Having gathered a lot of scientists most likely will not give nothing. Any project moves thanks to only one person with a unique mindset. So no need to make congresses. Which newcomers will accidentally open a way to better mobilize.

Not really the case always. The key to solving complex problems is sometimes to assemble the best talent and allowing them to brainstorm. Let's face it Blockchain scalability is a complex problem due to the theoretical limitations. We'll need the best in business, whether its Cryptography or Distributed Systems or Economics.

Sounds like they might have Cousins back for the Finals. I’d like to see him and Durant get back healthy. I don’t think the Bucks stand a chance against them, but I think the Raptors might be able to win a game if they can get there. Either way, Houston was the only real threat this year.

Before the Raps series, the Bucks looked like the real deal. Giannis was on a roll and Bledsoe was playing really well at PG. They also got Brogdon back. But Bledsoe has been abysmal in the last two games, Brook Lopez hasn't played great either. I still fancy the Bucks to come out of the East due to their depth and home court advantage.

They are in finals now. Even without Kevin Durant, I think they are taking down whoever comes from the East (Milwaukee or Toronto). Steph is back to 2015 MVP level, Draymond has been fantastic and Klay is also chipping in.

One of the reasons that there is no big investment is that there are no better technologies offered in the Blockchain.

I would disagree with this statement. There is a lot of money coming into blockchain. In fact, multi-billion dollar venture funds like Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital are betting big on some projects.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Blockchain Projects and Academia on: May 22, 2019, 04:34:50 AM
Yesterday, I came across an article written by Blockchain at Berkeley about the role of academia in blockchain (Link). It is not a coincidence that most of the high profile projects in my radar have very strong ties to some of the top tier universities in the world. For example Dfinity, Filecoin, Enigma, Oasis Labs etc. It is interesting to note that these projects also crave a lot of attention of big investors (talking VCs). To quote from the article

"Technological limitations associated with scalability, privacy, and interoperability currently limit much of today’s most important blockchain infrastructure. Many investors believe that the solutions to these limitations will be sourced from the world of academia: home of cutting-edge discoveries and many leading cryptography and distributed systems experts."

This makes sense to me; the technology is challenging and it makes perfect sense to bring researchers, professors, and Ph.D.students together and find answers to some of the major issues like scalability. Also, as small investors looking for opportunities in this space this is also a good determinant while making your investments.  What do you guys think?

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you dreaming to launch your own coin? on: May 21, 2019, 06:21:18 AM
Hell no! Why add to the misery of hundred and thousand tokens out there serving very little purpose? Would rather build something useful (a dapp) on an existing platform and leave this world with sanity.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best decentralized social network based on Blockchain tech? on: April 27, 2019, 06:42:51 AM
Which social network platform based on Blockchain technology do you think is the best? Will it be Steem or the Akasha platform?

With growing concerns about Facebook's privacy measures, it seems that people are looking for other alternatives which are capable of protecting their personal data better. So far, Steem is the pioneer in the decentralized social media space, and it has attracted thousands of people worldwide. However, it's still far from behind as centralized social networks like Facebook and Twitter are in the lead.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? Any recommendations or suggestions related to said decentralized social networks will be highly appreciated. Also, I would appreciate if you could let me know of other new alternative social networks (apart from Steem and Akasha) that make use of Blockchain technology. Smiley

Unfortunately, none of them have been great. Steemit has turned very sluggish these days. Part of the reason why Facebook has been so successful is that their user interface has been swift - content loads super fast. I guess then the prime requirement for any decentralized social network is that the underlying blockchain that is built upon can scale and support a very large userbase without slowing it down.

Another huge aspect when it comes to decentralized social networks is content curation and removal of objectionable content. This is where it gets tricky - For Facebook, this is easy, they have a set terms & conditions that follow suit with the legal jurisdiction of operation which allows them to use a task force for moderation. How do you enforce such a thing in a decentralized network?

I suppose the solution will be to use Artificial Intelligence-based system that enables something like a liquid democracy to formulate a set of rules that govern the network and ultimately make decisions that is in accordance with these rules. DFINITY is attempting something like this through their Blockchain Nervous System - Think of this as voting based, decentralized decision-making system that grows more intelligent and learns to make better decisions over time. I think something like a BNS would be needed for any social network that needs to be "decentralized" in the true sense of the word. I mean a social network wouldn't be a decentralized network if a small number of people can hold a meeting and change the governing rules overnight.

Interview with President and chief scientist Dominic Williams in which where he talks about Dfinity's future. With its "Internet Computer", Dfinity is thinking much beyond blockchain.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Data Feed in smart contract? on: April 10, 2019, 03:44:13 PM
Hello everyone, I'm needing your help: D

How can I get the ETH price data in my contract in solidity language?

I tested chainlink, until I got the testnet price, but I could not get the price to my contract.

I would get the price every time someone send or withdraw features.
Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Since this is a programming related question you'll need to ask this in Stack Overflow or some other forums related to Solidity programming. Btw, have you looked at Oraclize?  Smart contracts interact with the outside world through oracles and Oraclize is a provider. They have published code for sample apps on their Github. For example, here is the Kraken Cryptocurrency Price Tracker sample app
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lost coins? on: April 09, 2019, 03:44:19 PM

Wallet addresses is a hexadecimal number, which cointains more possible addresses, than humans existing on the earth - Of course not 100% correct beacuse a coins address whould be same lenght +-
which will restrict the possible amount. Why? Because of safety? Or maybe the posibilty to scale the network?

is there any coins with some kind of function that checks if the recieving wallet address has ever been active? If not - Why? would it ruin any kind of privacy/anonymity?

