21  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How Do You Secure Your profits? on: January 13, 2018, 10:24:27 AM
I use a paper wallet, saved as a PDF on two USB drives plus an extra actual paper copy.

I use BIP 38 password encryption and password protect them in a ZIP file, I wrote a steemit tut on it if you care to look..

An article I wrote for DeepOnion

What are your thoughts?

STEMMIT : https://steemit.com/freedom/@junetuesdays/deeponion-ethics-and-the-future (DeepOnion - Ethics and The Future — Steemit)

Firstly I would like to say I'm a huge fan of DeepOnion, I'm passionate about the product, believe in the development, think the community is awesome and I'm very excited of what the future holds.

From a politic point of view I'm also on the left and believe everyone has the right to privacy and freedom without cost, its a fundamental human right that we cannot take for granted. That being said we have seen worrying proposed changes how governments around the world wish to "protect" us from dangers / terrorism such as the the UK's Snoopers Charter which for the average Joe seems reasonable but for me its terrifying. This kind invasion of privacy combined with Google Home and the Amazon Echo cold paint for a terrifying future, after all if Hitler had these kind of tools at his disposal his goal would have been accomplished much quicker.

This is why I strongly believe in services such as DeepOnion, VPN's and TOR as it is the only way we can stay protected in a forever changing world. It's also my right to purchase goods and services without the fear of reprisal, If I choose to pay for and x-rated service without disclosing this to bank that is my right, if I choose to self medicate again it is my right. Communities such as DeepOnion restores my faith in this!

However, I also have huge concerns.

Unfortunately the Darkweb has made us aware of a very dark side of humanity, some of the activities and content contained on the Darkweb is very disturbing that being said it is just a reflection of what happens in our society which cannot be ignored. DeepOnion once successful will have a huge part to play in this, people will choose the most anonymous currency so my first question is as a community are we accepting of this? or will we try to shape it in another way?

Then we have to start to think about rogue countries and terrorism will they choose to avoid banks and trade through currencies like DeepOnion? after all the platform is perfect for such trading. Will we make it easier for respected weapon manufacturers to trade anonymously with such groups?

I'm excited but also worried, I want DeepOnion to be on the right side of freedom of privacy not the wrong so my questions is

Is this what the community wants or are we happy either way?

    Lets discuss...

I've put £100 pound in altcoins, and prepared to loose it all however I'm hoping one pays off!

I've gone
DeepOnion - the community!
Safex - why not
LindaCoin - again why not..

If one pays off it will be worth it, if none do I have lost a £100

I would consider them all better odds than the lottery!

Hello All,

Quite new to the crypto game and just wanted your thoughts on this, I'm considering buying bitcoin when the price hits its low aftet the recent news from China.

My question is how low do people think it will drop too? How confident are people that it will recover?

Looking at what happened in Sep-17 it went low but then rapidly increased do you think this will happen again.

https://qz.com/1174091/china-wants-an-orderly-exit-from-bitcoin-mining/

As far as predicting how low price of bitcoin will be, no one can really tell. But there are good TA around here maybe if they are going to chime their expertise, we would understand. But from estimation, bitcoin can go as low as $12,500 before we consolidate and test another bull run. How confident are we if China decided to close its mining farm? Of course we are confident because bitcoin its very resilient. It has proven time and again its ability to recovery from such adversity. Just like what you have pointed out, last September, bitcoin went down significantly, because of the China crisis, but just like before, it recovered slowly and beautifully. China closing its bitcoin farm, will put a dent on the price, no doubt, but you don't need to worry but just hold on your bitcoin and it will just be a matter of time being it can rebound, just like before.

Thanks for your insight, being new it can be scary but i do have faith!

Hold it is then!

I predict the rise of anonymous crypto currencies, after all this was the main purpose behind bitcoin.

The darkweb needs a currency and crypto is the only viable option
27  Economy / Economics / Re: How would Bitcoin react to a global financial crisis? on: January 09, 2018, 08:31:48 PM
I'm of the opinion people will transfer money to something that has proven to hold its value as currencies decrease in value.

Ever since the gold standard was scrapped the concept of money vs assets has become completely pointless, giving banks complete control over wealth creation, literally giving them the power to create wealth and the choice of how it is distributed.

Since then the overall debt of the world has grown so much that it is completely unmanageable, this was always the plan as interest payable on debt is physically impossible to pay back unless someone else loses out which in most cases is poor people through no choice of their own.

The thought of an unregulated currency with no central bank must terrify the financial elites, as this takes away the very control that has made them so rich in the first place and the fact no war can be started to stop it makes it even worse for them.

If people decided to choose bitcoin the entire ecosystem of world economics will change for better or worse I'm not sure, I'm of the opinion people probably will.

Its all pointless as nothing is worth anything unless people are willing to pay for it, bitcoin is no more / less tangible than a dollar bill

Yes!

It happens frequently but unfortunately I cannot control anything other than jumping!

I jump and the more I breth in the higher I get, when this happens I know I'm dreaming and I pretty much start flying but unfortunately this is the only aspect I can control, everything else is out of my hands Sad
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Privacy Coins on: January 08, 2018, 07:13:47 PM
So with bitcoin transactions fees being so expensive and mixing companies taking their cut from every mix, which coin do people think epeople will move too, to ensure their transactions are safe an anonymous?

Deeponion seems to win every pool and its comunity is huge however there is also a large amount of haters out there ready for it to fail!

I'm confident that privacy is key in the crypto world as we see more and more rich people wanting to hide their money from the tax man, the question is will people move it to a trusted and respected privacy coin or not?

The question is which one?

Hello All,

With Brexit in the UK, the highest consumer credit card we have ever seen and the likelyhood of defaulting after March-18 which could potentially trigger another 2008 style crash whats everyones thoughts on crpto currencies in general?

Will it be the new gold?
or
Will the IMF and world banks try to impose more transparency and regulation to avoid this from happening?

Thoughts? Smiley
