Stable? Are you serious? I think you're confusing something. Bitcoin is completely unstable, as well as any other currency. The rate is rising then falling but recently there has been a noticeable tendency to decline.

One such reason is hard to be called here rather the aggregate of such reasons, but still the main reason I consider the political news of individual countries' leaders, such as China, Japan, Indonesia. When the news are good then the rate increases when there are some prohibitions related to the crypto currency in these countries, then the rate falls.

You can hold on to it and hedge on the price falling by using CFD. I keep all my Bitcoin in a wallet, but when the price was falling I sold some Bitcoin CFDs and they made profits, so it balanced out. My Bitcoin lost a bit of value, but I made some cash from it falling which I should probably buy cheaper Bitcoin with

I wouldn't be surprised if it's something we are seeing. It's kind of building a foundation, then will re-rate a bit higher. Everything is possible in this life. After 20k $ for bitcoin, I will not be surprised at anything

Ethereum might not ever reach Bitcoin’s individual coin price simply because there are a lot more Ethers out there (and no set cap) vs BTCs but the overall market cap will be exceeded relativity soon. They are only $8 billion apart and I anticipate that within the next month, Ethereum’s market cap will be above Bitcoins.

It is probably easiest to mine coins which use the Cryptonight algorithm, as others have suggested, Monero (XMR) or Bytecoin (BCN) are both good options which have grown in value considerable over the past year. If you choose to mine Monero, you can do what is called dual-mining (Mining two coins at the same time)
