1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Help With Command - sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin on: September 29, 2020, 04:03:23 PM
If you only need to install Bitcoin Core, it's far easier to use ppa:luke-jr/bitcoincore (https://launchpad.net/~luke-jr/+archive/ubuntu/bitcoincore) which have newest version of Bitcoin Core.

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:luke-jr/bitcoincore
sudo apt update
sudo apt install bitcoinqt bitcoind

Thanks for the reply @ETFbitcoin

It actually has enabled me to install, though it also has brought up E: Unable to locate package bitcoinqt. However, it is ok I think as gone through and also enabled me to go through the other statement had an issue with so far.

Thanks for the reply ETFbitcoin.

In 2009/2010 I was browsing forum, got mining software and didn't open an account as couldn't start mining. Thanks for being part of my personal development this time  Wink Grin

Hi Devs

I am going through this tutorial https://pastebin.com/Mu5z4kVc and get an issue with this command:
sudo apt-get install libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++-dev

I have read that it could fail without installing bitcoin which I have created another thread asking about this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5278849.0, but both lib... packages give me the error that package is not available but is referenced by another package. And that it may be missing or obsolete.

What is the right command to use. I'm using Ubuntu btw.

Hello Devs

I am trying to do this statement on ubuntu while creating a coin and get an issue with this command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin

When I run this, I get an issue where it says not maintained and get from bitcoin.org

When I run though download from there, I can't complete next set of instructions from this pastebin:
https://pastebin.com/Mu5z4kVc

I read that further statements in that pastebin will error if this is not done right.

Let me know the statements to add in Linux please.

So disappointing to see a flaky wallet. Add to that seeing that you guys just decided to change the framework of your coin. You should have just created a new coin.

You devs just killed your coin and everyone invested in this coin. Thunderstake was perfectly fine with 900% POS. Thunderstake wallet was flaky with mining. Devs should have selected a good base coin from the start.

How am I to access my coins now with this changeover? What do I have to do?

Hi gradovgv

At TAM, we provide content production and marketing services, including PR and outreach for Digital Marketing agencies and to individual websites. Our experience with the LBTC project also enables us to have a good understanding of the crypto world.

Our work appears throughout the world and we have enabled radio interviews, and press coverage to small and large organizations.

In the TAM Labs we have recently developed Open Box TM. http://www.OpenBox.TryAMillion.com, which is an open ended marketing solution designed for blockchain projects and organizations to not only rely on blockchain companies and devs to invest into marketing expenditure through a professional organization, but also to allow investors, and holders of coins as well as anyone else interested in getting more interest to a project to happen.

We also have the traditional closed box method where we work together and transparency of projects happens just between the company and you.

With what you need, we can cater to your budget and have professionals for each area, bringing it together into one solution.

I will send you an email.

Create a great day,

Kozan
6  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-09-03] Bitcoin Mempool is Empty and High Transaction Fees are no Longer Re on: September 04, 2017, 03:47:34 AM
Transaction fees on bitcoin are silly. I ended up paying £7 for something that cost £3.50  Shocked  Huh

Why is this happening, is it because of the network being full and the network increases network fee or is it due to miners not accepting lower fees?

I don't mind because I think that bitcoin is good for big purchases and litecoin will be the normal currency to shop with, but still the fees on bitcoin kind of take out what bitcoin was perceived to actually trying to solve and that is friction free transfer without high fees. The problem is compounded though because technologically illiterate organizations think let us be forward thinking and accept bitcoin, but don't realize that they may be better to consider litecoin, dogecoin and a lot of other crypto's because it is not just bitcoin out there.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin - Scam or not ? on: September 04, 2017, 03:33:22 AM
I wrote about ACRN after seeing that it had a huge volume. The coin seemed new and looked interesting. I was onto a scoop, a coin getting lots of attention. Then I downloaded the wallet and realized it would not pass a specific block. Not much information on the coin and have to dig deep to even find the wallet.

Some lessons learned.

What you need to do...

Due dilligence.

