1  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitLotto July 6 Update Thread - Jackpot going to be over 1,000 USD worth of BTC on: July 02, 2011, 03:12:14 AM
Whoohooo! Just over 1,000 officially now!

Would everyone like having the price to be 0.25/ticket next month or do you want it lower? (It's a fine line between number of players vs price and how it effects total jackpot)

I think 0.25 is just fine. Thanks. Already got mine in last week.
2  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitLotto July 6 Update Thread - Now worth 42 BTC! on: June 21, 2011, 05:34:41 AM
Still got 2 weeks to go. Just got my tickets today  Cool
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Not receiving payments. Very strange. on: June 20, 2011, 06:21:09 AM
I installed bitcoin on my macbook earlier today and had some payments sent to the address but never received the money. It was from multiple sites and It was confirmed to be sent to my address but nothing showed up in my client. After an hour or so I took the wallet.dat file off my MB and replaced it with the one on my pc thinking something was wrong with my connection on my MB but still nothing is showing up and now only one of the addresses are showing up on my PC with the mac wallet.dat.

I'm going to leave it going overnight, I'm very tired sorry if this isn't worded well. I any help would be really really appreciated.

4  Economy / Economics / Re: What's stopping deflationary increase in value? on: June 17, 2011, 10:56:07 PM
When I got started with mining, it seemed like it was going nowhere but up. Now it seems headed in the opposite direction. I thought this currency was supposed to gain value, not lose it? Is it not becoming rarer, and thus more valuable?

Oh boy  Roll Eyes

Bitcoin is 15x higher then it was 2 months ago. People are so short sighed.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Attempt to find current value of btc on: June 17, 2011, 10:53:06 PM
Ultimatly what this boils down to is trying to find:

What affects the price = Supply and Demand
What affects Supply = Miners
What affects Demand = Speculators
What affects Miners = Running costs
What affects Speculators = ....

If you can find these answers you will have a better idea of where price is heading.

Didn't mention a single thing about the bitcoin economy and it's use as a currency which is why everyone's dumping when you boil it down.

It got the media attention and all the tech savy people thought they could get rich quickly and out smart everyone but jumping in and just got turned into a giant pump and dump.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Trading or mining? That is the question.. on: June 17, 2011, 01:15:01 AM
i'll probably give up mining after the next difficulty increase mainly because I my mining computer as my main/gaming computer and don't want to put so much wear on the cards before BF3 >:-)    I'll probably hold on to my remaining coins. Put them on a thumb drive and put it in my drawer and forget about it till 5 years.

I'll try the beta tomorrow it's to late for me.

For some reason when I'm trying to overclock my cards I'm getting BSOD every time. 10% underclock, 1% underclock....I dunno wtf is going on. Was fine yesterday and earlier today. Installed 11.6 yesterday.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Big investors are coming soon to buy Bitcoin.. on: June 15, 2011, 05:55:36 AM
They have better things to invest in. Until bitcoin has a real economy behind it no big investors are going to buy in.

Exactly what I'm going for qed. How were you able to change the voltage? I'm using MSI afterburner on windows 7 64.
12  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6850 running 98*C stock? on: June 13, 2011, 05:18:53 AM
Yes 98C is way to high. You can keep going at that temp at the expense of the life of your card or try to keep it cooler. You want it to be under 80c I think is the rule of thumb.
13  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Underclocking 6950 to get better temperatures. on: June 13, 2011, 05:17:27 AM
what settings are you using? I'm trying to under clock as the sacrifice of Hashes for less Heat and Noise.

I'm currently running at:

Core Clock 750
Memory clock 800
Fans locked at 55%

Been running for 30 minutes getting about 80 Mhash/s less (currently 550) then with full clocks.

GPU 1 getting 64c
GPU 2 getting 75c

Sound level is as high as I care for it to be.

Are these settings ok?
14  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Underclocking 6950 to get better temperatures. on: June 13, 2011, 03:51:09 AM
I'm currently running 2 6950 MSI TF3s (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127575&cm_re=msi_6950-_-14-127-575-_-Product) in a crossfire setup and am trying to find the best way to under clock them inorder to keep the heat, power, and noise down as much as much as I can. I haven't been able to unlock these cards and I can't figure out how to change the voltage or what to do with if I could change it. Mine on both cards when I'm not at my computer, only 1 when I go on youtube/movies, and turn it off during games.

I don't know if there is some ratio I need to follow as to under clocking the memory or the core. I just don't want to damage these cards that much.

TLDR: How can I underclock/undervolt my 2 6950s to keep the temps and fan lower?

By maintaining this as a community of bitcoin devotees who understand this is more than a get-rich-quick scheme, we will grow more steadily and on a firmer foundation.

Bitcoin was 8 dollars 2 weeks ago. People really need to chill out. Everyone bugging is adding to the problem. Do you want to grow bitcoin as a currency or make a few quick bucks off a bubble?
