1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.7 (Windows/Linux) on: May 27, 2018, 02:17:21 PM
Is there a post somewhere discussing what people are dual mining?  I went from Sia to Decred to Verge and now I'm just mining Keccak algo on an autoexchange.  Keccak seems to draw more power (20-30w per card) than most of the other algos I was dual mining, I'm running AMD with dcri of 7.  Curious to see what options other people are dabbling in.

I tried searching for dual mining on here, but...so many results that do not apply

I like the intent.  Penalizing rarely works, or rather, is rarely accepted by the populace.  Incentivizing usually works better.  For example, I knew a landlord that made the rent due on the 10th of each month, but if you paid by the 1st, he gave you a discount! Yay, discount!  Which was the same as charging normal rent on the 1st and charging a late fee by the 10th ...

I'm not very creative, so i don't have any better ideas.

It would be difficult to prevent abuse of the system.  Abuse of any system, really ...

Most residential internet (at least Comcast/Xfinity) does not have a static IP address.  It may be available at an additional fee, not 100% since I've never tried to get a static IP.

I was about to ask the same thing...I've seen it do random one offs, but it shows me as contributing to the last 7 Neva Coin blocks and no Verge...is my hash rate going to the wrong coin?  Curious sense we don't have an account, only an XVG wallet address that cannot accept other coins ...

Any estimates on price and public availability?

- Claymore

Just wanted to say thank you.  Your miner program is easy to use and extremely stable.  I'm glad you share it with us instead of avoiding the headache and just using it for yourself.  More dual mining coins was a pleasant surprise for me since Sia/Decred is not viable any more.

Thanks
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Server PSU mounting on Open Air Rig on: February 06, 2018, 01:25:40 AM
I might just zip tie it.  I'm running the HP 1200w on 120v and it powers 4 of my 6 GPUs, it gets warm to the touch.  I think if I ran it on 240 it would run cooler, I'm looking into that as a project for this summer.

Those parallel miner rigs are super clean.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Server PSU mounting on Open Air Rig on: February 04, 2018, 09:58:22 PM
Anyone got some good pictures of how to physically mount a server PSU to an open air GPU rig?  I'm running a standard 550W ATX PSU and an HP 1200W Server PSU with a breakout board for an 8 GPU open air rig.  The ATX PSU is very simple to mount, just drill a hole in the angled iron and put 1 screw through, no problem, but my server PSU is just sitting on the bottom of my rig, not secured down.  Obviously I don't move it around very often, if ever, but I'd still like to have it secured somehow.

I used angle aluminum for the frame, with some wooden 1x3 boards across the bottom to mount the motherboard on.

Just looking for ideas of how other people mounted the server PSU.  I was expecting it to be bigger, so I've actually got a lot of room to mount it in.  It's also a lot louder than I was expecting, that little 20mm fan or whatever tiny size it is, is louder than all my GPUs put together.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem with Asus Prime Z270-p (REWARD 75$ of BTC) on: February 04, 2018, 01:39:54 AM
I have the Z270-P as well, I'm running SimpleMiningOS with 6x GPUs.  I had an issue as well with using the first PCIEx16 slot.  5 GPUs were easy to get up and running, but it took a while to get that 6th one up and running.  I'm using the latest bios downloaded and installed through the Asus flash utility via internet.  I have 4g Encoding Enabled, and the other options set to Gen 2 (I've heard Gen1 works better for Windows, not 100%).  Other thing was that even if I set the onboard video to primary, it sends the video feed to the card plugged into the first PCIEx16 slot.  Make sure your monitor is plugged into this card.

These things look identical to the Mintcell ones I have.  May be manufactured at the same place.

I run these Mintcell risers, so far I'm 6 out of 6 good ones.  I use the 6-pin power connector with no adapters.  Newegg also has the Mintcell Ver 009S on sale.

I'm running the Asus Prime Z270-P with 6 RX580 with no problems on SimpleMining
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: January 30, 2018, 11:42:38 PM
Does SimpleMining have a way to check wattage of the GPUs?  Something simple and basic, mainly used for comparison of changing core voltage and frequencies.  Something like what GPU-Z or AfterBurner would show on a Windows machine.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's the best GPU for me to buy? on: January 30, 2018, 11:16:28 PM
I personally like the RX570/580 cards.  Last month I was buying them for 300-330 each, hard to catch in stock but possible.  I average 29mh/s for Eth while dual mining and about 125w per card.  I wouldn't put more than 2 cards in a standard desktop unless you're using PCIE risers and have the cards mounted external to the case (ugly, but possible).

I don't have experience with the nvidia cards, imo they normally seem more expensive initial investment.  AMD cards seem to hash better on Ethereum compared to equivalent performance nvidia cards (Ethereum is what I want to mine).  Nvidia cards do better on other coins, I believe Equihash algo, than the AMD cards.

I ran 2 cards in my desktop while I was waiting on my server power supply to arrive from China for my dedicated rig.  It's possible, but I'm much happier not mining on my main computer.  When I want to play a game, i don't have to make sure to turn my primary card off mining first, etc.  Sometimes I would accidentally overstress something and my computer would crash.  Dedicated mining rig stays up all the time and keeps me warm in the winter  Grin
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Mining Pool Hub - Multipool. Multialgo, Auto Exchange to any coin. on: January 28, 2018, 04:40:06 PM
Wish we could get some more dual-mineable coins on MPH now that Sia is done.  Decred is next best option right now, but all of them would be nice, especially since Decred ASICs will be coming soon
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What motherboard are good for 7 or 8 gpu? on: January 28, 2018, 01:05:49 AM
I have the Asus Prime Z270-P and have 6 cards running currently.  I have the ability to add 2 more cards through the M.2 slots but haven't done so yet.  The Prime Z270-A has one more slot, so can reach a total of 9 cards with the M.2 slots, so it's a little better but harder to find/more expensive.

I believe they are both relatively easy to set up and get running with multiple GPUs, not plug and play, but adjusting some bios settings and it's not too bad.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SMOS dual mining on: January 27, 2018, 12:32:30 PM
Select the newest Claymore miner and use the normal start commands you would if you wanted to dual mine.  Claymore has a thread on here for his miners.  It's not listed as a dual miner, just as Claymore.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 9th GPU on ASUS Prime Z270-A Mobo on: January 27, 2018, 01:50:51 AM
Just curious, did you have any issues getting the mobo to run fine with a riser in the main x16 slot?  I have the Z270-P and I can't get it to run with a card attached to the PCIEX16_1 with a riser.  I tried it with just 3 cards and it would only detect 2 cards, however I'm running 5 cards just fine by skipping that slot.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: January 27, 2018, 01:45:04 AM
In the RX version, there's a typo on the Overclock window:

- Core Undervolt: This will lower voltage on your GPU so less waggate.

waggate -> wattage

Not sure if this has been pointed out before, should be a simple fix.

What options besides Sia are available to dual mine on MPH?  I liked mining both Eth and the dual mine coin on the same pool.

Is there any way to get a new pool added?  Like Decred for dual mining?
