I don't think crypto is going anywhere and is here to stay for the long run. You only have to look at how crypto has been able to help out in countries such as Venezuela for example and as long as people believe in it, it will always exist in one form or another.

There are lot of coins and a lot of more coming you can try on reviewing and researching to know what coin is good for you. Cause for now i don't know which coins are good.

Hardware wallet definitely the safest but using metamask could reduce the risk of being hacked. Hardware wallet will has it own risk, better to keep them safe and prevent to be stolen.

I don´t see why you should not stay liquid, that is cashing out temporarely until we see what is going to be the support for bitcoin and ether and then decide.