Depends on the blockchain network and the wallets that you're using to send your coins. In case of Bitcoin, the address is a PubKeyHash encoded in Base58 with a version value and a checksum. All bitcoin wallets check if addresses are valid, so in the event of a typo, funds won't be sent.  In Ethereum's case, EIP-55 addresses checksum validation, but not sure if all wallets/exchanges support it.

In summary, one could say the probability of individual sending funds to an invalid address (due to typos, empty space, copy paste errors etc.) is very low as the wallets & exchanges mostly implement these checks and lets the users know.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook is raising money for Facebook Coin on: April 09, 2019, 02:56:12 PM

Decent article, but remember this is not the first time Facebook has come up with something like this - Think Facebook Credits. It was, basically, a failed experiment. This time their focus seems to be on the global remittance economy and this system would probably enable users to send money through Whatsapp & Messenger. But don't think this is going to be easy as most non-first world countries (recipients of highest remittances) have a huge money laundering problem & their regulators wouldn't want something like this happening on a massive scale.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is ethereum not using threshold signatures like dfinity for randomness? on: April 09, 2019, 05:21:06 AM
Why is ethereum not using threshold signatures like dfinity for randomness?

I'm assuming you're talking about Ethereum 2.0 with PoS & Sharding. Think it's due to the differences the design goals of these two networks  - Dfinity favors consistency over availability as explained in their consensus paper (see page 2). Ethereum on the other hand, seem to favor availability and Justin Drake, in this post seems to suggest that RANDAO in conjunction with VDF suits their principles.

Personally, I think Dfinity's impetus on consistency makes more sense, especially since we are talking monetary systems & enterprise adoption.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DFINITY - Are we looking at the third generation Blockchain? on: April 03, 2019, 06:01:38 AM
It's been more than a year since the last post on this topic about Dfinity.  Smiley

The network launch (& airdrop) has been delayed, but the rationale has been explained very well in this Medium post by Dominic Williams, Chief Scientist of Dfinity. The biggest takeaway for me is the fact that the team has grown to around 50+ members. If you dig deep into the profiles of these recruits, you've got to be impressed by each & every one of them - I mean, you've some of the top cryptographic researchers in the world, Programming Language experts & Engineering managers who are mostly Ex-Google & Ex-Facebook. A new research center has been established in Zurich, in addition to the primary office in Palo Alto.

Dfinity is also running a scholarship program for students.

Hi there!

We’re stoked to let you know that you can now start claiming your reward from the Arweave bounty program!

We want to thank you for your contributions and for the hard work you’ve put into writing articles and reviews, designing infographics, filming videos, and creating so much impressive content about Arweave.

With your contribution to the Arweave bounty campaign, you have earnt the following amount of AR tokens:

Article: 200 AR

Here’s how you claim your bounty reward:

1) Generate your new wallet

Follow this link https://me.upvest.co/ and complete a few simple steps to create your wallet with our first wallet partner, Upvest. This should take only a few minutes to complete. Your wallet will be generated in an extremely secure fashion, so that only you will ever have access to it. You can verify the validity of this email and the Upvest.co wallet by checking your browser’s ‘secure’ padlock symbol in the URL bar, and by noting the Upvest logo among our partners.

Please note that AR tokens are native tokens, not ERC-20 tokens, so existing wallets (such as MyEtherWallet) are not compatible with AR tokens.

2) Directly reply to this message (quoting this message) carefully confirming your new Upvest wallet address.

Please be careful when copying & pasting this, because this is where we will send your AR tokens. Tokens sent to invalid addresses cannot be recovered.

You can obtain your Upvest wallet address by signing in to your Upvest wallet (https://me.upvest.co/signin), clicking the ‘Deposit’ button, and then clicking the ‘Copy wallet address’ button.

---

Once your wallet is set up and you have confirmed your wallet address, we’ll transfer your AR tokens to it in the next batch. You will be able to see your wallet balance as soon as your tokens have been sent to you, and you will receive an email from Upvest when the tokens reach your wallet.

Thank you for joining us in building a truly permanent public, open, borderless, and decentralised new form of blockchain that will allow anyone to create and immutably store content for our collective future. With your help, we are achieving permanent, low-cost, and truly censorship free data storage for the very first time.

If you have any questions, reach out to us via team@arweave.org, we’ll be happy to help.

Best,
Arweave team

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest regrets in cryptocurrency? on: July 11, 2018, 06:57:46 AM
The decision to hold on to tokens, rather than converting them to ETH when the market was at the top. Some of the tokens I hold have tanked more than 300%. Ether still remains a store of value.

Yeah, man! Trust only reputed managers and good companies. Do the research yourself and only put in work for campaigns that looks legitimate.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CAN BINANCE REALLY BE HACKED? THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE. on: July 04, 2018, 07:44:05 AM
Don't jump to conclusions yet, the article heading says "Binance Potentially Hacked". Potentially - right? So, we don't know anything. It could well be abuse of the account API keys or issue with some third-party bot trading software. Lets wait and see!
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why people try to create their own coins? on: July 04, 2018, 07:38:40 AM
Because that is one of the purposes of decentralization - Its called tokenization. Tokenisation of every asset - physical or virtual. No one token can have all power. In fact, that situation creates maximalism.
