. I don't mind paying a monthly rental fee for my cloud server as long as it isn't too much. I also may need some advice on making the server/wallet secure.

I will clarify what the best procedure will be once switch to POS.

It is true that BTC can't go higher and can stabilize around 600$ after halving?

Due the new mining hardware https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/bitmain/antminer-s9-miner/

It is so power efficient that there is just zero reason for much higher prices even at halved  BTC block reward.

(if new miners need 1/3 of the power old ones needed why half block  reward should enforce a higher BTC price?)

We can only wait and see Wink

I would place my orders from now , is there anything you want to sell Huh

NO way this is accumulation price.

Though BTC is over $1000 locally,  Shocked

When Bitcoin is low alts are high and visa versa, so looking forward, Bitcoin will most probably continue to rise until halving.

So any BTA you buy today will adjust to the price accordingly and will be rewarded accordingly.

1000 sat Huh I will wait on the 500 and this is a great opportunity to buy below 1000

It's not getting any easier to obtain BTA, there seems to be a lot of waiting going on for low buy orders, for example take a look Bittrex. Of course after writing this those orders maybe removed.

That was a nice little dump, nearly 100k I reakon, Probably at a loss to. LOL

I hate spending BTC at the moment on ALT's becasue who knows where either will stop.

but sub 1k BATA.....well..

Not many coins hit the market daily, when those who will dump do it will naturally go up, As is happening in WBB,
This is good to shake weak hands out.

Probably not the best time to sell, but everyone has their reasons.

I don't see Bitcoin's coin reducing anytime soon. One might not think it is the right time to put BTC into crypto, but those looking longterm probably already know that Bitcoin will continue to rise.
Cryptos are backed by Bitcoin and the dollar is supposedly backed by gold.

Yes some may need to live of that BTC, others will hold because we know how Bitcoin started, we have been around long enough to see beyond the 2k profit here and there. We are here for the goal, not for a quick rich scheme.

Not since the 70's mate, hence the debt crisis the world over.

I couldn't resist and bought some more this morning, get that average down from 2k ish

Correct, one whole farce. It's backed by debt, on the other hand, BTA is backed by mathematics and Bitcoin Wink

What Uber did for transport, we aim to do for trade.

I think the key to success with Bata (or any crypto) is going to revolve around the ease of user experience. What seems easy to experienced crypto users may seem confusing or difficult to new users.

1. Getting a Bata wallet. A wallet is not a normal or common piece of software. People also have had the dangerous experience of downloading malware and may be hesitant to download something unfamiliar. Getting Bata needs to be simple and must have non-software options for using a wallet. Preferably something like an electrum wallet that can be accessed through a browser like a bank account. If they can get that far then the next step would be to download a wallet. Wallet user interface needs to be redesigned--simple, simple, simple. Think Google.

2. Buying Bata. Buying any cryptocurrency is a learning curve that NEEDS to be reduced. It took some time for me to discover Coinbase. I also had one of the last transactions from coin.mx. After purchasing some bitcoin on coin.mx the owner of the company was arrested later that day and the site was shut down. That was a close one! An easier and safer way of obtaining Bata MUST be designed.

3. Safer transactions. Imagine you send some cryptocurrency to a wrong address. "OOPS, accidentally typed the wrong letter. Oh well, gone forever." That is totally unacceptable. There absolutely needs to be a confirmation of delivery or the currency should automatically be returned.

4. Thrilling use. The idea that drugs and other illegal stuff can actually be bought with cryptocurrency makes cryptocurrency seem exciting. Ideally it would be a similar thrilling use of Bata (without the drugs and illegal stuff) which will capture people's imaginations. Requiring an exclusive use of Bata will also ensure success. Perhaps the barter system will be that application. But we should be open to others.

1/ The android wallets are very easy to use. We have 3, a BTA branded one, Uberpay and Coinomi.  The reason for not having an online wallet at present is due to the potential security risk or in other words you are putting your BTA in other peoples hands for safe keeping. This can be added to the BTA system / platform, which will also have a staking feature.

2/ With BTA being on so many exchanges it is accessible. But we can also look at it being sold or converted directly on the barter system.

3/ Every transaction on the blockchain is confirmed, but I hear what you are saying regarding addresses.

4/ On the darknet you can get your thrills, via i2p or TOR nodes Wink

What are the communities thoughts of the Barter System being funded by external investors?

I have too little information about the barter system to form an opinion.

Bata will adapt the model of Bartercard:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartercard

But instead of using stale trade dollars, BTA will be used, therefore the barter transaction could also be used as a future investment or purchase.

Thanks - welcome to the community.

If the Barter system was to be invested by the community, part of the profit would go back into liquidity on the markets.

I've been asking for a roadmap for almost a year now - at least give us some reason to hold BTA longer.

There is a paradigm shift for altcoins going on, and those with no innovation or unique features are going to quickly be left in the dust.

Ok here is a brief roadmap, which I have been discussing previously but have not put it into a Roadmap as such:

STAGE 1 Proof of Work period ( nearly over)

STAGE 2 Proof of Stake

STAGE 3 Barter system integration, Website & App

STAGE 4 Barter Bridge for unrestricted worldwide barter trade (i2p & TOR access)

STAGE 5 Marketing to mainstream businesses

760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BTA] BATA | Final Stages of POW before POS - Founded 2015 (Optional Privacy) on: June 07, 2016, 06:22:01 AM
We are approaching the final stages of POW, 50000 Blocks before reaching 400K.

Get your stash now, before the rush and hold.

Will keep you posted.

Not much interest here. Not quite sure to make of it.

Enlighten me.

This coin really has nothing going for it but your presence. The github is stale, there's nothing but a "functioning" blockchain. To expect people to use the coin for purposes of I2p/Tor is simply not enough really. While your "marketing", if you will, is not bad, there has not been many real selling points for people to garner interest in it.

From a value perspective it's a "cheap blockchain" with "active dev" - but what has been done, really? Alt.Report gave this a D for lacking innovation amongst other things, and nothing has changed since.

Money is best invested in individuals who are highly creative. I guess it is up to those of us who have invested in this coin to innovate. Speaking of which, I would like to brainstorm and throw out some ideas and get some feedback on them. Is this forum the best place to do that? Or is it preferred to do that in a different location?

You are welcome to discuss here.

If there is an innovation that we have overlooked I would be glad to discuss it and implement it if required.

By no means have we finished, there are various barter systems available to use so we have that aspect of the total goal taken care of. POW has been fair and long, something which the general community at the time demanded - this does not seem to account for much these days as we see ICO's more and more. POS is on the way - final specs have not been released, nor has the amount of BTA required to stake.

We aim for a worldwide barter network, taking on the likes of those who are part of the 20 Billion dollar Barter industry. This system works yet we will make it a debit based system rather than a credit based system. No it is not a traditional marketplace like ebay etc.

In regards to i2p & TOR they are important for worldwide user access.
