I made the document your looking for but I'm not handing that info out for free.

Once I did that, all the 5830's sold out across the board in 1 week.
Now I'm S.O.L.

Thanks for letting me know: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=9674.0

I think that's a total coincidence.  The 5830 has been recommended in the Wiki Mining Rig page for weeks:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_rig

It's also the cheapest card to buy to get into the game with little investment.  I think that's the reason why it sold out, not because of your chart.

I agree. Some people think they're cooler then they are...
8  Bitcoin / Mining / Hardware Comparision done in Excel on: June 08, 2011, 04:12:14 PM
I've seen a guy's comparision of a bunch of GPUs including watt/$ and other various ratios.  It was done in excell 2007 and was color coded green (most favorible) to red (least favorible).  Anyone happen to have the URL in their favorites?

Go to the add/remove programs list and remove all AMD/ATi and APP/Stream installations.
Restart the system 2 times and than install the latest 11.5 catalyst drivers.

This has worked for me several times.

just finished....  still broke. plz send help! Sad

Just one card plugged in.

just reinstalled drivers.  Reason being is I would boot to desktop and then after 10 seconds or so it would go to a light black screen with similar colored vertical lines.  Had to boot into safe mode, deactivate the driver in device manager, boot into normal mode, reinstall driver, reboot in normal mode and works fine...  Only thing is now GUIMiner doesn't see a card, only my CPU.  Device manager sees card, Afterburner sees the card....

Drivers seemed to work but now GUIMiner doesn't see it despite reinstalling SDK.
14  Bitcoin / Mining / GUIMiner Cant find video card on: June 03, 2011, 08:28:26 PM
Call me a newb....

I mined for a while and then ran into computer issues.  Reinstalled GPU drivers seemed to work.  However, now GUIMiner can't find my card.  I've reinstalled the SDK thingy even though GUIMiner wasn't saying I was missing it.

Any thoughts?  I'm not l33t enough to use Linux... Sad
15  Bitcoin / Mining / Can a 5830 fit into a PCIe x1 slot? on: June 03, 2011, 01:33:45 PM
So I just got my flexible connector and damn if that card wont fit in the x1 slot...  I have to like shimmy it in and it sits at an angle in the slot...  Am I doing sometihng wrong or can this card not fit?

I should also note that I put my old graphics card (9600 GTO) in and the whole thing ran smoothly...
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Something Happened to my 5830... on: June 03, 2011, 11:53:34 AM
So I went away on a vacation for almost a week.  I was checking my hash rate on the mobile phone every couple hours.  The day we were heading back deepbit went offline.  I also lost power a couple hours after that.  5 days later.....  Power finally comes back on.

Now when I boot the computer, it boots to the desktop and after about 20 seconds of believing everything is normal, the screen goes black.  I look a little closer and realize its not a true black, as in off, but a lighter black with vertical lines.  I can't team if the computer is responding to keyboard (as I don't ahve lights on the keyboard) but if I had to guess, I'd say it is.

Now this is a newer card that ran for a week straight without a problem.  I can also boot into safe mode without the screen going "black"

Any thoughts?

Do you think I could grab one of those for each of my two laptops, throw in a 5830 in each and run them on one 500watt power supply?  Is the limiting factor for mining always the GPU?  These laptops are like 5-6 years old.
19  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Upgrading a rig for under $500. What are my options? on: May 22, 2011, 09:38:53 PM
Alright, I've found extenders.  I see where I'll have to get creative.... Smiley

These are the only risers I can find... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158099&cm_re=x1_riser-_-15-158-099-_-Product

As you can imagine, these wouldn't help given my MoBo layout.  Am I missing something here?

Thank you for your continued patients with me. Smiley
