1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an ICO with good community support ? on: July 23, 2018, 10:31:40 AM
After a first look into the bitcoin/altcoin space, I found stellar network to be particularly well adapted to run financial services and I'm planning to launch a validator node to run a few tests.
But I also heard a lot of potential problem with stellar (amount of coin still held by founders...) so it'll be good to know what the bitcointalk community think of stellar network (to run a financial/banking service).

Do you refer to  VCs/Business Angels or is it a crypto group of investors ?

ICO isn't needed anymore for this type of projects that you want to launch.

You can just ask in your corporation if they are willing to support this or you can look for start up groups where they love funding projects like this.

I don't really think that ICO is essential anymore for these type of services, you can propose this to potential investors but it's no need for a tokenized shares.

What kind of startup groups / potential investors are you referring to ?

This is such an ambitious project, better do an audit if you can really do that, if you can comply and you think it will benefit the community and there no existing project or services like that, then go for it, but it's not easy to set up an ICO so many project has been paused because of not reaching the softcap.

Yes it's an ambitious project, but I'm 100% certain to deliver because i'll do it from an emerging country where regulation is still in it's infancy.

What do you mean by an audit ? who will run it ?

Regarding the softcap, my initial intention (good ?) is to run multistage ICO with low softcap with contractual delivery commitment to investors (for example ~$50 000 for the first round, then ~$100 000, then $200 000...)

The value proposition is not really the visa card. I think the real value will come from transactions fees and interests from mobile payments, remittance and loans. The visa card will just be a convenient way to withdraw fiat from users accounts
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Stellar a good network to launch a banking/financial service ? on: July 18, 2018, 05:03:18 PM
Hello,

I've been following bitcoin and altcoins for a bit now but was off since last year for personal reason.

Now, I would like to launch a "miniBank" business and I was wondering if ICO is the right tool for that. The idea is to run a mobile banking service (which are popular in emerging markets) through blockchain features. The initial phase will require around 500 000 USD.

Here is a list of services that will be provided by the miniBank :
- multi crypto-currency account pegged to EUR or USD
- VISA/MASTERCARD debit card linked to EUR or USD balance
- Mobile payment in several Emerging Market Countries
- Automated loans
- Transfer/Remittance from Europe to Emerging Market Countries

The presale and after the ICO will grant initial investor with token that will allow them to have :
- a perpetual fixed income on the miniBank (interest rate tbd).
- a share of the miniBank or the cryptocurrency that will be used for mobile payment, loans...

Do you think that pre sale can be use to fund part of the initial phase ? And what are the steps that I should follow to have a successful pre-sale ?

PS: I worked in Investment Banking and I'm quite knowledgeable in term of coding and system architecture so I have a proper understanding of both.

I just can't. that means withdraw from paypal to bank account (3 days) + Send to btc/kraken (2/3days). So I won't be able to buy btc before almost a week, with paypal it's done within a couple of hours.

How long has it been since you posted your request?
You're right may be I'll end up doing withdrawal + kraken/bitstamp

Then you're lucky in the UK.
In France it cost zero to take out your money from paypal but you don't get the fund in your bank account until a couple of days (2 or 3 days)

Hi,

I want to buy btc up to 360$ via paypal. please make your offers

As a scammer lost my time yesterday I want to be clear on the term of any transaction with me.

- You can sent first if you want (that's up to you)
- You can send the btc you claim to have to an escrow (DannyHamilton maybe)
- Once the escrow stated that he received the claimed btc amount I'll send you the paypal funds
- I'll also give the escrow a copy of my ID and access to my paypal account so that he can ensure you that I'm the owner of my account.
- the escrow may also keep that ID copy and give it to you in case of any litigation concerning the transaction. While some may argue that his account was hijacked, it's hard to explain where the seller got your official ID and doubt paypal will refund someone in this case.

You must also have a verified paypal account otherwise, paypal will simply block the payment. I will also add the escrow address and txid as well as the amount of btc bought in the payment note so that paypal can easily verify that a corresponding had been made to this address.

To finish I want to re-warn everyone

There are many people who have been scammed and lost money because they accepted PayPal in exchange for bitcoins.  It is NEVER safe to accept PayPal payments in exchange for bitcoins, but you can be a bit safer as long as you only accept PayPal payments from individuals for which you have significant trust.

 Angry
This guy is a scammer. Don't trade with him or at least use an escrow.
Here is the scheme:
He claim to have an amount of bitcoin. Show you some printscreen so you get confident and ask you to send first.
He then create an new paypal account and ask you to send the money to this account. Thx for me the paypal system noticed that something was going wrong. When I asked him to send the btc he claims he has to the escrow (DannyHamilton), he suddenly became mean and refuse to do so.

While you can ask paypal for refund, this guy is a thief and a scammer that took advantage of paypal. Even if I don't like paypal policies and transaction fees, it's clearly not reason to accept they be stolen.

You've been warned!
10  Economy / Lending / Re: 0.9btc repay 1btc by monday 26 may on: May 21, 2014, 09:59:30 AM
I'm sorry but it's likely no-one will believe you or willing to loan you purely based on trust anymore. It used to be this way in the past but that was abused by scammers so much so that in the end it wasn't worth it. You're not going to get a loan with either collateral or large trust (you'll need to complete many trades without any hitches). If you have any altcoin collateral you might want to post that if you really need the loan - but as you said you might just be better off selling it.

I can try to prove as much as I can that I'm not a scammer. If anyone want to PM me.

I can give you a loan up to about 0.45 BTC, depending on your altcoin collaterals.  PM me if you're interested.
I sent you an PM with an offer and some proof. Please check and reply.

Please be indulgent and read this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=577765.0
Thank you, it's a fair rule, but what I'm asking is a kind of favor and trust :/

Cant you not offer anything of equal or greater value?
I would help you out... but why should I put my trust into you?
I might end up doing this, in the off chance you want to talk further about it add my on skype: exchange.x
For now I can't offer anything of greater value; Thank you for proposal, I will add you on skype to talk this further.

I can give you a loan up to about 0.45 BTC, depending on your altcoin collaterals.  PM me if you're interested.
Thank you but I need 0.9btc otherwise I would have sold my coins. But again thank you for your proposing!
