1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / A Gaming Standard Protocol for Web3 and Polkadot on: November 23, 2020, 12:44:56 AM
Having a standard protocol for Web3 gaming is important because it allows developers to easily code complicated games that rely on distributed cryptography for things like shuffling cards, rolling dice, and many other types of game actions (simultaneous blind moves, random number generation, etc.). These fundamentals are needed by almost every class of game.

There are multiple teams working on this but recently the Web3 Foundation recently made headways into this by doing a grant to one such project.

http://org.saito.tech/saito-joins-web3-foundation-open-grants-program/

Is this the beginning of fully decentralized gaming, gambling, and casinos? They seem to also be looking into adding these features into the Polkadot ecosystem via cross-chains and NFTs.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ethereum overpower Bitcoin in the future? Which side are you on? on: September 03, 2020, 12:22:04 AM
Technologically, it did it a long time ago (just like there are other coins superior in tech to ETH already) but in price and market adoption? Who knows, it could happen but it will probably take a long time, especially since there's not the same amount of institutional investment in ETH yet. Impossible? No, but very hard road ahead. Diversify and win :-D!

Saito is a blockchain that can pay for itself at scale. The Saito Arcade, a proof-of-concept for the network, it's a gaming site where you can experience what Saito can do. It allows people to play popular boardgames with no need for Metamask, using complex, open-source apps running completely on-chain that can be developed by anyone.

Come play some Wordblocks or have a nice game of Poker and give it a try!

Check out the platform here at https://saito.io/

You might want to add more hints to the game. Recently tried to play, joined the game "13 days" and waited a long time for the opponent to do something, then left. I still don't understand why the game didn't start and who is to blame (most likely the opponent)  Grin

It always good to hit the chat just in case the other person is not around before you take a game to prevent that! Invites automatically disappear after a certain amount of inactivity but your opponent could have been alt-tabbed :-D

Hi! I registered on the site, but im not using a computer, maybe you can improve your mobile site? Also do you have your own blockchain? The site did not ask for my password or change it, how can we able to log in? Will we use the private key provided by the site?

I got 50 saito from adding an email but i dont know where the other 50 saito came from.  Smiley

Yes, we are running on a blockchain, yes you don't need a password, a wallet is automatically generated for you when you go in. If you add your email, the backup will be sent there - if you don't, don't worry you can back-up your private key from the settings menu.
Thank you for a quick response! My question again is do you have a whitepaper or roadmap of your developments? This is interesting and I noticed the chatbox is very active. Do you have plans on running an ICO?

Thank you!

You can find our whitepaper on saito.tech and all sorts of info in our blog. There are no plans for ICOs - We are not that kind of project.

I have played chess, it is normal, but what do you want to achieve? do you want to implement a new platform? or do you want to make many enter so that it creates traffic? There are many who want to have potential customers, but you must work so that those of us who test the games have an incentive, maybe a small reward, something like that and you will have many high value opinions.

You will most likely get to keep all the saito you earn on the testing phases for the official launch of the platform.

First clarify that are you the owner of the site?
And is this the Official ANN thread?
I am also confused that is the site launched or it is yet in beta stage (only available for testing).
Moreover i like games based on blockchain.
Nevertheless before checking the site you could have stated here more information to the site, so that it could have attracted me to visit your site once.
Nevertheless if the site isn't is launched yet then hoping to see the site soon with full transparency and some awesome promotions.
Good luck team.

I'm not the owner, I'm a team-member. This is not an announcement thread, we are still on testing phases and we are not in a rush to announce/release something unfinished.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will another altcoin rise to overtaken Bitcoin? on: June 02, 2020, 08:03:35 AM
Depends on if you consider stable coins as alt coins, that's the only way I see right now in the space that another coin can take over bitcoin, a massive dump of fiat into the crypto fiat to be able to trade bitcoin and alt-coins freely.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hits $10k, Coinbase goes down (again) on: June 02, 2020, 08:00:02 AM
People should just boycott and stop using Coinbase. It's not even that good anyway, you should keep most of your crypto on your own wallets and then there are other exchanges you can use like Binance or Bittrex.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Jst token and Justin sun on: May 31, 2020, 02:41:03 PM
As other users have said, there's no proof Justin Sun is involved, in fact, If I was interested in something and realized JS was involved, I would do a 180 and walk away. Haven't you seen how he is wrecking his own projects? The guy is a criminal in his own country... come on...

If there is no proof and they are claiming that Justin Sun is involved in the project then we should be careful about this project.  We should dig deeper and do research about the project.  Aside from that I browse the site and look at their wp but can't find the person behind this project.  Isn't it another red flag for us?  They are offering free tokens to those who will stake Tron probably in their site since interested party need to pledge their TRX to gain JST.

