You are probably better off trying to buy some form of FPGA to mine, they are cheaper than asics and can be had right now

3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Free µBTC sites: take care on: July 23, 2013, 03:27:54 PM
the free sites are usually not worth your time to be honest.

you earn some BTC by selling stuff or just buying it on exchanges Smiley

Or mining with ASICS or GPUs for alts and then exchange/trade for BTC. You can also offer services for BTC.

6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 166667 avalon chips to absolutley dominate bitcoin network on: July 23, 2013, 03:22:01 PM
That is kind of scary, and part of the reason why I have migrated to alts such as LTC
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to earn bitcoins on: July 23, 2013, 03:19:50 PM
You could also your services for BTC in the services section of the forum. You could also invest in securities to increase your money (hopefully).
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Lending on: July 23, 2013, 03:17:33 PM
So I'm new to the bitcoin world and looking to borrow some BTC to help improve my online credibility.  I am looking for a 1 BTC which I can payback along with 50% interest in 1 month.  I realize I don't have any cred in the BTC-world which is why I am willing to pay such ridiculous interest.  If interested in lending to me, please message me

You shouldn't ask for lending the first day you join.  Become active with the community and get your name known.  In the meantime why not mine some BTC for yourself?  I have a thread here in the "Newbie" area so you can get started mining tonight! Smiley

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=259676

This is excellent advise. You should either mine as he says or build up your credibility a bit and then ask for a loan.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC Chips on: July 23, 2013, 03:16:23 PM
Ahhh.. I assumed that block erupter blades used Avalon chips.

BFL chips look a bit hard to hand solder Smiley . Are there PCB's available for them?

Thanks!

From my understanding, I think BFL is a bit scammy so I would probably advise against pre ordering chips from them and instead go with other companies that have a higher odds of delivering
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: new to bitcointalk. want to get help for fix miner. on: July 23, 2013, 03:14:54 PM
Perhaps you could post more details so someone could actually assist you?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 6 min post limitation on: July 23, 2013, 03:13:17 PM
I think it is just lower ranks, it probably gets reduced as your rank increases
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newby on: July 23, 2013, 03:08:21 PM
welcome & have fun.

some tips: buy bitcoins - ignore altcoins, they're mostly shit and not worth your time. don't gamble (mentioned before), do not trust anyone and always use escrow.
As a newbie I have to ask- how to get -5 trust with activity=14? Or... how to not get it?! Anyone can just click "don't trust" and you're scammy?

I think that is a little bit how it works, you just have to hope that nobody does that
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The bitcoin origin on: July 23, 2013, 03:07:05 PM
So, there were the "0 block", then a few computers were calculating next blocks, and if one found a correct one it was added to the block chain (although it has no transactions in it) and it's owner got 50BTC. It continued for some time and then a guy bought pizza for 10k BTC. Is that correct? Wink.

From my moderate understanding, that is basically correct
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gambling on: July 23, 2013, 03:05:42 PM
Just don't gamble, the house always wins. Then if you do gamble, don't complain after you loose everything you have
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling 0.5BTC for Dwolla on: July 23, 2013, 03:03:25 PM

Seconded, I might be interested depending on what you are selling it for
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WTB BTC small amount happy to send first etc on: July 23, 2013, 03:02:34 PM
Not sure on the exact qty at the moment but approx 2 BTC

Am prepared to pay 70 GBP per BTC

Seeing as your a easy target for scammers by being alright with sending first, i would recommend that you use the site virwox for you bitcoins, however i am not sure on the fees which may be high.

Or you can just use escrow
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New rig planned. advise? on: July 23, 2013, 03:01:37 PM
I would most likely recommend 3 7950s and a bit more RAM to ensure proper mining if you are going with script
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The easiest way to sell your content for bitcoin on: July 23, 2013, 02:57:07 PM
http://bitkeyn.scelta.it/ is the easiest way to sell your content for bitcoin.
Fill one simple form where you choose the price, put your content, and you'll get a link that you can put in a forum, a blog, even send via email.
Clicking the link, can simply pay the amount of bitcoins required to access the content.

Interesting service! Smiley
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC on MTGox on: July 22, 2013, 08:47:39 PM
MtGox can't add LTC because they will have problems applying to U.S. regulations.

They can't add LTC because they are incompetent
20  Other / Meta / Re: Name calling and Personal attacks need to stop! on: July 13, 2013, 06:25:42 PM
a possible solution could be to ban the IPs of everyone who is obviously making personal attacks
