261  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Linking fees to fiat? on: December 01, 2017, 08:52:43 AM
So fellow bitcointalk members, we have seen many people complain about 'high fees'. The problem here is that those users only take fiat into consideration, never thinking that it only costs 50k Satoshis for a transaction of an average size.

I was thinking of a solution for this, now i am not a technical person, so i need your input on this, if this is even possible or not. Can the core developers link the fee to say 0.05 cents in fiat terms? So if bitcoin is at 9k it will cost 0.00000555 btc to send a transaction, if bitcoin drops to 8k it will cost 0.00000625 btc to send a transaction and so on. Keeping the transaction fees to 0.05 cents at all times. If the transaction size is greater than 226 bytes and less than 500 bytes it will cost 10 cents and so on.

Is this possible via a soft fork? Should even this be implemented? Or will it work in the long run, i would like to hear your opinions on this.
Yes its absolutely possible and is the need of hour too. Watching bitcoin climbing just over $11000 will mean each satoshi is now worth 0.00011$ and an average swift transaction carries a weight of lets assume around 150 sats/byte. Considering a 200 byte transaction is now costing around $3.3 if people hope bitcoin to reach $100000 the fees would reach $30 per transaction. So that means if you pay someone $100 30% would just vanish out in air. I don't really think this is something what most people want from their currency.

So this idea of fees linked with fiat is really the need of hour if we are looking forward to BTC as a currency or else one would simply rely on it as an asset giving good return.

I don't think you have read the past few posts if you really are going to agree with OP without addressing any of the issues everyone else has been bringing up about the fees being tied to a fiat value. Sure, it might be possible, but at least the way OP proposes it is an absolutely abysmal idea. It diverges from the concept of free market and does not address many of the issues that are solved by miners being able to prioritize transactions by their value. I suggest you start reading posts in a thread before you reply yourself.
262  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [VOUCHED] Adobe CC 2017 Lifetime Invites - Cheapest - No Key Method on: November 30, 2017, 11:13:18 PM
While I don't believe that I tried this method ever or vouched for it, I did warn about the likeliness of these various methods of obtaining Adobe CC lifetime licenses being cracked down on by Adobe. These methods in fact lasted longer than I thought they would, but with a recent change in their terms of service and them actively looking for volume licenses being abused, it was definitely not going to last much longer anyway. The only true way to obtain a lifetime Adobe product is to buy one of their products before the CC line came out (such as Adobe Creative Suite 6 or earlier) or obtain it legitimately through another organization such as your school or workplace, where they might have valid volume licenses that do follow the Adobe ToS.
263  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinmarketcap Telegram Bot on: November 30, 2017, 10:24:38 PM
I have been using this work for a while now and it works pretty well. I would like to suggest that the feature be added to be able to set price alerts at the exact prices that you want. For example, an alert for when Bitcoin passes $10,000 rather than just a relative alert based on the initial price at which the user created the alert. Other than that, I really like that your bot links each cryptocurrency's name to its corresponding chart in CoinMarketCap. I was not aware that such a thing could be done in Telegram at all without having the explicit URL showing.
264  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Stuck With A Negative Balance! What is this? on: November 30, 2017, 06:21:27 AM
Yeah, if 1BoGFV5qfEigP5pn7cqoWMfmwM8qqrtdAG is your address it looks like you've become the victim of a double-spend attack. Next time you should wait for at least 1 confirmation before accepting a payment as cleared.

It's pretty weird though, since the transaction to your address got both sent earlier and had a much higher transaction fee. I would have expected the second transaction -- the one not sent to 1BoGF(...) -- to be rejected by the network.

I am no expert, but it could have been partly influenced through cooperation with miners or by using one of those transaction accelerators that let you pay for a transaction to go through. A clever way I could see such scam going is Person A requesting bitcoin from Person B followed by Person B creating 2 transactions: the expected one with a fee low enough to not get mined immediately but high enough to be expected to be mined eventually, and the actual one with a very low fee that one would not expect to get accepted. After this, Person B colludes with a miner or pays a transaction accelerator to include the second transaction, which would be pointing towards his own wallet, inside a block. This would mean a successful double spend where the expected transaction never gets confirmed.
265  Economy / Services / Re: Do my online Econ 101 quiz for $15 in BTC on: November 30, 2017, 04:01:10 AM
I have finished a few economics courses in my university before and I highly doubt this is something you wouldn't be able to do yourself. Unless you literally spent the entire semester completely ignoring the course, you should not find the material to be hard. An introductory course to economics is something that even high schools offer as an early college elective nowadays.