You should quiver and run at the mere mention of his involvement on any project, he's a scam artist and a wanted man.

This is when someone does not know about Justin Sun, he instead likes what other people dislike, even though if we type the name JS on google it's very clearly written that he is the founder of the TRON cryptocurrency platform and the current CEO of BitTorrent.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Sun

I know very well who Justin Sun is, you can also find when you google him thing like these:

and many others.

I also checked the team page and I don't see Justin Sun or anyone working in the TRON project their team page shows this
Quote
Team
The JUST foundation has a dynamic and elite team. In the technical team, 50% of the employees come from alibaba, tencent, IBM and other world-class Internet companies, with rich experience in product design and development.

This is their claim but how do we know their credentials, if there are no names in their team page, I cannot trust this kind of project.

You're looking for credentials and certifications from the guy that copy/pasted a whitepaper, centralized his main coin, managed to get pewdiepie off of dLive and wrecked the decentralization of his latest acquisition, Steem? He's a scammer, a con-man, just smoke screens and dirty communist money on his back.

15  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do before selling your laptop? on: May 30, 2020, 03:37:18 PM
There are programs that overwrite your harddisk with random data, cluster by cluster. I've needed one long ago for Windows, I don't know what you use, but I'm sure a search will help you out. That should be pretty safe.

Another idea would be to make on the new laptop completely new wallets for the crypto you've used and transfer your coins to the new wallets. Of course, you'll also need to change the passwords and 2FA for all the accounts if you are this paranoid.  Smiley But I think that proper full overwrite should do.

Transferring the coins to a new wallet would seem to be the best option if one is really "paranoid" that deleted data can still be recovered using new technologies or tactics. I really understand the concern of OP because as they are saying nobody can really be too careful. Another good option is never to sell the laptop or just keep it which is for sure make things really so safe.

I already told my friend I would sell it when the new one arrives, I trust that he wouldn't go snooping around anyway but I'd probably go for a combination of moving to a new wallet + wiping thoroughly with multiple software options.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JPMorgan Now Says Bitcoin (BTC) Is Significantly Undervalued (Huge Turn around) on: May 30, 2020, 09:43:48 AM
JP Morgan has been flip-flopping opinions for years on cryptocurrency, just like all the other centralized institutions.

Maybe sane minds on the inside finally managed to get them to buy a massive chunk of BTC, and NOW that they are holding, they claim it's undervalued to pump their bags.
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do before selling your laptop? on: May 30, 2020, 09:41:07 AM
I would sell such a laptop only without a hard drive, regardless of all the methods that exist to completely erase the data, the risk is always there. In addition, if the laptop has a classic hard drive the performance of such a device can be significantly improved by installing a solid state drive (SSD) which is not a big investment (around $50 for 256 GB drive).

Or should I just surrender to my paranoia, buy a new drive, and take out the current one?

If you want to be completely safe, then either install a new one (preferably an SSD), or try to sell a laptop without a hard drive.

It doesn't have a classic hard-drive. It has an NVME, its already at the top of the performance chart hard-drive wise. I'll probably end up buying a new NVME to replace it before the new one arrives.
18  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do before selling your laptop? on: May 30, 2020, 09:18:07 AM
If you really want to be totally sure and at the same time have the peace of mind, probably just swap out the hard drive. For your past files to be as totally as unrecoverable as possible(I'm not even sure if there's such thing as 100% unrecoverable), as far as I know it's probably going to be quite complicated that you might as well just save yourself the time and change the hard drive.

Yeah I think paranoia would lead me into this conclusion eventually, NVMEs are not that expensive anymore these days so its not that big of a expense.

I read about a couple of these, I wonder if they work well with NVMEs as well.
19  Other / Off-topic / What would you do before selling your laptop? on: May 30, 2020, 09:02:35 AM
I'm faced with this very question myself. I just bought a new laptop, and it is on the way - my old laptop already has a new owner waiting for her. Still, I used to do a lot of crypto stuff with this laptop, and I'm afraid a regular drive wipe won't be enough to get rid of all my private key stuff that could give access to my crypto to someone else...

So other than doing a regular wipe, maybe 2 or 3, what would you do to guarantee that those keys are not recoverable? Or should I just surrender to my paranoia, buy a new drive, and take out the current one? I'm pretty sure people here have faced this very question here.

How would you protect your Bitcoin and alt-coins private keys from being taken over by someone attempting to recover data from your drive on purpose or accidentally?

Freedom = It allows you to transact with people all across the globe without intermediaries or crazy high bank fees. It is as close as we have come to actual global money.

Adoption = It has taken more than a few of us would like to achieve decent adoption, but its slowly getting better.
