@tryninja

But i thought if im sweep directly from chipmixer to the wallet the transaction is on the blockchhain and traceable on the contrary to the export key  method to ur wallet.

@tryninja:

but i think this is the more secure way to withdraw ur funds from chipmixer

1. export keys first
2. sweep after export.

so why is this not mentioned in the faq ?

@LoyceV

But when i export the private key from chipmixer first and then i sweep in a new wallet, the connection on the blockchain is broken or ?

1. chipmixer ---> export private key to a wallet = cut off from blockchain

2. Sweep the exported keys to a new wallet = happens on blockchain but no connection to 1.

so if i do so, i have the same privacy ( + get a new key for my funds)   as if i'm only export the keys metioned on 1. or ?
are my assumptions correct ?

@hcp:

ok i thought sth. i didnt get it

1. u made the mixining on chipmixer and

2. then sweep the private keys to a new wallet

so where is the connection between 1 and 2 related to the blockchain  ?

in the faq's it is mentioned it just like an normal mixing step if u do this in that way

@chipmixer

You deposit 256 mBTC - You receive 256 CHIP no. 111.
You click "split" - Chip no. 111 is exchanged for two 128 CHIPs: no. 52 and no. 95
You click "merge" - Chips no. 52 and no. 95 are exchanged for one 256 CHIP no. 69

Split-then-merge does not affect privacy.

But as you said.. youre getting another chips from the pool so if u do so so the mixing round is increasing or ?

what happend if i do this split and merge twice times the chips wich i had deposit did i get the same chips no. or another ones from the pool.

best regards

Merging and splitting doesn't happen on the blockchain, so it all happens in the backend so to speak.

yes i know, but if i split and merge my same chips again again and again in the webif did the mixinground increase 1+n ? or is it still only an 1 mixing round  cause i get on every split/merge action the same chips again ?

for example:

Fund 1.024 btc :

Choose the button split in 2x 0.512 BTC  and then merge back to 1.024 BTC  than split and merge again ... and so on

@jackg:

Ok i can deal with this solution

Another question for understanding:

If i send some Bitcoins to chipmixer and merge and split the same coin third times  in the webif ( frontend)  .

Do i get an mixinground from 3 or 1 ? Is this just the same split merge transaction in the backend ?

When you deposit 2.23 mBTC you receive 2 mBTC chips. One 2 mBTC or two 1 mBTC. Splitting and merging chips does not change amount you have.

So my assumption was right but the explaination was wrong  ? I lost 0.00023 btc's or ?

We do experiments and measure their usage. Installing Electrum plugin is harder than using ChipMixer with browser. Low amount of our users use plugin. Updating the plugin will not change it.
We are working on bundling ChipMixer plugin with a special version of Electrum - it may change it.

The Problem at the beginning if u use the browser version  is  to understand the chip and merge behaviour.
I think an simple tut or video instruction how to do this wil help new people to understand this more quickly.
Or an simulated mixing on the website.

to the other point, the plugin plans sounds quite good

anyway i have an other question:

when i withdraw bitcoins to to chipmixer for example:

i have send 0.00223 in my chipmixer session and split into 2 chips

and merge these 2 again

I'll lost 0.00023 is my assumption  right ?

or did i overlook sth.

btw. how about the electrum chipmixer plugin there is no update on github since Jun 10, 2017

I checked it: this session doesn't hold funds, and you should never use this session again. It's compromised, and anything you send there will most likely be taken by someone.
You should treat session tokens the same way you treat private keys: don't ever post them online!

i wouldnt ever post an session id which has funds

but thanks for the advice

So if i would like to withdraw funds from chipmixer it'll the best if:
1. Export the private key from chipmixer to wallet --> Disconnect the Transition from the Blockchain
There is no point to step 1.

If anything, all you are doing by "importing" your private key into a wallet, is increasing the chances that your funds might get stolen... due to exposing the private key (ie. having to type or copy/paste it into a potentially compromised computer) and leaving the funds sitting on that key for a period of time. Granted, given proper precautions are taken, the likelihood of that is relatively low, but still... it is an unnecessary step.

It doesn't really "disconnect the transition from the blockchain"... as there is no "transition". The funds remain on the same address (as controlled by the private key) as already recorded on the blockchain.

@HCP:

Sorry for the late comment on this post.

So, the the Trace wihich gives a fingerprint on the blockchain is produced by the private key ?

What about the instruction ( Step 3 on the first page)  to withdraw with an private kay not with an transaction ? is this useless ?

May someone has an article how the blockchain could be traced that i'm ablte to understand the mechanism behind it. .. sorry I'm not an crypto pro

That's why they recommend you to sweep the funds from the private-key to an address that only you have access.

So if i would like to withdraw funds from chipmixer it'll the best if:

1. Export the private key from chipmixer to wallet --> Disconnect the Transition from the Blockchain

2. Sweep the funds from the private key which had epxort in your wallet from step 1 in an other wallet --> Diesconnects the funds form chipmixer due to private key exchange.

So my assumption that this is the best way cause the first step disconnects your from the blockchain and the second one from chipmixer.

Even if the last step connects you with the blockchain again you are not linked with chipmixer anymore in this transition.

Plz. correct me if my conclusion is  wrong

Sorry some things  i dont get it completely

The idea of the private keys you get from chips is that you empty them as soon as possible

What did you mean with "empty" ?  Did you mean if i export the private key into my wallett the key is useless for an third party ( in this case chipmixer)?

Quote
you can combine voucher code with your next deposit to create a new voucher code
once you have a big enough whole chip, get a single private key and send to yourself with your own preferred fee

But you still know this  private key before i'm able to export these into my walett  or ?

best regards moejoejay
