5  Other / Beginners & Help / BTC volatility index on: June 12, 2011, 04:52:34 PM
We really need an equivalent of the VIX for BTC.  Anyone have ideas about how to implement this? Anyone want to take this on? I might be willing to offer a bounty for this, server to host.

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Future of Bitcoins as a legitimate currency on: June 12, 2011, 11:44:46 AM
The thing I don't understand is that on Mt. Gox, it says that the bitcoin is a commodity?

BTC trades like a commodity - not a currency. Currencies, except in times of massive crises have extremely low volatility, in part because they are so widely held. not so with BTC

1.4 G/hash here....Since May 1 and still relegated to the newbie sandbox Sad

ug - I have sold items for BTC on the forums, participated in multiple exchanges facilitated by the forums - really disappointed this scorched earth approach to newbie vetting was taken. It Immediately turns off new community members who might have a great deal to contribute and makes bitcoin look like even more of a cabal.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Mtgox support issues/ transfer issues on: June 12, 2011, 11:03:45 AM
So - because of the new restrictions I have no place to post this where it MIGHT reach magical tux/ improve the mtgox support situation. 50 posts is a pretty high bar for relevancy considering this is the defacto all of bitcoin support and community forum.

I transfered a large amount of USD to Mutum Sigilum's ( mtgox) dwolla account on June 9th. This amount has still not been credited to my account. I have sent 2 emails to support. Initially I received a canned response that I would hear from support in 36-48 hours. When 48 hours had passed without satisfaction, I emailed again. This time I got a zendesk ticket. Mtgox had obviously changed its ticket system - thats great. Problem is, it has been another 24 hours now and I still have received 0 communication from mtgox on this issue.  Anyone else having support and or transfer issues with mtgox?

I am totally comfortable selling this as Edge only for non Tmobile GSM in the US - thats fine. I guess this is the real story? Onward to ebay - if either of the two PM offers I have received here to don't work out...
15  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: SELLING : Unlocked Samsung Nexus S Android Phone - 55 BTC on: May 29, 2011, 03:05:11 AM
clarification: I bought it in the US, I had  tmobile with no plan, and my service was 3g. I used it briefly in Vancouver and I believe it was 3g on ATT. I call google/samsung and verify what networks the phone has 3g on and report back.
16  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: SELLING : Unlocked Samsung Nexus S Android Phone - 55 BTC on: May 29, 2011, 02:29:21 AM
wow - how has answering all of your questions AND going above and giving you more info than requested evidence of a SCAM?  This is NOT a good first experience trying to sell an item for BTC!!! I'm not sure how much I have to do here, i posted the model number and i described the product accurately as it is not activated now and I cannot test 3g on any network.

It would be easier for me to sell via ebay with my stellar profile : http://myworld.ebay.com/tomatosauce but instead I have attempted this little foray into BTC.

I'll be selling for fiat on ebay as I have previously until there is a viable way to sell items for BTC without trolls undermining sales.

17  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: SELLING : Unlocked Samsung Nexus S Android Phone - 55 BTC on: May 29, 2011, 01:44:10 AM
you asked if the phone was 3g - i said yes. And yes, I have used in on ATT AND GOTTEN 3G. But, because it seems like enquiring minds want to know, this was in Vancouver, CA.
18  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: SELLING : Unlocked Samsung Nexus S Android Phone - 55 BTC on: May 29, 2011, 01:26:33 AM
yes, its a 3g phone.
19  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: SELLING : Unlocked Samsung Nexus S Android Phone - 55 BTC on: May 28, 2011, 08:03:21 PM
Nope - ANY GSM network - not locked into tmobile... I used in on ATT...

Hey - thanks for the interest, just PMed with the ebay ID info you requested. You CAN root and tether it - its not for SPRINT, its GSM. the model number is: GT-19020T