Regardless, how long is the quiz and how much time do you expect it to take? I am not planning to do this for you myself, but this kind of information is expected if you want to strike a deal with someone.
266  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [LIMITED OFFER] UPGRADE TO WINDOWS10 PRO GENUINE WITH JUST $6!!! on: November 29, 2017, 10:03:07 PM
dear friend

this codes and stickers are just genuine activation products for windows 7pro and 8.1 pro, this topic just offer original keys and stickers for people

that have not original windows or other windows user that want install a genuine and legit windows 10.

if you already have an original windows 7 or 8.1 pro key you just download correct version and upgrade to win 10 pro.

and about you another question my suppliers are computer companies that obtain this stickers from laptop ,... factories. and about that

screenshot my supplier sent all of stickers in 1 picture  and i used paint software for separating that stickers.

and i sell this stickers at kinguin.net: https://www.kinguin.net/merchant/3425046/

you can buy it at kinguin if you like Grin

You say that these stickers are obtained from laptops from factories. Wouldn't this mean that once you sell the product keys in these stickers to other people both here and on Kinguin that the owners of those laptops will get screwed out of their license? Also, if the actual owners bring it up with Microsoft, it is very likely that the ones that the buyers get will get deactivated since only one computer is allowed to be using any one license at any one time. Seems like a break of Microsoft's ToS and possibly illegal.
267  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-29] The First DPOS Lightning Bitcoin Hard Fork is on the Way on: November 29, 2017, 05:59:16 AM
Just to be clear, while this team has the word "Lightning" in the name of the project, this is not actually the lightning network that has been talked about previously in regard to the main Bitcoin blockchain, correct? Even one of the commenters on the article was confused about this. I automatically assume this is the case with this project since not even the development team has been released to the public, which is something the main Bitcoin dev team would certainly do quickly. Furthermore, will a hard fork be required even with the actual lightning network or is it just for separation measures that this developer team has decided to do it instead of collaborating on the main chain? I am certainly wondering whether this fork might be a change from all the scam forks that have been coming out, but I won't get my hopes up.
268  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [LIMITED OFFER] UPGRADE TO WINDOWS10 PRO GENUINE WITH JUST $6!!! on: November 29, 2017, 05:20:17 AM
Huh, I don't quite get it. Aren't upgrades from Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 to Windows 10 already free for their corresponding editions? Furthermore, assuming that they are not, how are you obtaining these codes? Looking at the picture that you took of the sticker with the product key for a Windows activation on it, it looks like you are taking the product keys of already existing branded computers (although I could be wrong). This means that if you sell the key to someone else, the installation of Windows on the original computer would get deactivated and you would get the watermark for the deactivated copy of Windows. This would effectively mean that you would be selling stolen goods. If I am wrong in my assumptions, then please explain what the actual source of the codes is, as I haven't even heard of this kind of upgrade codes before.
269  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex Disabled Accounts - did your account get disabled? on: November 29, 2017, 05:09:35 AM
Is there a way to get an attorney for this problem.. because i have over 40 thousand dollar in value in my account.. does anybody know a better way to make them verify my account faster?? How long does normally takes??

I am no lawyer, but I believe that your case and the legality of them suspending your account and blocking access to your funds is going to depend on the local laws of whichever jurisdiction you reside in. Ironically, it is in situations like this that your government and their willingness to regulate exchanges and to help customers come into play. Bringing in official authorities also brings complications, though. You need to prove that you are the rightful owner of the funds if you wish to pursue legal compensation for your suspended account and are most likely to have to prove to officials the source of your Bitcoins. If you bought these through some exchange using fiat, this should be no problem at all, but do know that it will be recognized for tax purposes and other official matters. Good luck.
270  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: November 29, 2017, 04:57:09 AM
When we started smallest ChipMixer chip (1 mBTC) was worth $1.5.
Today Bitcoin price reached $10,000 which makes the smallest ChipMixer chip (1 mBTC) worth $10.
Should we introduce smaller chips?
Smaller chips would be good, especially if someone wants to pay someone by giving a voucher. At the moment you can't pay $15, it's either $10 or $20.
But: Bitcoin fees only got higher. If you want to using a 1 mBTC chip to make a transaction, you currently need to pay about 0.4 mBTC on fees. You can pay less, and sometimes that's even enough, but fees have been much higher too.

