I recently encountered a disheartening situation while using the cryptocurrency exchange platform CEX.IO. Having been a user for approximately six months, I initially had a positive experience. However, when I attempted to withdraw my funds, things took an unexpected turn.


Here’s a summary of my experience:

Account Verification: I verified my account, following all the necessary steps. My account was fully verified, and I met all the requirements.

Withdrawal Request: When I requested a withdrawal, I encountered roadblocks. Despite having a verified account, CEX.IO asked for additional steps:
 -Video Verification: I was asked to provide video verification using my ID card.
 -Selfie Verification: They required a selfie verification.
 -2FA Activation: I activated two-factor authentication (2FA) as requested.

Withdrawal Denied: Despite completing all the requested verifications, my withdrawal was not allowed. The funds remained stuck, and I received no communication from CEX.IO regarding the issue.

I reached out to their customer support multiple times, but the responses were vague and unhelpful. Waiting for over a week without any resolution is unacceptable, especially when dealing with an established exchange.

As a trader, I rely on exchanges to handle transactions efficiently. Unfortunately, this experience has eroded my trust in CEX.IO. I urge them to improve their withdrawal processes and provide better communication to users facing similar issues.

Good to see that Cex.io Bitcointalk account is active and trying to resolve the customers issues. I hope that OP issue will be now resolved very soon. I also request OP to update community about what happen in this case.

May I ask one question, why CEX.io has not direct verification system yet? some days ago I  faced same issue where OKX exchange ask me re-verification but it was all happened in OKX exchange (not through email) and verification completed in 30 seconds. Cex.io should also work on it to make their system smooth for users.

There are different types of verifications on our platform. Since each case is individual, it might take a different time to get verified. This exact case requires more attention from the side of the Compliance team for the reason I described above. That's all the info I can share from my side.

Otherwise, I am an early user of yours, personally, I have never had a problem with your platform (and at the moment I have some funds on my CEX.io account), but the practice of not responding to users for several weeks puts a big question mark next to your name.
I will emphasize again, many platforms do not even allow a deposit without KYC and thus avoid complications during the withdrawal process. you should seriously consider that policy.

As I know https://cex.io is UK based exchange. At least that's what it said to me on the bank statement when I made a withdrawal from there.

Damn, I completely forgot about them and am a bit surprised they're still around.
They use to be big when they were selling mining contracts and their pool (ghash.io) at one point even crossed 50% of the global hashing power. But they seemed to be slowly dying after mining contracts become unprofitable.

It's hard to figure out what would "based in UK" even mean nowadays, they seem to be run by multiple entities and the only regulated one would be a Gibraltar-registered company.

I have been a CEX.IO user for more than 7 years, I noticed that in the last 2 months when they changed everything on their website that has to do with the designer that honestly in my opinion the previous designer was a much better designer, the person found everything very quickly and everything was simple, but after they changed their website design I had some small problems, even now I can see that, things like when I click to make deposit and for a few seconds the website says that I haven't logged in but it's just wait a few seconds without moving anything and the site updates itself and indicates that I'm still inside the site, I believe they are still correcting some bugs

about your case in particular, I think you should be more patient, maybe due to their designer change you have been affected and they have so many things to correct and they may be taking some time to correct your problem, now if you say that already filed a complaint with the Alabama Securities Commission so it no longer makes sense for you to contact their support to resolve your problem, now the matter is in the hands of the Alabama Securities Commission and it will be up to the Alabama Securities Commission to contact cex.IO and obviously that it will take much longer to solve your problem

I would also like to see a clear explanation from CEX.io because somehow I keep seeing complaints about them and user problems with withdrawing from there. Here as well as on Reddit. they are almost always complaining about the same thing.
if you already have so many complications with KYC verification, why is it even possible to make a deposit before KYC passes? this problem has been going on for a long time with you, so I'm surprised that you haven't done anything to improve the whole system.

More than 2 months ago, CEX.io froze all my funds.
They asked me for ID verification, which was completed successfully.
Then they asked for showing the origin of the funds.
I have sent all I could.
At the end they said my case is under review by their complience team. And they will let me know if there is an update.
Ever since they said that, 2 months has passed and their complience team still has not made any decisions.
What kind of decisions can take that long?

Can someone suggest what should I do in this case? Thanks 😊

Going to make this short and simple, hopefully someone will point me in the right direction.

I made an account on CEX.io in hopes to transfer some of the Bitcoin instantly. Upon registering and paying for ~$3000 BTC, I was prompted to take a selfie with the debit card used for the purchase. I did, and it went through.

Now when I tried to send the BTC to another address, I was prompted YET again to verify my identity. This time through means of Drivers License, International Passport, or National ID Card. I attempted to verify my identity at least 30 times with both my Drivers License and Passport and found I was unable to do so. Every time when I was about 67% done with the verification process, it failed stating there was an error with the documents I provided.

I've since contacted support with no response.

I've even tried to transfer my money into FIAT losing some transaction fees, with no ability to withdraw the money until I "verify" my account.

The images of my documents are not blurry, are indeed high quality, and yet I still get denied every time. I'm hoping someone will point me to the right direction where I can have this situation fixed.

I have passed stage 1 and 2 of the verification. Here is what is explained on your site:

So, according to your rules, I am already able to make deposits and withdrawals, I don't need any further checks. Stage 3 is pending but it is not necessary to be able to send Bitcoins. Did I get it wrong?

Good morning everyone. I am writing to inform you that nothing has changed. I am always waiting for communications from them and at the same time retrying withdrawals, but they continue to be refused. As is evident, no member of CEX.IO has replied to me here on the forum, neither publicly nor via PM. At this point I wait a few more days after which, if the problem is not solved, I will open a new thread in "Scam accusations". I specify that I have passed the stage 1 and 2 checks, so I can safely deposit and withdraw, even cryptocurrencies. I see no reason for withdrawals to be declined other than to keep the money in the account.
