1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mtgox delays 24 more hours on: June 24, 2011, 02:44:29 AM
And here's some copypasta from off their site:

Quote
[Update June 24 - 02:39 GMT]

We're seeing that the amount of claims that need review is much higher than what we had anticipated, and consequently it is taking us considerably more time to process the claims.

We want to be as accurate as possible when approving claim forms to ensure accounts are issued back to the original account holders, so we humbly ask for continued patience while we work through the outstanding claims. If we were to stick to the launch time of 3:00 GMT the majority of accounts will still not have access to Mt.Gox at the reopening.  We want to ensure as many users as possible have equal access when we are ready to open the site again.

Email confirmation and rejections have started going out. If you received a "rejection" email, please go through the claim process again  at claim.mtgox.com and add additional account information such as the account numbers of the services you used to deposit along with the amounts.

We understand many of you are eager to get access to your account, and we are doing our best to ensure this happens as quickly and with as much confidence as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understandinge look forward to getting through the claims and continue trading as soon as possible.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who would rather see Mt. Gox completely dissolved? on: June 21, 2011, 02:34:15 AM
Just wanted to say, I don't necessarily agree with your position, Atlas, but I want to +1 you ...

Shouldn't you be -1'ing people

hehehe
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox should be arrested on: June 21, 2011, 02:03:36 AM
My impression is that Mt. Gox is doing what they can as fast as they can do it. I have no complaints about the way they've handled the situation after the attacks (I do have a complaint about the attack, obviously, but that's past now).

This is potentially a 5-10m heist.  No one knows what's going on.

And we do know know what's doing on to a certain extent. They've released a lot of information on their site, on the forums, and in interviews.

well played
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: what will you do when Mt. Gox opens? on: June 21, 2011, 01:38:25 AM
Where is the 'buy tons of coins' option?

That would be 'Do business as usual'. I meant that option to be the generic catchall for "I'm still going to transact on Mt. Gox", regardless of whether the amount of business you'll be doing there is greater than it was before or not.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question for Kevin and Mt. Gox on: June 21, 2011, 01:34:27 AM
My understanding from both Kevin's and Mark's posts was that Kevin put in one single order.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Poll: what will you do when Mt. Gox opens? on: June 21, 2011, 01:31:02 AM
I'm curious to to see how the community's divided on this.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you do your groceries? on: June 21, 2011, 01:16:09 AM
Food City!
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I'm my side, here's bittrader on: June 21, 2011, 01:09:59 AM
am i doing it right?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "I'm Kevin, and I'm full of shit" [a must read!] on: June 21, 2011, 12:27:56 AM
I don't understand his story either. At one point he says he submitted his ID, etc. to Mt. Gox to have his $1,000 limit raised. Elsewhere he says he couldn't withdraw more than ~600 BTC because of the withdrawal limit! Seems like one contradicts the other. Or am I missing something.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the longer mtgox is offline, the more time people have to crack the passwords on: June 20, 2011, 03:50:26 AM
IMHO, they should take as long as they need to to secure their site.

According to their last post, they'll be back up at 8:00 AM GMT, which is a little over 3 hours from now, so we don't have long to wait anyway.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DId Mt. Gox Basically Seize My Money? on: June 20, 2011, 03:45:26 AM
No, they've said that you'll be able to reset your password by providing evidence that you are the account owner. E.g., I imagine you'll have to give them (1) your username, (2) your password, (3) your Dwolla/LR/whatever account number, (4) the amount you transfered to them and when you transfered it in. No one else should know all that information except you, so with that they'll have confirmation that you are the owner.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time-line of the MtGox attack on: June 20, 2011, 03:34:42 AM
FYI, on The Bitcoin Show tonight, one of the Mt. Gox guys said that the ~400k transfer was them taking security measures by moving their BTC to a different wallet.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox UPDATE on: June 19, 2011, 10:42:03 PM
they wont let me sign in. Ideas?

Their main site is down. The only thing up is the support site, where your main credentials don't work.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox UPDATE on: June 19, 2011, 09:36:30 PM
All passwords will be disabled and you will have to reset your password with the email on file. If no email is on file then it will be handled manually.

I count almost 4,000 accounts with blank emails — and mine is one of them. How do you plan on handling them manually? How will you verify that whoever is claiming to be the owner really is the owner?

Thanks.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's Official Mt.Gox Database Leaked :( on: June 19, 2011, 07:56:03 PM
Rapidshare makes you wait 5 minutes to download. Here's a torrent if you dont want to wait:

http://burnbit.com/torrent/171285/accounts_csv

I downloaded it and confirmed that my username is there.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ALL mtgox password has been compromised, change asap, everywhere you used it on: June 19, 2011, 07:53:35 PM
I waited through the crappy Rapidshare wait time and finally downloaded the file.

I can confirm that my Mt. Gox username and password are here! This is real.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Account renaming — how? on: June 05, 2011, 06:44:26 PM
You can move money from one account to the other using the 'move' command, but that leaves the old account there even if it's empty. So, sorry, I don't think there's [yet] a way to rename via the command line.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin and Bandwidth Usage on: June 05, 2011, 06:37:56 PM
That seems high, but I suppose it's possible. New clients download the block chain from the network (it's about 300 MB), and you could have had several new clients try to download from you.
20  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Scalability by splitting the master chain and joining branches back on: June 05, 2011, 06:31:56 PM
- Transactions appearing in any branch are valid just like now a transaction in the main line. All branches are equal

So to verify that a given transaction is valid, you'd have to have access to all the block chains. But if you have to have all the block chains, doesn't it defeat the purpose of having multiple chains?