A 0.5 mBTC chip is useless if you have to pay 80% in fees to spend it.

Do remember that right now a good part of the reason why the fees are higher than usual is because of the very high trading volumes in exchanges right now as Bitcoin slowly (but surely) rises. This might keep going for a while until the price settles back down. Even so, while smaller chips may not be efficient to use alone, they can still be used in combination to denote smaller values which may be used more frequently than before because of the increasing price. On the other hand, combining chips does decrease the privacy and anonymity of the mixing transaction.
271  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transaction Still Unconfirmed 36+ hours on: November 28, 2017, 07:54:05 PM
You can use the transaction accelerator at https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ to push the transaction. You used a fee that is way too low for the current network congestion.

In addition to that link to figure out what fee you should use, you should also check out the blockchain.info mempool size graphs at https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-size. Looking at these on a 1-day and 7-day range can help you figure out when the mempool is at the smallest size. You can then start to see a pattern with which you can determine what days of the week and what times you should be transacting bitcoins in order to pay the smallest possible fee. This does become kind of annoying, but it is the best possible thing you can do at the moment. Do note that right now the current graphs might not help much as the real reason the network is so congested at the moment is because of the sudden surge in popularity due to the price approaching $10K. Any other time, this method works quite well.
272  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Linking fees to fiat? on: November 28, 2017, 07:47:51 PM
As Thekool1s described, such a system would require a consensus. It would be impossible to implement such system if even a single of the miners disagree with it, which given how you described it to be is actually very likely. Right now, the fees you pay for a transaction to be executed simply put you at a certain priority in the mempool. Miners then (usually) grab those with the highest priority, which would be the ones paying the highest fees. The system would simply interfere with this already natural supply-and-demand transaction flow. Another issue would be how to handle transactions when the mempool is overflowing? How do you prioritize transactions over others? Any possible solution would bring issues. For example, if miners processed transactions by age, the waiting time or delay for transactions to be processed would be enormous during times in which the network is congested. A first-come-first-serve basis is not always ideal, especially when it comes to financial transactions which may have real levels of priorities.
273  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [HERO VOUCHED] Get any eBooks/eTextbooks/Testbanks/Solution-Manuals here on: November 28, 2017, 05:47:00 AM
Hello, there. Do you happen to sell any audiobooks? I have been looking for some to listen to-- none in particular, but I have not been able to find any sourced outside of Audible which has a fairly significant membership fee for what you actually get (which is more of their own channels and podcasts rather than actual audiobooks). If so, I could be quite interested in a few, but I do not see them listed anywhere on the thread, which leads me to believe that you do not actually offer them. Go ahead and PM me if you do, however.
274  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [AUTOBUY]🔑HideMyAss VPN Pro Retail Keys For Cheap Price🔑 on: November 28, 2017, 05:43:46 AM
Hey. Is there any reason you created another thread instead of posting or bumping the old one you made in this same exact section? It almost feels like the reason you did so was to avoid answering the questions asked of you in the previous thread. I also remember a third thread, but I am not sure if you actually were the author of that one.

Regardless, for reference, this is the old thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2460994

Actually, I just checked his post history and he has made quite a few threads all selling the same thing. Not sure why. Perhaps you can answer the questions posted in the other threads instead of just ignoring them?

For example...

What is the source of these "keys?" Are they provided as legitimate keys and is their use within the terms of service of HideMyAss? The last thing I want is for the key to be revoked at some point during the time of service leaving me without any VPN or any money. If the resale of these keys is allowed, I would be completely down for buying a couple of these, as the last seller that was selling these was way too sketchy and did not want to use escrow or go first (or even answer all of the inquiries asked of him).
275  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase in a nutshell on: November 28, 2017, 05:34:32 AM
I heard PayPal was Own Coinbase. If this is true then there is not a wonder why Coinbase turned into a Shit Site...