  • 1. Find the wallet. Virus test it. Is it safe?
    2. Synch blockchain, does it sync fully (note ACRN probably would have been a great coin, but not fully sync of wallet says that it is pure shit)
    3. Is it on coinmarketcap (there are some that are new and so high risk/high reward, but coinmarketcap usually a good start. Lot's of shit coins will not bother with adding to coinmarketcap
    4. Is the code on github?
    5. Don't go by volume or sudden interest (yes, I did learn this from ACRN, I thought volume signified importance. In the case of ACRN, I think it was 50% premined, so owner offloading his coin for a quick buck)

All depends on your risk level really. If you are looking for some coin that is going to be big because of actual applicable uses, such as Ethereum, then you have to really dig deep and find out about the team, the roadmap and what is happening. In this case, getting into a coin slightly later can be more beneficial. Lot's of people say I wish I got into bitcoin earlier and many people did see bitcoin years ago, but it took time to notice, because it needed more time to develop. Same with all coins. Early may be great but later can still make great results without all the worry of if it is too early for a coin.

There are 2 sides to this research because some Dumb Coins as I call them can be big, think bitcoin, litecoin, dogecoin. Dumb because they don't have actual features. Whereas Smart Coins, such as Ethereum have a real world application outside of just being a way to account coins to users. Dumb Coins are important, and so are Smart Coins, and they both can make you rich, but if going into these coins from an investment perspective, the last paragraph about digging deeper can be very important to find the new winning coin for a particular usage as Ethereum is showing us.

There is an attack by the United States against bitcoin. BTC-e was taken down. The US is taking everyone's coins to destabilize bitcoin confidence. Using the premise that I don't want my citizens using bitcoin, so I am going to take your bitcoins and sell them to private US investors.

Don't be fooled. As previous poster has said, all exchanges work on a balance. Even if everyone pulls out coins does not matter, as long as exchange is working.

World, leaders everyone Bitcoin needs your defending it. Stop this crime against humanity.

11  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction - Electrum on: February 07, 2017, 07:30:15 PM
The fee included with your transaction was insufficient. If you divide the transaction fee by the size of the transaction in bytes, you will find that it has a fee rate of only ~3 satoshis/byte. According to 21.co a fee rate of 110 satoshis/byte is currently necessary for a transaction to be included in the next block.

The good news is that your money cannot be lost. If the transaction is not confirmed the money will eventually revert to the sender (you).

Note that blockchain.info is notoriously bad at estimating the required fee, which is why it says your transaction has a medium priority, although in reality it has only a slim chance of being confirmed.

Nice site @MartinL useful.

I am also looking for a book titled the power of cosmic energizeri just cant remember the name of the author and i dont want to guess.
Can you be of help?

Hi ricku

Good author, Joseph Murphy. You should be able to find many similar related titles going forward on Savvy Solomon. In regard to that title I have seen copywrited 1974 and unlikely will be on Savvy Solomon any time soon.

There are millions of books out there, and if it is in print, in a book store, we likely will not have it on Savvy Solomon. Think of Amazon when it first dealt with books. It wasn't until many years later did more various items arrive. Savvy Solomon has 100 titles that most people have not heard of or seen yet. Once we see success with those, and in general with Savvy Solomon, will we look at what the next steps are in expanding titles from various publishers.

I am grateful for everyone asking about titles, it does one thing and help us focus on the topics you want to read about. The Power of Cosmic Energizer is a great example as it shows a more practical knowledge and is a book that most people don't know about. Though many stores stock that title, it shows what you might expect to find on Savvy Solomon, those rare titles full of knowledge which many books can't live up to.

For everyone, please reply with titles you interested in and topics and will try to bring out any related titles we have sooner. Also be sure to keep a check on the www.SavvySolomon.online site as well as the thread here on bitcoin talk https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1644577.0 with latest releases.

Interesting little read. Going through this makes me think that Richard Branson read something like this when thinking about business early on. It contains a principle which every successful business person or investor uses to be lazy, and make wealth and fame happen. Overnight? Maybe not, but it certainly is a principle that the top 1% uses.

I am currently searching for this book "The Far Pavilions by M. M. Kaye." is that possible to get that from you? On better worldbooks its price is $9 . That is the price for a hard copy. please tell me the price for a digital book.

Hi 0day. At this time, we do not have a license to distribute that title, so it won't be available on Savvy Solomon. If the publisher wants us to distribute it then we can. For now, look at the titles available.

