282 Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Need help working out my returns on: June 06, 2011, 06:18:44 PM
Quote from: The Koolio on June 06, 2011, 06:09:22 PMOk my 5870 system is due this friday, however, i estimate itll take 20 days to pay back at a set difficulty. Can someone help me figure out exactly how long a £1000 / \$1500 system that pulls 1.7 ghash will take to pay off including the future increases in difficulty, assuming it starts working this friday. Reason I ask is no matter how much i read on this difficulty still hurts my brain lol! Assuming this system pays its self off within a few weeks i would also like to know how much it could make daily in say 3 months and 6 months. Thanks to whoever helps, whoever provides the best and most informative answer will get a bitcoin once the server is up. (theres also a possibility of creating 10 servers at 17 g hash if it works out profitable enough)You gotta do the math yourself in a spreadsheet... people have made it very easy for youUse a simple BTC calculator to determine that 1.5GH/s at current difficulty is about฿3.01/dayAssume difficulty is going to increase again in 10 days from today (~6/16)So for 10 days=฿30.1After that, assume a ~35% minimum difficulty increase = ~737,500 difficultyThat reduces you to ฿2.32/day = ฿23.2/10 daysAfter another 35% increase฿1.72/day = ฿17.2/10 daysSo if you brought a new 1700mh/s mining rig online TODAY and ran it nonstop for 30 days assuming 35% difficult increase, you'd be looking at ฿70.5 after 30 days.  At current exchange rate, that is ~\$1300.Historically, price has increased on pace with difficulty
283 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Mt. Gox US Bank accounts eventually get frozen? on: June 06, 2011, 05:52:17 PM
Quote from: Horkabork on June 06, 2011, 07:27:43 AMMt. Gox isn't going to get closed by the US government. At most if for some outlandish reason, transfers to and from Dwolla and bank accounts gets spanked, then this will be like poker websites, Suprnova.org, Napster, and the myriad of other examples where killing a centralized, popular "agent" of technology just increases the number of users drastically and creates 10 other entities that replace it.Or transfers will just get slightly more annoying, such as there being another entity of some sort between Mt. Gox and people's bank accounts.By the way, this is a US-centric discussion and Bitcoin is pretty darn diverse.um, the poker sites have effectively been defeated in the US.It has been a slow death but since UIGEA in 2006 the US Gov't has gone after one payment processor after another until there were no options left.  10 more didn't replace Neteller when it left, or Click2Pay, or ePassporte, etc etc etc

Quote from: airdata on June 06, 2011, 04:57:53 PMHow many blocks per month would one expect to find with 1.5-4Gh ?at 4Gh/s you would expect an average of 1 block a week with current difficulty.
 286 Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 4 Radeon 5830s? on: June 06, 2011, 04:50:05 PM
What are the other specs?I think it's a pretty good system for \$827.  5830 is a great card for the value. They pull about 200W (from what I've read), so with overclocking 950W is probably doable but doesn't leave you much wiggle room.i got my cards running in windows @ 306MH/s without any problem
287 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it more suitable for Bitcoin users to use Andriod rather than use iPhone 4? on: June 04, 2011, 06:16:26 PM
I'd expect a bitcoin app for jailbroken iphones fairly soon.Has anyone reached out to the dev of the pulled app store bitcoin app?  Maybe he'd put it up on Cydia for cheap/free

Sorry to say that with 1 post and a registration date 3 days ago people are going to have a hard time trusting you with their wallets (even encrypted)

Quote from: brunoshady on June 04, 2011, 12:38:40 AMwhy underclock memory?it's unnecessary for hashing and generates significant heat.  you can underclock memory to get a higher core without affecting temps

A better question isWhat is is like to make \$1.5M in a single day without doing anything? This is a truly awesome BTC story

Quote from: twitcoins on June 03, 2011, 11:07:39 PMI can attest that 5830's seem to BEG you to overclock them.  A little RBE work and I've pushed mine as high as 320 Mhash/s stable.I agree that the 5830 are awesome.  I was going to get a couple 5850 but couldn't find any, then newegg had their sale on 5830...Hard to beat 300+MH for \$100-110.

Quote from: MufflerMan on June 03, 2011, 10:17:26 PMQuote from: Meatball on June 03, 2011, 09:08:29 PMYeah, I'm not sure.  I've never seen USB/Sata disabling PCIexpress slots before, so I'm guessing it's sharing interrupts or the bus or something. Also, I've had luck running Catalyst 11.5's and Stream 2.4 or 2.1 on Win7 x64Yea, I'm using 11.5 and 2.4 atm.So I checked BIOS and there were some USB3 options. Disable controller and ability to choose EHCI or XHCI.  You think either would help? I may try to put the adapters and cards back in if you think it's worth a shot. try diasbling the controller

Quote from: oyster2000 on June 03, 2011, 10:29:30 PMi aint too happy either, ive been mining with slush for a couple of weeks and ive found 5 blocks while ive only earned about 170BTC ...... seriously thinking of going solo, i found 2 blocks in one day during the week at about 4ghash :/You're being results-oriented... You're pool-mining to even out variance, right?

Quote from: TheManOfTown on June 03, 2011, 09:59:34 PMI too have experienced the "pain" of slow wiretransfers. But think of this:"What if it went the other way?"Say the price decreased while your money were held up, the you would not complain, would you?Things like these happens, and it happens to us all. In the long run it all evens out though.Still, I can feel your frustration. This will never happen because bitcoin only goes up.
297 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unimpressed by MtGOX on: June 03, 2011, 09:53:47 PM
Had the same problem.  Missed the dip to \$5.5 waiting for my dwolla transfer to get added to my MtGOX account.Of course waiting on Dwolla ACH is an entirely different story... how hard can it be to add funds to my account when you've already cleared the ACH debit from my bank account?
298 Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Which mining pool you suggest? on: June 03, 2011, 09:11:25 PM
Quote from: Jine on June 03, 2011, 03:20:16 AMAnyone without a fee. I'm not going to say that MY pool (Bitcoins.lc) is the best. We're however the nicest one.Don't go to deepbit or slush, use some other pool that doesn't steal from you.lol that is completely out of line. They are charging a clearly defined management fee for running and maintaining the pool.  If you don't want to pay the fees then don't use the pool.  To suggest that they are "stealing" is pretty insulting and you will likely dissuade potential users from moving to your pool if you act like that.I'm totally calling the cops on Vanguard for stealing from my Roth IRA.
 299 Bitcoin / Mining / Re: XFX 5830 @ 280Mhash/s, can I get more out of it? on: June 03, 2011, 08:38:32 PM
Quote from: twitcoins on June 03, 2011, 07:05:22 PMI've got my 5830's up to about 320 Mhash/s each... That's around 1025/320 and 80% fan I think, no voltmods only RBE.  280 is right around where they are naturally stable, takes a fair bit of babysitting to get over 1000.That is quite impressive.  Glad you bumped you thread.Going to try phatk any time soon?