Actually, Paypal hasn't bought Coinbase (yet) but they are in a close relationship.

Coinbase has always been shitty, even since the start of their services. They are the only web wallet who restricts where your coin comes from
I Don't know why people even use it, it's probably because it's very to buy from there but then why not just buy from there are move you coins to other wallet. Coinbase probably has the worst security as well.

As someone who uses Coinbase somewhat regularly to buy and sell bitcoins, why wouldn't I? It has way better rates than any other service available to me and has a very nice interface and is very easy to use. I know of no other exchange that allows people inside the U.S. to easily trade buy bitcoins at such low fees. If you look at alternatives such as LocalBitcoins, you'll see that these usually require trades to go through annoying processes such as converting into gift cards or prepaid cards instead of sending or receiving actual cash for the traded bitcoins. Furthermore, while the bitcoins are not technically owned by you since you do not have access to their private keys, they do seem to care about giving out the proceeds from any forks. While I do understand the reasoning behind not using Coinbase as a wallet, as an exchange it is actually very convenient and I still have not been able to justify any of the complaints that others have about them.
276  Economy / Services / Re: Wanting To Buy Old Bitcoin Addresses ( $5 Per Address) on: November 25, 2017, 10:14:33 PM
You do realize that even if it is as you say and there is no ulterior motive for buying old bitcoin addressess off others that the other party will still have access to the old address's private key, correct? Even if your true motive really is to just collect the addresses, you are technically just sharing it, really. Furthermore, would you be willing to take old addresses that are no longer eligible for CLAMs, in that case? I'm just trying to clear the air, here.
277  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: FREE VPN [OS X/Windows] - WHOAMI VPN - 6 LOCATIONS - FREE NOW on: November 25, 2017, 10:09:05 PM
In the beginning of next month,  1-5 December new servers will be added. There will be at least added 1 server in each of these locations: Singapore, San Francisco, and Frankfurt.  We will add 1-2 more servers based on what the majority of our users want so please suggest one or multiple locations, thank you!

Are you looking for suggestions to add a server to an existing location or to add a server to a new location? In the former case, in my experience, Switzerland is one of the best locations you could possibly add servers to. I know for a fact that many people, especially those in Europe, use Switzerland along with the Netherlands for their VPN. In the latter case, I would like to suggest adding different locations inside Russia. Different places in Russia can result in much different latencies out of the sheer size of the country.
278  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | 0.00075 BTC/post on: November 25, 2017, 03:06:14 AM
I don't know why people have been getting on DarkStar's case so much recently, so I'll just say that I have never had a better campaign manager and that he seems reasonable given all current circumstances such as when he had to make a 2-week period rather than a single week when he had to be out of town. Furthermore, the amount of money he has escrowed through this campaign alone is extraordinary and I have always been paid on time and will keep updating my trust on him. I would not listen to those butthurt about being unable to join this campaign.

I would have posted this on his reputation thread but it seems to be mostly dead.

280  Economy / Digital goods / Re: NiceVPS ★ Cheap Anonymous Bitcoin Hosting ✔ Fast & Protected VPS starting 1.99/m on: November 25, 2017, 02:49:51 AM
Hello, again. I took a look at your VPN options and was surprised to find out that you include remote port forwarding with your VPNs. This, along with your prices, are instantly attractive to some services I need to run from servers behind a firewall that would need to have their traffic forwarded through the VPN in order to be accessible. I would like to know if the port-forwarding works as a tunnel in order to allow this and how it would interact without the option to have a dedicated IP address, since this would mean that port numbers would likely be restricted among those users using the same IP address. While the actual ports do not matter to me since these servers are not public-facing, I do want to make sure that it is possible to do this through shared IP. Thanks.

Yes, we do offer remote port forwarding with shared IP, that's not a problem.
At the moment that feature is enabled manually via support tickets, the restrictions are of a maximum 5 unused ports per connection and higher ports only allowed (you can't use port 80 for example).

The VPN management panel still in Beta:

That is perfectly fine; I doubt that I will be needing more than 5 ports at any time in the near future and definitely do not need any of the common under-1024 ports that are usually reserved for better known services. I will be trying out the service early next week and will report back soon after. I support any small businesses which avoid the use of corporate software.