As a note, The Far Pavilions by M. M. Kaye at worldbooks is $9 but at Savvy Solomon a similar book would only be priced at likely $0.30. Be sure to check through our titles as they become available. All books are written in house, licensed from publishers or through licensing and buyout of authors works, so we won't have any books available in bookstores at this time.

Savvy Solomon Digital Bookstore

Books from only 1 DOGE per word!
Instant Digital Download after payment
Learn something new today!
Exclusive Books

We are pleased to announce the Savvy Solomon Digital Bookstore opening at www.SavvySolomon.online. Learn something new today! Books are priced at a target of 1 Dogecoin per word! Books, video's, audio, and more coming, all with a target of only 1 Dogecoin per word equivelent! If you have been to a bookstore and paid $$$ for a handful of good books, now you can go to Savvy Solomon and get a handful of good books and walk out with good knowledge that you can use for few dollars.

The Why:
Books have largely been expensive. First with oral communication, then on papyrus and stone and clay. Then came the quill pen and writing books used to take months and cost months of someones salary to pay for a copy. Even with the printing press, getting access to books have been expensive. Even Amazon in all it can do, can not reduce costs due to moving paper to printing factories and then the delivery of books. The computer has helped a lot, but it has also limited good knowledge at an expensive price. PayPal once a popular payment processor and its expensive fees have left books at an expensive place, even when they are digital in nature. Bitcoin has enabled friction free capitalism to be seen in the world, however, Bitcoin is about purchasing your house, your car or any big purchases and litecoin helps with normal daily purchases. If we want to go to providing the world with good knowledge that every person can buy wherever they are in the world and whatever financial position, we have turned to Dogecoin. The interesting thing with Dogecoin is that we can provide digital books at sums which is not feasible with other methods. Our books are targeted to be equivelent of only 1 DOGE per word.

What Can I Buy?
You can purchase Savvy Solomon book titles and titles we have licenced through publishing houses, produced in house and from some of the best author tallent around the world. You can also soon download audio, video and other digital downloadable products with a focus on practical knowledge that can help you do things.

Some topics you will find as more titles are added:
  • Business
    Entrepreneur
    Investing
    Personal Development
    Fitness
    Travel
    Hypnosis
    Home & Garden
    Internet
    Computing
    Work
    and more!!!

How soon can I get my purchase?

On digital downloadable books you get instant download after your payment shows confirmed by our payment processor Coin Payments which happens within 1-2 minutes. You also get an email with download links to your purchase.

How can I pay?
We accept Dogecoin only due to its ability to charge as little as a few cents for some great digital books you can download. Please make sure to pay Dogecoin network fees for fast confirmation of your transaction.

Installed QT and I like the interface. Nice work. Statistics a nice addition. Block Explorer, think it would do better for simple terms - putting in an address to find out balance, confirmations, etc. Social tab and interesting feature. Checking through settings Franko coin has 0 transaction fee set there. Might want to change that on each version to be an acceptable amount.

Overall I like the updates on this coin and look forward to see more development as the aim for Franko Coin

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IBM to Launch First Commercial Blockchain in September on: August 03, 2016, 09:58:01 AM
Bitcoin should find solutions to problems like this and offer use case solutions based on Bitcoin. We missed a good opportunity with IBM and they moved on to develop their own Blockchain based

solution to their problem. Bitcoin marketers and entrepreneurs should concentrate their efforts on micro payment problems and the associated solutions. If Bitcoin got a piece of that 40 Billion dollar

solution, we would have all benefited a lot.  Roll Eyes

No one is going to use the crime tool of Ross Ulbrich and Mark Karpeles when they can just copy the technology and develop their own closed untainted system. Companies don't need a system comprised of every smuck in the world running a home computer. Large companies already have networked computers all over the globe they can use to run a private blockchain and with Blocknet they can access any of the other company blockchains anytime they need to.

                 IBM Private internal Blockchain

That's like saying the internet came out and IBM decided to run its own intranet. Keep in mind that IBM when it brought out the PC - used available hardware from Asia rather than developing their own - apart from the PS2 port which from what I understand was the only major innovation by IBM for the PC - apart from putting it all together. It could be using one of the blockchains as a basis for that. The internet was adopted by all and the theory with bitcoin is that likewise people will adopt it as the money equivalent of the internet.

