So is this a fork of another coin or build from the ground up???

It is a fork of lisk .

And before that it was the first Ethereum fork.

Why is market not reacting at all to the PIVX tech advancements? Do people simply do not care or whats up with that? We are holding nice USD value but in satoshis PIVX is way way down from where he was before and there has been so many news and improvements. There is nothing else team and community could have done differently but still seems like so many literal shitcoins are getting theyr price pumped and PIVX sits here getting obliterated by BTC.

A day early perhaps. :-)

Have been following and invested for a while.

Even in the Darknet days when it was a top 200 coin, I have always admired the devs' desire to do things the right way. It was a very pleasant surprise, when in terms of BTC, PIVX suddenly become a significant part of my portfolio last spring.

Even with all bumps along the road. I HODL and POS for the future. I appreciate the new features, efforts of the devs and other team members.

what the hell; mandatory wallet every month.

Yes, it's terrible when a coin rolls out brand new features, isn't it? So inconvenient.

Code:
git pull
git checkout v3.0.5
./autogen.sh
./configure
make
cd src/
cp pivxd pivx-cli pivx-tx ~/bin

5  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin core and Bitcoin ABC on the same Linux machine on: November 13, 2017, 10:16:47 PM
Ok, understood. You use symlinks directly to the files, not to the whole directory. Makes sense, I haven't thought about this.

And thanks for describing the way to split the chain after the fork.
Just in the case someone download a complete new version of the blockchain, it might get tricky to find the correct last common data file as all files would have more or less the same time stamp (+/- 1 or 2 days, depends on download and validation speed).
That's true.  I think stopping at blk00925.dat and rev00925.dat would be safe.  They were last updated on 7/6/2017 on my system.  There will be some variation in the .dat files depending on the number of orphan blocks encountered, but that should be early enough that all blocks would be before the split.

Can confirm, blk0925.dat has also been last updated on 7/6/2017 on my system.

Some helpful info here. Thanks!

Wish I thought about using symlinks earlier. :-) I ended up setting up btrfs and using
Code:
cp --reflink=always /home/bitcoind/.bitcoin/blocks/blk* /home/bitcoinabc/.bitcoin/blocks/

Getting more experience with copy on write filesystems doesn't hurt.

I am not sure exactly what do you do with the above command?

Basically, if using a filesystem that supports copy-on-write... the file system uses the same file for the files in both places (like a symlink, without using more space except for metadata) until one of the files is changed. When one of the files is changed a new copy could be made or the difference between the files could be stored depending on the filesystem or settings.

I've been following Karbowanec for a few months now. It's very interesting and has potential. I like the idea of a "National" cryptocurrency.

I find Cryptofolio handy for keeping track of interesting coins, so I added it to the vote list... (a free vote every hour)... I don't think coins are added exactly according to the schedule anymore but they do get added regularly.

https://cryptofolio.info/ -> vote

So close.

KRB was quite far ahead in 2nd place and it looked like it would easily stay in 2nd until the next weekend... but something called "funk" has been getting alot of votes...

Hi,

A possible problem with links from other sites that have the URL rewritten or redirected...

For example, I click this link ...
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/pair/uno/btc/averageprice/5-days

...and the browser continues to this URL, where the chart doesn't render properly.

https://cryptocoincharts.info//pair/uno/btc/averageprice/5-days

If I remove the extra slash, things look ok.

https://cryptocoincharts.info/pair/uno/btc/averageprice/5-days

Anyway, thanks for the site! Useful information!
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sci-fi coin online status. on: June 16, 2017, 12:43:52 PM
I want create new coin and consolidate some old sci-fi coins in it.
Working name United Sci-fi Coin.
Premine 20% - for swap old coins.
DPZ, UFC, SPICE - unlimited swap, but limited time.
GPL, KED, QBT - up to 5-10% of its supply.
All swapped GPL, KED, QBT go to Cryptopia reward system and cryptoguru.tk Faucet.
DPZ, UFC, SPICE go to my addresses and keep for future use.
New coin will be CryptoBuck2 clone with some changes.
Any thoughts?

I have found my UFC wallets and managed to sync and combine them... I guess there is no explorer. The chain is moving along at minimum difficulty.

My thoughts...

