1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving Bitcoins for your Children. on: February 02, 2018, 01:27:55 PM
I don't know how it works in other countries but my understanding in the UK (this might also be wrong as I am no expert haha) is that you can gift your relatives/family money in your will and they don't pay inheritance tax etc on it. I wonder if this could apply to BTC in a wallet also or whether they would have to pay taxes on it if they were to turn the them out into cash.
2  Other / Off-topic / Re: What age to teach kids about crypto? on: February 02, 2018, 01:13:07 PM
I think it depends on how they would be taught.

IMO it would be far better to teach them money management, finance skills and analytical/research skills related to any form of cash/currency/stocks and shares at secondary school (ages 11-16) THEN allow them to take those skills and build up an understanding of crypto by which time they will have matured some what and have a better respect for money.

If you don't have a sensible foundation of management, risk/reward understanding, etc. then to teach someone about something which many see as an investment opportunity could be potentially dangerous.

Equally when teaching about crypto there are a million angles to teach from; philosophy, history, security, international and governmental control methods, chart and graph analysis, practical applications, tech and coding behind the main CC's and the list goes on.

Also not sure I would trust someone if they turned around and told me they were an expert/able to teach it at the present considering its still fairly juvenile in the grand scheme of things.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gone under 10000 on: February 01, 2018, 04:12:15 PM
Like SrEasts said, lots of FUD atm. That alongside the news today being filled with the stuff about India hasn't helped.

Its unfortunate that every media outlet is grabbing any opportunity to jump down the throat of Bitcoin and Crypto's in general but then negative news sells more papers than positive so its a given that this would be the case really.. I'm sure with some patience and time, things will about turn in favour of BTC though Smiley
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holding will be a risk or not?? on: January 30, 2018, 03:10:54 PM
Every action has a risk including holding but if you are selling for less than you brought then you aren't necessarily reducing your risk you are just removing your options. I guess if you have invested carefully and are able to afford to lose what you put in then why worry?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is Net Neutrality another unfortunate hurdle that BTC will have to overcome? on: January 29, 2018, 08:47:09 PM
Hi Guys,

So I was reading an article about net neutrality (NN) in America the other day and about the FCC trying to bring down NN.

In the unfortunate event that the FCC one day win and NN becomes distant memory, do you think BTC can survive?

Will it impact the mining community or do you think they will absorb the costs of paying for the highest quality internet service and pass the costs onto fees?

Is BTC still reliant on mining to the point that its severely threatened if mining is lessened or because people aren't spending it atm and are mostly trading it instead do you think the impact won't be so great as it once might have been when BTC was in its ultimate infancy?

Do you think we, as non-miners in the BTC community would have to pay for higher quality internet service to avoid lag-time on live charts and market movements?

This isn't intended to be a FUD thing btw  Cheesy I am backing BTC all the way, just curious on other peoples views. Even more so because I am in the UK and I am unsure how the FCC enforcing the removal of NN would impact those beyond the US borders as well as those within the borders. Smiley
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First UK's bitcoin robbery. Stay safe. on: January 29, 2018, 06:18:45 PM
If there is anyone who is worried about this then its my personal opinion that the best thing you can do is hold multiple hard wallets. A sacrificial wallet which, should you ever be threaten personally or through family, you give up. The other wallet.. well quite literally don't tell anyone about it ever. Cool

Equally, if you have a sufficient amount of BTC that you are worth robbing perhaps you could spend some of it on security or a BG? who knows lol.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Money Laundering is Less Than One Percent of All Bitcoin Transactions on: January 21, 2018, 08:11:08 PM
Unfortunately a number of banks here in the UK have started to ban people using their profits via Bitcoin/Crypto's as a deposits on housing.

Their reasoning is that it can't be proven that it hasn't come from the proceeds of money laundering so unless you have 6 months to a year of financial records to show where it is coming from you can't use it :/

So regardless of the percentage of transactions used for illegal transactions its having a wide ranging impact which is a pain, particularly if it escalates to paying off mortgages, debt and whatever else.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upcoming BTC Forks - Please can someone explain them in layman terms? on: December 21, 2017, 04:01:06 PM
Thanks for the responses guys Smiley So where does our BTC need to be to claim these free fork coins? In a cold store wallet or on a trading platform? Are there any particular trading platforms which usually cater for new/upcoming forks? Not gonna turn down free cash or btc so gotta ask Smiley
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Upcoming BTC Forks - Please can someone explain them in layman terms? on: December 09, 2017, 11:42:49 PM
Hi Guys! Cheesy

So i've been scrolling through the posts of late and there is chatter here and there about the upcoming multiple forks relating to bitcoin.

No wanting to sound ignorant (also apologise if this has been asked/answered elsewhere) but what exactly are these forks?
How/why are they coming into existence?
Will we be given 'free' CC for holding BTC?
Do we need to be on any particular platforms (coinbase/gdax/bittrex/etc) if the answer to my last question was yes?
Is it wise to hold them or sell them if we get them?
Is there a consensus that BTC forking multiple times is positive, negative or neither for BTC from those of you with more experience of these things?

Thanking you any answers in advance Smiley
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is holding bitcoin Greedy? on: December 09, 2017, 11:39:04 AM
I don't believe so. It would be like saying that putting your savings in the highest interest bank is greedy. There is an opportunity to invest in something which can legally return both long and short term gains, to take that opportunity can't be greedy.

Greed IMO is a badge worn mostly with hindsight. If you are winning, life is good and noone is getting hurt its not greedy. The second you lose and things take a turn, it is only natural to consider that sometimes it wouldn't have happened if one wasn't 'greedy'.
