Interest is generated from transaction fees and the payout happens once a week. The amount heavily depends on the activity of users. At this point it's less than 1% per year because we don't have that many active users. As our wallet service grows interest should get larger as well.

Hey everyone, today we added Namecoin to our online wallet. As usual this update also comes with many smaller improvements.

For developers we now also have a new experimental API feature specific to Namecoin. For example the call below will let you check what is stored for "d/bitcoin" which translates to the domain "bitcoin.bit":

A new version of ypool wallet just went online. We overhauled the entire design to make it look a bit more professional and up-to-date. Additionally, we now consider the wallet stable enough to run smoothly with large amounts of active users, therefore we removed the beta key requirement for registration.

In the source code it says the fork is after block 159000. See isAfterFork1().
In a previous post Gatra stated that the first block in the new fork is 156672 which doesn't match with the source. Am I overlooking something?

You know the answer The idea of decentralization has it's advantages but also comes with many problems and shortcomings that are often overlooked. The main problem we had with going a decentralized way is that many of the ideas and future services we have planned are incompatible or overly complicated to implement in a perfectly decentralized matter. We wanted to keep it as simple as possible for the users even if it means that they don't have control over their private keys.

If you are concerned that we may eventually disappear with your money than that's ok and you can simply not use our service and be done with it. That being said it's not like we are coming out of nowhere. ypool exists for more than 1 1/2 years now with a very positive history so far, see the other posters above.

Peercoin is now supported by ypool wallet. If you haven't got a chance to try the wallet here are some new beta keys:

I have replaced the set of beta keys in the first post with new ones. If you know someone who is already registered they can give you their own beta keys by going to the tools page. (Need to be logged in)

In other news, we are currently working on Peercoin support for the wallet. It should be ready in 2-3 days. We have also added new features to the API. The API documentation is still work in progress but for the moment we have prepared some PHP examples which should be quite helpful.

I have fixed the problem but I am not exactly sure what has caused it. Still looking into it.

Edit: Most likely an error in the pool and not a bug in Riecoin's code.

How to join
Simply visit our wallet and register for free.

Updating the wallet only 1-2 days before the hard fork will happen is guaranteed to have some consequences as people and services will miss to update. It's even worse if you don't announce it where it is visible to most people (Twitter, wallet alert feature) Not everyone checks the forum daily. Has Noir Group notified all the big exchanges yet? Cryptsy, poloniex and btc38?

Regarding the pool, ypool.net will switch all NRS workers to PTS at block 50000. After that no more NRS mining will be possible but funds can still be withdrawn.

You can encrypt your wallet, then you need to enter a password whenever you try to send coins. If thats not safe enough, you can use multisig addresses. Using those it basically becomes impossible for the attacker to steal your coins unless he has compromised all of your computers. The downside is that it becomes very time consuming to send coins.

Thanks for spotting this. I have committed a fix to the xptMiner repository. The performance difference should be insignificant on x64/x86.
I also know there are some other places in the xpt source where memory alignment can make problems. Especially all the xptPacketbuffer_* functions have unaligned read/write access which is supported on x86/x64 but not on other platforms, but I don't know if it matters on ARM.

Ich stimme dir zu, das ganze ist etwas undurchsichtig und man findet nicht wirklich brauchbare Informationen. Sowohl zur gesetzlichen Situation als auch zum Verein/Treffen.

Zur FMA:
Es gibt eine eigene Seite zum Thema Bitcoin, *hier*. Die ist allerdings ziemlich auslegbar und beantwort keine konkreten Fragen.
Allerdings habe ich mich bereits erkundigt (Bzgl. Steuern, Konzessionspflicht etc.) und das ganze ist etwas kompliziert und es würde den Rahmen dieses Posts sprengen (oder zumindest meinen Willen das nun niederzuschreiben). Welche Informationen der Verein bereits hat kann ich nicht sagen, ich werde am Dienstag ebenfalls mit einem Kollegen zum ersten mal das Treffen besuchen. Vielleicht trifft man sich ja, dann kann man das ganze Vorort genauer besprechen

Would you please stop trolling? You have seen with your own eyes that people in ypool chat are discussing and trying to fix the issue. NRS is an innovative coin that merges PoW and PoS and since it is quite a complex interaction bugs can happen. All the coins you mined on any pool will probably stay.

I believe the current solution is already good enough if you do it right.
My advice for anyone who wants to hide the fee: Read the comment for the method xptClient_addDeveloperFeeEntry() in xptMiner. The function's output is static so you can pass your fee address once and write down the output. Then you hardcode the same output directly in the network functions and skip the call to xptClient_addDeveloperFeeEntry(). This will stop 99.9% of people that try to mess with the developer fee as they can't find the address in cleartext anymore. Additional measures can always be taken, like storing the address encrypted and only decrypting it on-demand.

Keep in mind that the developer fee was designed to work with any xpt pool without requiring the pool operator to interfere. At the moment only ypool supports it though.

Once the coins left ypool there is not much that can be done. But in this case you were lucky and he still had the coins on his pool balance. Therefore I have transferred the coins back to your account.
Please change your password immediately if you haven't done so already. Make sure you set it to something that you don't use on any other website and that can't easily be guessed.

I'd like to remind everyone that we have quite an extensive security system setup on ypool. If you set a secret question and/or 2step authentication it becomes impossible for someone to steal coins even if he has full access to your account.

Small update regarding the progress of the event: So far 5.000.000 Dogecoin have been given away as additional block reward. Currently the bonus per block is +75%
Our hashrate hovers around 2GH/s. Lot's of Dogecoin still to be earned.

we have started our "Shibe Days" event on ypool.net.
During the event you can earn a lot of additional Dogecoins. We will start with a bonus of 100% per block, which means you will earn double! Over time the bonus will slowly decrease down to 10% where it will stay for a while.
We plan to give away over 20.000.000 Dogecoin in total.

On a side note, the pool is relatively small at the moment, so it might take a while until the hashrate goes up and the blocks start rolling in.

Just to clarify this, the info is not fake. Or at least not on purpose. All data is correct except the company name. When we registered the domain we tried to think ahead and it turned out that "ypool gmbh" is not the company name/form that we settled for. It will be corrected of course. The problem is that Miki (primer-) doesn't even want to hear our explanation. He just came here to make us look bad. I have no idea what I did wrong to make him this angry.