- UFC seems to support multisig addresses. Maybe for the swap, 2 of 2 multisigaddresses could be used.  This way possible "future use" could be agreed on...
- If coins are burnt, the remaining spendable coins become more rare. I won't say more valuable. Part of the value is that other people hold coins and are willing to exchange them for something.
- Maybe coins sent for swap could have different value based on the time of their previous TX or when they were mined. News of a swap could create a sudden interest in mining, but then again, that's what difficulty is for.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sci-fi coin online status. on: June 16, 2017, 09:41:35 AM
Current nodes for UFC:
Code:
addnode=47.20.250.38
addnode=118.190.14.253
addnode=51.15.130.151
addnode=64.71.72.56

Where can we find the last UFC binaries ?
I have an old client (2.5.5) and it won't connect/sync...

Do you have an ETA for the new coin USFC ?

Thanks!
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 10, 2017, 08:54:33 PM
Any idea why I received BYTES but not a single BLACKBYTE?

Maybe you made the same noob mistake as me, I moved my BYTES off the exchange to an address that was not linked to a BTC address.

Reading afterwards, The transition bot said "Move your bytes to one of the linked addresses in order to maximize the amount of blackbytes you receive."
There will be the next round.

Thanks!

Will, dig up the wallet and try resyncing, in the next couple days and see what happens.

Have some UFC kicking around... Even mined a few more blocks some time last year... then turned it off...

I guess there are now peers up. Does anyone have a recent blockchain? Anyway, would be happy to swap.

1st Physical PIVX coin, detailed spec + order info

How the coin is created using a complex seven-step process. :

  • The coin is printed in wax using a specialized high-resolution 3D Printer.
  • It is then placed in a container where liquid plaster is poured in around it.
  • Once the plaster sets the wax is melted out in a furnace and the remaining plaster becomes the mold.
  • Molten brass is poured into this mold and set to harden.
  • The plaster is broken away, and the coin is carefully cleaned and hand polished.
  • The coin goes through two plating steps - 1st a layer of Rhodium is applied to provide strength and durability.
  • 2nd layer of 18k Gold is applied.

They look really nice!

The process of creating the addresses and key and applying the holograms requires a lot of trust from the user.

How this process is handled could be explained in more detail ?

Perhaps the address and key creation process could be audited, tested, witnessed by a technically knowledgeably 3rd party.

Hi Paul,

Now that DNET is going to pass to POS phase and well, I hope to the moon and so on I'm a bit concerned about MN's security. Is there something we should know or we can follow the instructions of some of the (very good) DASH MN's security setup available out there???

Thanks.
Hi
thers lots we can do to lock the MN down even furthere
how far do you want to go with ti

thanks
Paul

What are the options? Your servers haven't got the coins on so don't see why your side would need any more?

Well the first thing you can do is change the port for ssh to somthing different
That would make it harder to access and safer.
But like you said we don't Hold any coins on the vps server it's all in your wallets

any recommendations on securing home wallet? got good pass, computer isnt used for internet browsing, got good antivirus and firewall and use VPN. any other ideas?

- Not running any unnecessary services,  on the machine where it is.
- Not running windows...
- Backup paper wallet(s) / USB stored in a safe deposit box
- Planning for transfer of control of the wallet to spouse, children in the event of death (instructions, pointers to a trusted person capable of helping to access funds)
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] NAV COIN - ANONYMOUS TECH. ● NAV 2.0 SOON ● NEW ROADMAP ● CHAT ● on: July 06, 2016, 12:39:32 AM
insane price action on polo , over 9k sato atm

Looks like someone is messing around since poloniex has the old wallet. ( I assume new addresses start with N).
This has been quite common on yobit when they had wallet under maintenance.

If you have NAV on poloniex, it would be a good time to sell there for BTC and buy on bittrex...

Odd that the prices on other exchanges haven't gone up to match.  It's usually almost instantaneous.

It's always good to be cautious when there appears to be an arbitrage opportunity.
Bittrex has 4250784 NAV for sale, Poloniex has  221539 (old nav).
It doesn't cost much to generate some excitement  on polo there...
Someone will get excited and buy... or buy elsewhere and try to send to polo and sell. (which they can't)
... and then the buy wall disappears.
