the more merchants we have, the more selling we have. The more hacks, the more selling.
it's just selling, selling, selling until all our nuts go blue.
The only thing keeping this afloat are the hoarders, of which I am proudly one of them.

someone people are needing to pay tax bills in the US. By selling off a losing commodity like bitcoin, they can pay the tax and get a write off for their losses for next year. At least that's what I'm thinking, because that's the boat I'm in

Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020?

With all good news from big companies investing in Blockchain technology I think it will be possible. Look at these examples from IBM and Samsung: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1XOPIqyP7AWhen a washing machine needs detergent, the washing machine can buy it automatically for you, and pay it with Bitcoins. Washing machines, refrigerators who can restock automatically, all of it could be possible in the (near) future. Then ordinary people need Bitcoins to pay for it... Why wouldn't washing machines order it with your credit card #? I'm already using CCs for auto ship payments from various companies. They don't take BTC for auto payments yet and I'm not sure they will need (or want) to....

it will be good for alts for a bit - and already DRK has been spiking heavily the last few days. Eventually it will all be turned into FIAT though, so it's an unstable time to buy.
I don't see any benefits for BTC at all here, except that the major news doesn't think these thefts are worth covering anymore - so that's a plus...I guess
That is my point, too. Bitcoin can be replaced, by some other "improved coin", the same way Internet Explorer or Netscape were replaced. Back at the time, when these browsers were dominant, people were also thinking of them as something for their lifetime. And look where we are now.
You might be right but you are being selective. Amazon hasn't been replaced, eBay, priceline, and many other dot coms from the early internet haven't either. We can't assume all first ideas are failures..

it's been a few days since Morgan Spurlock did his special on CNN. It was a very positive program for BTC and I think it was shown worldwide (on TV - not just the internet). It takes a few days to open and fund accounts but I'm sure it convinced a few thousand to join the troops.
MEGA is also very positive news IMHO as they will lead the charge for many similar sites....

Sending money around the world in large amounts with little to no fees (and that's only the beginning) is quite different than cyborg glasses which the vast majority find intrusive and cumbersome.

by 2017 there will be another financial mess and BTC will be far easier to buy and hold securely. I say by the end of 2016....
