4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: January 25, 2016, 05:11:01 PM
I read where FACTOM will also 'anchor' itself to other blockchains for security and redundancy

Have any other blockchains been considered; my first thoughts would be Ethereum and/or NXT for starters
5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Yesminer M20 / M10 on: January 25, 2016, 05:09:18 PM
Ebay vouchers cant be real, why would they sell miner worth of 4k€ sell it for 1k€. Also selling history is not correct. They sell everyday 1-2 miners and there is no record of it on listing. They are bidding themselves.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cryptoGlance [v2.1] :: Open-source, self-hosted, multi-rig monitoring tool! on: January 25, 2016, 05:08:26 PM
Is there a reason why Ghash is not in the list of Pools to setup? Is there a way I can setup Ghash? All that paranoia about a take over. Never came close. I ask people why they don't like Ghash and they can't really tell me why. They just go along with whatever everyone else is saying.
7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 152 blocks solved! on: January 25, 2016, 05:06:38 PM

9  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My set-up to heat house using bitmain S7 (UPDATE 03JAN2016) on: January 25, 2016, 05:04:37 PM
Came up with a redneck solution instead, has killed the high-pitch sound, so its not a problem anymore.
What I did was basically make sure all the miners get direct cold air from the outside, which made the temps go down. And then the fans didn't have to work as hard anymore, problem solved (for now).
10  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: January 25, 2016, 05:03:26 PM
One can generate a private key on his tablet and copy it to clipboard, but this entails prohibitive risk, so for all practical purposes mycelium now can only import a key in the form of a qr code (from a second device or from a paper wallet).
11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: January 25, 2016, 05:02:41 PM
I'd like to see  this done in such a way that one could have their address generated elsewhere, peerhpas even paying for it as a service, without the third party gaining access to the private key. There was some discussion about it, and it's certainly possible, but it seems to require code changes which are beyond my level of C...
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: January 25, 2016, 05:02:02 PM
Most women aren't smart enough or tech savvy enough to be into bitcoin, but there are certainly a lot of them who are both and I'm sure many on this site.

16  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world on: January 25, 2016, 04:26:26 PM
IMHO, it could be used as a load balancing device for a system with a fixed block size limit. CoinJoins happen automatically to help compress more transactions into the available block space. This could provide a good argument against a scheme with a continuously variable block size, or to a scheme with no limit at all (although I don't think anyone has yet made any serious proposal for the latter). It also illustrates that CoinJoin really is just that, joining inputs and outputs into single transactions, regardless of the utility you're seeking from doing so.
17  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: January 25, 2016, 04:25:19 PM
Somewhere i read regarding number of people having guns in America and I found the amount of guns in america shocking, i think it needs to be reigned it because i have read about several high school massacres involving guns in america and we are yet to have one. its just my opinion but the rest of the world manage to 'protect their property' without such dangerous weapons.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: January 25, 2016, 04:24:34 PM
Value of a store of value  depends of various elements
- Aceptance
- Good and services which can de acquired
- expectations about future prices

The important point is that the "price of money" is depending on this demand for store of value (in that particular monetary asset).  That demand will vary according to the mood of people, and also according to the kind of monetary asset that is mostly "in" (that is, what people speculate that others will still want to accept, and at what price, later when they will want to get the value back).
As such, the value stored in a monetary asset is normally fluctuating.  One day there may be a high demand for money, and money will be worth a lot ; the next day, there may be a much lower demand for that kind of money, and it may become almost worthless.
In a fiat system, this is mainly stabilized, essentially by imposing monetary monopoly (merchants are obliged to accept that type of money against their goods and services), and by introducing feedback mechanisms with the central bank, buffering the money offer against the money demand.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal is growing faster than Bitcoin on: January 25, 2016, 04:23:22 PM
Paypal has a lot of restrictions with withdrawals and deposits atleast where I live. I also have to link credit card details to be even able to shop anywhere outside my country. I think the concept of growing faster here is just making it look more primitive considering the restrictions it has due to regulatory pressures. Bitcoin without regulation is out of those pressures and is easy to spend and receive with.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you earn a lot of free bitcoins fast? on: January 25, 2016, 04:22:36 PM
Faucets are good to get started, but don't use only faucets.
Try doing some jobs for bitcoin. The more skills you have the more bitcoin you will earn.