Practically, it makes sense for them to do it. Imagine if exchanges that allowed trading bitcoin and or other crypto's was to actually use the blockchain for each trade. It would not be feasible. Every exchange uses another system which it then allows bitcoin and other crypto's to be the basis. What I can see from the OP's post is that IBM is producing something that has a specific use case such as for banks which would need a closed system - even if it was working on the dollar, even if it was working with bitcoin. It could be a problem for bitcoin, but more than likely you will find that it has a specific use case that may be needed for specific uses.

This does not mean that bitcoin is not feasible. In fact bitcoin may be more than feasible in more areas than one. I think for any organization or entity looking at what is the best technology to use for specific use cases will need to evaluate the benefits that each provides.

As a note. Bitcoin has many features and uses but it does not have certain features. Other crypto's that are not just a rehashed bitcoin but have certain features that make them valid are again not necessarily bad for bitcoin. They provide a different use case such as what we seeing Ethereum doing with smart contracts or Florin Coin with blockchain messages or DOGE coin for micro payments, bitcoin for big purchases and litecoin for every day spending.
20  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / DHC Solution To Increasing Bitcoin Blockchain Size on: August 01, 2016, 02:08:47 PM
Hello everyone

So far bitcoin has been growing in blockchain size and I know there are some talks about how to deal with this. The practical problem with the blockchain size increasing that I can see is that there will come a point where less and less service providers (mining pools, electrum nodes, etc) will be able to easily run services which protect the blockchain network by storing the entire blockchain.

The theory has been that hard drive space increases over time, and so bitcoins blockchain and other blockchains in alt coins should be able to continue to grow because of that increase in capacity from storage devices.

I have a solution and wanted to put it out there so that developers working on bitcoin and other altcoins may consider and develop it further. This is not exhaustive, I have not written a paper this time, instead just putting it here to see peoples view and may expand upon it.

The Double Helix

We know that in bitcoin there are people making transactions and miners mining to verify those transactions. This causes an ever increasing block chain size.

The Double Helix is another coin that joins onto bitcoin and what it does is calculate n blocks from bitcoin utilizing the same principle of miners mining to confirm those number of blocks for example 144 for about a days worth of blocks in this example.

The confirmation of those sets of blocks would still allow a mathematically accurate solution that those blocks were accurate. On top, we have the existing confirmations for those blocks which today we can say x days earlier the miners on the bitcoin network did a pretty accurate job of confirming those blocks and transactions.

The bitcoin network would then look at Double Helix Coin to confirm n blocks were accurate and so bitcoin would not have to store those blocks in its blockchain. In essence x amount of blocks would reduce to 1 block checked on the Double Helix Coin block. This could reduce bitcoins blockchain size by the amount of blocks included. 100 blocks to 1 on Double Helix Coin would reduce bitcoins blockchain size by 100 times while making Double Helix Coin having a practical and minimal blockchain size of 100 times smaller than what bitcoins blocks have taken up.

Bitcoin also benefits in having a more manageable blockchain size thus allowing the continued security of the network with more people being able to provide services that require storing the blockchain.

This would allow 2 benefits:
A. Reduction in blockchain size as in a way we are zipping multiple past blocks into a smaller bitesize size that is taken care of by Double Helix Coin.

B. A solution to ever growing difficulty in bitcoin. Having a Double Helix Coin that performs this function could feasibly move 25% or more of the asics focused on bitcoin to focus on Double Helix Coin making a buffer and improving results for miners.

Some considerations.

The DHC (Double Helix Coin) would need to reduce blockchain size of bitcoins blockchain at a rapid rate but not such a rapid rate where it will overtake and be stuck waiting for data (unless that was a possibility but I don't think it would help as having no blocks to mine could make miners move away and endanger the ongoing process of protecting the blockchains).

The halving every n period could also be a way to work with n blocks so that it could reduce the amount of blocks it goes through. But this may also not be needed but also could be a way to help reduce blocks from previous years before halving. Perhaps a variable rate of halving every n period may be a better option that benefits with the work being to reduce the blockchain size on bitcoin while also not overtaking to the point that it detracts from the bitcoin miners work of properly verifying the blocks as far back as we can say that we are 100% that those blocks have been verified to the best of certainties.
