well people were crying there it was scam, but some gullible people still went ahead and donated to the scammer, threads asking for donations or including a bitcoin or any Altcoin wallet requesting donations should be banned in the forum or at least require permission before doing so,donations should be allowed only to legitimate proven projects, every body here should complain to the forum moderator about this type of scams and ask them to require permission for donation request
"I don't trust your ability to decide what to spend money on so I want to decide for you" the post It's Wild Wild West here on bitcointalk. This forum should offer some kind of protection against scams like this.
Ah the old security is more important than freedom argument. Thought I'd see that one. Members should look out for each other and not let assholes like Dave profit.
This. Have some agency.

i like the concept. it appears that the dev has not shown any activity on the forum since august. besides that, there has been no activity on github since 2016. that suggests that no changes have been made to the code since 2016. obviously i hope otherwise because this would be a cool thing.
Don't get fooled by that. The official vtorrent account was hacked. At the moment you can communicate with him via email and twitter and hopefully we will be able to communicate via in wallet chat very soon. Does the win32 o.s. wallet for VTRcoin work for users? It does not find any nodes to connect on my pc. I really wish to remove my coins to wallet. You have to add the network peers manually List of network peers: http://[Suspicious link removed]/NetworkInfo/index.php?Currency=VTR Open up file explorer and go to %appdata% hit enter navigate to Roaming/vTorrent-HD Create new txt file in the folder paste in the list of network peers and save as vTorrent.conf and make sure to choose all files so that the file become a .conf file not a .txt file make sure the vTorrent wallet is shut down when you do this then start it up and syncing will start syncing will take a couple days, it sucks but you need to download the entire blockchain which is 700MB If I were you I would not sync just yet because I'm going to upload the blockchain file so that people can just manually paste it into the appdata directory and avoid the multiday sync

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Raiblocks but with node-pooling.

An issue Rai has is that each full node has to experience the full brunt of the network by itself. Right now this is not an issue since Rai's network is getting around 0.2tps which is easily handled by the average full node. But what happens when the network tps rises to 10tps, 100tps, 1000tps, 10000tps?? Ledger pruning can keep the total size of the ledger down to a storable size but if the ledger is changing 10000 times every second how do you expect the average full node to be able to download all those changes? Each transactions adds about 1KB to the ledger which means 10000tps will require full nodes to reserve 10MB/s downstream bandwidth just for their Rai node. Keep in mind that 10000tps can be achieved by a single attacker if they want to spend the money/resources.
Possible solution: Gimp the network to around 100tps to protect full nodes. Mechanism to achieve solution: Increased POW, Transaction Fees, Problem with solution: While a respectable throughput, it's not high enough to be widely adopted. Also, you'd make it impossible for phone/IOT devices to use Rai. Nanopayments will not be economically attractive to users. Powerful attacker can still spam network although at higher personal costs.
My solution: Unlock tps limits and protect individual full nodes from drowning. Mechanism to achieve solution: Allow full nodes to pool their resources together to create a single virtual full node. Similar to mining pools, node pools will distribute bandwidth/storage/processing load among each other to easily keep up with 10Ktps network throughput. Problems with solution: Pooling requires more upload bandwidth than lonewolfing since you have to share everything you download with your pool-members when they want it OnDemand.
Thoughts?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Stone - DAG Data-Structured Private Cryptocurrency

Yeah, it's not hard to make Rai private if you're willing to lose some of it benefits, mainly the transaction speed. You can't really fit zk-snarks-based private transfers in a single UDP packet, for one. Confirmation times would be worse too. Maybe you'll even have to establish some rewarded masternodes to mangle the transactions and connections.
What about recursive zmSNARKs? Only 100 bytes Yeah ZK snark costs something like 30-120sec of 100% CPU before sending. That will definitely hit the 7,000 txs/sec claim in this post hard.
RaiBlocks can't achieve 7Ktps anyway since it uses global consensus like every trustless decentralized coin does today. One transaction in rai is about 1KB that means if the ledger is growing by 7MB every second that means you have to be downloading those 7MB every second. That is beyond most bandwidth capabilities. I mean you could centralize the full nodes as big server farms. The only way Rai is ever getting to 7ktps is by dropping global consensus and resorting to fraud proofs or recursive zkSNARKs treechains to still protect against doublespending. Which is ironic since OP wants to add zkSNARKs for the privacy features not the potential for infinite scalability lol. This whole project is a scam anyway no one has done recurive zkSNARKs yet and no one has done treechains yet.

Hi I asked the raiblocks dev about privacy and he said maybe in the future if a perferct solution is found that doesn't interfere with the goal of raiblocks (instant free scalable and sustainable). Will your privacy mechanism interfere with any of those primary goals? Plus, mixers already exist that offer some privacy for a fee so what you're trying to do (instant free scalable sustainable and PRIVATE) is different. He said the same thing about quantum resistance (IOTA's solution is not human-friendly).
I see the potential in your project to end all other currencies but you'd need to build it to last 100 years that means quantum resistance.
My other issue with raiblocks is that there's no way to send messages other than ~8-byte stenography (1XRB = 2^100raw) so my question is if it would be possible for your coin to be 1stone = 2^1000raw to allow for communication as well? Or will that be too big for the UDP packets? Fitting in a transaction inside a single UDP packet is paramount of course.
Compliments: I love the name "STONE" it's a callback to raiblocks (rai means stone coin) yet better; well done. Logo is awesome as well (high def version for download for desktop background?) I also love that you're taking the marketing-at-the-end approach since it shows you have faith in your project to speak for itself.
I look forward to investing no matter what!
