41  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best price for biggest Hash rate on: June 06, 2011, 04:44:58 PM
I'm running a Q6600, HD5870, HD6870 and it uses 492W. So a 5870 should be no problem.
Also the newegg power calc is a bad joke.
It says I need 936W with my current system.
42  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: POLL: How much stales do you get? on: June 06, 2011, 07:53:32 AM
4,7% at slush
5870+6870
I might try BTCguild soon.
I'm from germany so..that might be the cause.
Are there any good pools in Yurop? I heard BTCguild gets a server here by the end of the week.
43  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: See you tomorrow with new Difficulty level on: June 06, 2011, 05:48:42 AM
Will the difficulty level get harder for sure by tomorrow? If so, how can you calculate when will the difficulty will change and how much will the new difficulty will be?

I'm still new to this so please bear with me.
Yes. In about 9-10 hours and it will change to 570000-580000 (blockexplorer estimate constantly increases atm).
So about 30% increase

Wow...and the next  5min block came after this.
45  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Eure Hardware on: June 03, 2011, 03:10:46 AM
5870 -> ~430 Mhash/s
6870 -> ~320 Mhash/s
Gesamt: 750 Mhash/s

Der Rest ist ja relativ uninteressant, aber egal: Intel C2Q Q6600, 4GB DDR2-800 RAM, Win 7 x64, Corsair TX750W
46  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: MSI Afterburner doesnt show any voltage on: May 31, 2011, 12:35:07 AM
Okay, thanks for the help. Seems like the only way to increase voltage on this one is a hard mod, but I'm not gonna do that.
I tried to push it a little bit and the card is now running stable on 990/300 (I'm not kidding) for some hours.
Getting 435Mhash/s out of it.
47  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: MSI Afterburner doesnt show any voltage on: May 30, 2011, 07:09:17 PM
At 1050 with Stock Voltage and 60°C?! I have 78°C and 940 Core, but mine is above the 6870 so it might be hotter because of that. Do you use watercooling?
Edit: Oh i just read its a 5770, nevermind.
48  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: MSI Afterburner doesnt show any voltage on: May 30, 2011, 06:26:27 PM
So it might work if I flash the card with another BIOS? The MSI and ASUS one seems to be unlocked.
49  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: MSI Afterburner doesnt show any voltage on: May 30, 2011, 06:13:42 PM
Go to settings and check "unlock voltage"
It's unlocked, that's why I can control the voltage of my 6870.
And I dont think it depends on the brand. They're both from XFX and the 6870 works fine. A GTX460 by Gigabyte also worked fine.

I have my fingers in fans all day erry day, nothing happened until now though, but it's always a shock.
51  Bitcoin / Mining / MSI Afterburner doesnt show any voltage on: May 30, 2011, 05:47:04 PM
Hi.
I'm using a HD6870 and a HD5870, both of them are overclocked.
When I open MSI Afterburner I can change everything of my 6870, but when I switch to GPU2 I'm only allowed to change the Mem-clock, Core-Clock and Fan speed. I can't even see how much voltage it has and I have no idea why.
It's running at 930/300 stable though so I guess its not that bad.
52  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (500Ghash/s) on: May 29, 2011, 05:28:29 PM
My confirmed reward just dropped by .06 BTC. I mean .. its confirmed right? How can it still drop?
I'm not complaining about .06 BTC, but what if it happened with way more.
Edit: Its fixed now. Still strange though because it was confirmed.
53  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Huge ~40% Drop in Network Hashing Power (5/27/2011) on: May 29, 2011, 01:28:33 AM
Lets hope the BTC value doesn't crash too much. slush's pools Hashrate dropped from 580Ghash/s to 520 (still 95Mhash per worker..wow) and MtGox vrom 8.8 to 8.1$ because everyone of those 50Mhash/s guys seems to sell their stuff.
54  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best way to mine with a GTX 460 on: May 29, 2011, 12:00:26 AM
Well if you have 2 cards just use card #2 for mining and card #1 for gaming. Turn off crossfire of course
55  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Did I wreck my 5850? on: May 28, 2011, 11:43:35 PM
I have an Sapphire 5850 Extreme, and im afraid about overclocking, so im running default. (725)

What the BEST option to OC my card, WITHOUT any problem (of course, i dont wanna touch voltages)

Temperature? Mhz ??

Thanks
i can get 1000 core with stock voltage.

Im glad for you (really), but im not asking for that, probably get 1000 is not very safe, i just want OC but, in a very safe range
changing the clock cannot direct damage your GPU (unlike overvolting), although the extra heat may damage it. just start up a miner, and increase the core clock until it crashes, take your last clock, decrease by 10 mhz, and that  should give you a stable clock. If you're concerned about heat, just put fan to max, and overclock until the heat is higher than 80 C

OC without voltage, CANNOT damage my card?? ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE??
No it can't. But it will most certainly crash if you OC too much without increasing CoreV. That's not a problem though as it will restore the original clocks automatically.
56  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Did I wreck my 5850? on: May 28, 2011, 09:38:53 PM
Shut your PC down and only plug gpu1 in.
57  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Did I wreck my 5850? on: May 28, 2011, 09:32:33 PM
Those are pretty high temps, mines are at ~70°C, but usually yes they should run up to 105°C.
Maybe they just crashed and are stuck at 2D settings now. Have you checked the clocks?
58  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Which system to minning ? on: May 28, 2011, 09:30:02 PM
Read the wiki/the guide.
This is probably Thread #65412
59  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining on a Pcie x4 2.0 Slot on: May 28, 2011, 05:26:31 PM
People even use x1 slots  http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=42. (it isn't bitcoin mining, but similar use of GPU)

All you need is any PCI-e slot + suitable risers for the cards where necessary. My board was second hand on ebay with 4 PCI-e slots for £55 ($95), including CPU, memory and hard disk.
Okay, thats good to hear, thanks. So I'll probably take the first one then, but I guess there no cheaper board then than the first one I listed for a 1155 Socket, because I'll buy a 2500k too. Need a new system anyway, so I'll get a mining rig/gaming combination and use the old one just for mining (3xPcie x16).
60  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining on a Pcie x4 2.0 Slot on: May 28, 2011, 05:13:31 PM
Does anyone have experience in this?
I need to buy a new mainboard with either 4 Pcie or 3 Pcie 2.0 Slots.
The one with 3 Slots costs about 110€ and has 1x16, 1x8 and 1x4. I don't think the x8 Slot would be a problem, but what about the x4 Slot? Does mining need a big bandwith and does anyone have experience with an x4 Slot?
If it has a bad influence on the hashrate I'd buy a mainboard with 2x16 and 2x8 Slots, as a board with 1x16 + 2x8 Slots costs 185€ and a quad Crossfire board 'only' 200€.
These are the boards I'm talking about:
  • x16+x8+x4: ASRock P67 Extreme4, P67 (B3) (120€)
  • x16+2x8: Sapphire PURE Black P67 (185€)
  • 2x16+2x8: ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution Rev 3.0 (200€)
I'd use 3/4x5870 on them. If you know any better boards please let me know.
