1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Price manipulation? on: December 28, 2017, 09:45:39 AM
I can't help but question certain patterns that we all have probably witnessed at some point or another. Most easy to spot would be with lower volume coins obviously.

Often with certain altcoins Ill see trades of measly amounts, even as low as 1 or 2 to drive down the price. Is this a sign of price manipulation? All it would take is a well timed trade to set off a downtrend, especially at price points where the trade price is sensitive due to psychological factors.

So are we witnessing manipulation? With alt coins that I frequently witness these patterns, I notice the price seems to be held below a certain point consistently and it goes through the same price swings like clockwork.

nobody can answer this?
3  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Have people been forced to pay tax over Bitcoin yet? on: December 27, 2017, 02:27:45 PM
These are some of the stupidest nonsensical replies I've ever seen. Are you all criminals? In the united states there is a 25% capital gains tax on all net profits from deposits made to crypto exchanges. And if you do not report how much you deposited into the exchange to begin with, your ENTIRE withdrawal will be taxed. Not fun huh? Hold the crypto for a year or longer and you fall under long-term gains which is anywhere from 0-20%.

Seriously, no Koreans on here? South Korea will probably be setting a capital gains tax similar to the US from what they decided during their emergency crypto meeting. Everyone talking like it's the wild west, wake up. This isn't 2010, the crypto market cap is no longer negligible, if you live in a 1st or 2nd world country that even allows crypto trading, the taxes are already on their way.
4  Economy / Service Discussion / question about the closing price disparity between binance/gdax on: December 27, 2017, 07:53:44 AM
Please excuse my ignorance as I have only been reading about crypto for less than 2 weeks.

I noticed that about a week ago, binance was listing LTC, ETH, and BTC at prices roughly 10% lower than Gdax did.On binance, BTC = $1k USD cheaper, ETH = about $50 cheaper, LTC, about $30 cheaper.

Today, this gap has been closed to less than 5% price disparity between the 2 exchanges in LTC, ETH, and BTC.

What is the reason for this? Is it globally economic factors, such as a change in exchange rate ratios between major currencies?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NYC] NEW YORK COIN at 2017 MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE IN NYC! on: December 26, 2017, 06:44:39 AM
Will be ready in no time. Don't hesitate to buy the NYC cheapies, or too late!

Bruhh cheapies are pretty much gone xDD

Also, follow my crypto twitter, I'm trying to promote NYC on there, it'd be nice for everyone to leave good replies so other people get interested.
@iCryptoPro

I still see a 35 btc sell order on yobit for .00015, still relatively cheap!
6  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does 2fa for withdrawing/transferring make an exchange safer? on: December 24, 2017, 06:59:30 AM
When any crypto is on an exchange wallet, the exchange holds the private keys to that wallet yes? So I guess my question is how common is an attack at a level where 2fa for withdrawing/transferring coins is rendered useless?
7  Economy / Exchanges / Does 2fa for withdrawing/transferring make an exchange safer? on: December 24, 2017, 06:50:32 AM
I am asking because I noticed this is not something all exchanges do. Also super paranoid question, if an exchange prevents you from withdrawing for 24h after disabling 2fa, would I be safe from a hack on an exchange if my account fell under this category? Like if I were paranoid enough, to make sure my funds stay locked on the exchange, I would disable/re-enable 2fa every day to ensure that the exchange does not allow a withdrawal if say there were a hack.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am I late to the party? on: December 17, 2017, 07:11:27 AM
Let's put it this way, I WISH I was like OP who was on this forum, asking this question 2 full months ago, when the entire crypto market cap was in the $200B range. Look at it today, almost $600B! This is a global economy guys, and we have a long road of growth ahead of us. The expected growth alone of this market will make even the most unknown sh!tcoins in the 100+ rankings worth several times what it is today at this moment, as long as they remain in play. Got in the game 2 weeks ago, what I would give for 2 months ago!
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ACP - 10000% gain, but on one exchange? on: December 15, 2017, 02:40:32 AM
Hi so I am looking at AnarchistsPrime (ACP) and it is showing as gaining almost 10000% on Coinmarketcap. However it is only trading at that increase on Nova exchange, 1 of 3 exchanges trading ACP. I see no news or developments about this crypto, any input from experts here?

Can some users with higher post count weigh in on this alt? Seeing alot of generic replies from sub 100 post users worries me.
