481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / installed qt client in ubuntu but the language is wrong on: November 08, 2013, 09:47:02 PM
Does anyone know who to set the language? Also is it possible to change the path to where I want to store the block chain? I'd like to put it on an external hdd.
482  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which operating system(s) do you use? (Poll) on: November 08, 2013, 07:14:53 PM
actually I can't think of many reasons why anyone would use, as a home desktop, Win xp. Win 7 is so much better, and if you don't like sharing software and can't afford it, there are plenty of Linux distros out there that are way better than old xp.

Who's using Windows other than XP thru 7? Why in god's name haven't you at least upgraded to XP?

I was wondering that too. what else is still out there being used, maybe a few people with windows 98, 2000 and ME?

Ah yes I forgot about that, somehow they used the avatar uploading to hack the site as I understand.

I wanted to add an avatar but it seems it's not keeping the selection. is there a restriction on number of posts or something like that?

490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we worry about what the Chicago Federal Reserve said? on: November 07, 2013, 09:07:08 PM
I didn't read the whole thing, but I think one of the best things about btc is that it's teaching people that we don't need the violence of the state of have money.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we support altcoins ? on: November 07, 2013, 08:57:39 PM
Only bitcoin.

Spreading mining power out will weaking bitcoin.

I think it would be near impossible to get the same sort of spread in terms of who gets coins to begin with, if we started over.

thats a good point, it seems like it somehow everyone dropped btc then the big miners would get a whole lot of the alt-coins real fast, but I don't know maybe it would be fine.
492  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Opinion on the US on: November 07, 2013, 07:18:00 PM
a lot of good people living under a dangerous government. The world would be a lot better place if the US government didn't exist.

The same tune has been sung for every empire in history Tongue  If it's not the US, it's somebody else.

Yes it's true, there is always the worst.
493  Economy / Services / Re: I will help with anything! on: November 07, 2013, 07:15:14 PM
I can't think of anything I need but I think this is a neat idea to get some btc
494  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many coins do we think have been lost forever? on: November 07, 2013, 07:09:22 PM
I think as the value goes up and up, there will be a lot less people losing their bitcoin. Heck I spent the few I had a long time ago too recklessly.
495  Bitcoin / Project Development / PPcoin is over 50 cents now, but why on: November 07, 2013, 07:00:35 PM
Could it be riding the wave of bitcoin? or are people starting to see it as a useful tool?

496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we support altcoins ? on: November 07, 2013, 06:57:58 PM
I will support any alt-coin, I expect many will fail, but I hope at least some succeed. I think it would be good to see several different options out there in the long, say, 20 year term.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Silk Road 2.0 bad news for Bitcoin? on: November 07, 2013, 06:56:02 PM
I don't know if this is bad or not for BTC but I'm glad to see the site come back up, these politicians need to know they can't control the information like they want to.
498  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Opinion on the US on: November 07, 2013, 06:46:28 PM

499  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What if Governments seen that BTC could jeopardize for their economy? on: November 07, 2013, 06:40:32 PM
It could happen but I think they are too late in the big picture, not because of bitcoin but because enough people can now see that they don't need the government for their money.
