really??  I thought people said that these units shut down at 90c
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Looking to change the fan set up with my s9's on: December 09, 2017, 09:23:16 PM
I know this has been brought up before, but I am not happy with the cooling on my s9's.  It's a bit warmer here and two of my units run up to 85c

I am considering building an "exhaust box"  and pulling from that box with this sort of fan:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CAHM75W/ref=psdc_13399911_t3_B009LCEUEK

These fans pull high volume and pressure.

The issue is the PWM feedback to the antminers.  If I disconnect the fans, the units will shut down.  I suppose I could just cut the fins off the fans and let them spin there, but that draws an additional 150watts give or take.

I could try and connect a PWM generator and trick the units.

Does anyone have a hack for disconnecting the fans from these units?  I just can't have them run this hot.  They wont last

....
Any ideas how to safely remove the heat sinks from chips?

No. I think that this is impossible.

I don't think taking the heat syncs off is the way to do it.  They are very soft aluminum. Just put the board on an endmill and plunge cut the fins off. You still have the bottom surface of the heatsink, but you have a flat surface to attach the water block.

Hey everyone.  I had a question.

I turned on my three s9's today.  Usually, when I check the rewards tab, I get a value under "your scoring hash rate"  Since starting up, all three machines are running a total of 42th/s,  but the "your scoring hash rate" is still showing no value.

I am concerned that somehow the miners aren't being assigned a task.

Any ideas?

thanks

web interface crashed again.  everything blank, and most tabs unreachable.  still connected to slushpool, but speed not that good

now it's "kind of" started working.

system info popped up, but hardware version is blank

I was able to put in pool information and it appears to be connecting.

really strange.

update:  i pushed the reset for 15 seconds and it started working, so up updated the firmware while it was working.  then everything seemed fine.  after 30 seconds it started misbehaving again.

all system information, in SYSTEM OVERVIEW, is blank

which firmware did you use?

Just got 3 new s9's

two are fine and on slushpool.

the third is having controller issues.  I connect it to the network and SYSTEM OVERVIEW comes up and only ADMINISTRATION - MONITOR - UPGRADE are accessible.

All other tabs give me CONNECTION REFUSED.

I have disconnected the hashboards, same issue.

I have tried to do a reset.  same issue.

Tried to ssh into the machine to turn off.  same issue

Should I try to do a firmware upgrade? If so, how do I choose the correct firmware from the bitmain site?

Would really love to get this last machine up.....
