1  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: MTgox balance confirmation on: March 19, 2014, 08:09:35 PM
I had 2 1K transfers, 1 from late Dec and 1 from mid Jan.  Emails back to me said they are in the works and well be processed very soon, I never received a thing, my piddly 4 btc balance does not show on the new balance page.  Got me for 2.2K and 4.45btc's.  Crooks, should be in prison.
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: January 28, 2014, 05:33:53 PM
I swapped the psu with my desktop psu, i got the status OOO but now it just restarts itself after ~2 minutes of doing nothing. The mining proxy seems to cause my OS to freeze every now and then

http://s14.postimg.org/cl9mpqqgv/Untitled.png

Any ideas?  Huh

From another node on your network, you could attempt a TCP connection to 192.168.1.101:8332 just to make sure that nothing on either your network or OS or whatever is blocking incoming connections to your proxy. Otherwise, I can't see any reason, many people reported that Blades are *very* sensitive to network issues that are generally not causing problems to other devices.

I had intermittent problems using wifi with my Blades.  I bought a used switch and hard wired, instant 10.8ghs and runs for days and days with out problem.  Using Pi with bfgminer proxy.
3  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Raspberry Pi.... how reliable is it? on: December 21, 2013, 10:26:58 AM
If you're running hubs and miners off the supplied power bricks, you're doing it wrong.

Buy a low power ATX PSU, make up adapter cables, run everything off those.  The ATX supplies are more efficient, and don't die after a month.

+10

That's great advise for anyone running more than 2 or 3 hubs.  The atx psu I modded could handle my load until I exceeded 40 usb erupters.  Most PC PSU's only have a 20-25 amp 5 volt bus, they are limited. I use a 5 volt 50 amp Mean Well industrial psu now.  The MW runs 64 sticks without generating a lot of heat and it's quiet, and they are cheap.
4  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: December 19, 2013, 01:05:10 PM
I like MinePeon, I really do, but I've given up on it.

The Pi just isn't fast enough.  It can't proxy and run USB miners at the same time.  Even with the DLink 7-port which is considered to be THE USB hub for the Pi.  First my Block Erupter dies, then eventually the Jalapenos give up.  Of course, the NIC on the Pi is USB, so that craps out eventually too.  It's not a power issue, everything is running off a 750W ATX PSU.

Everything runs perfectly when attached to my TPLink router running OpenWRT with bfgminer 3.8.1 on it - the only difference I see is the TPLink's USB isn't broken, and it has a proper ethernet interface.

I'm still keen to test the BBB version of MinePeon, too.

Those D-Link hubs may be your problem.  When I started it bought several D-Limks, was never happy with them.  Sold them and replaced them with Rosewill 500's, no more usb trouble.  I understand you can't get Rosewill in the UK, maybe ship from USA.

I have 8 Rosewill hubs, a BE 49 port hub and a few V2 Blades, all run happy on Pi.
5  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Raspberry Pi.... how reliable is it? on: December 18, 2013, 02:03:06 PM
2 Pi's running 53+ghs of miners.  About the only problem I have is the usb hubs power supplies tend to die under the 24/7 demand of mining.  They slowing loose there output amperage causing all kinds of problems, same goes for Blades and Cubes, you need adequate psu amperage for efficient mining.
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: About those USB Block Eruptors on: December 18, 2013, 01:45:54 PM
The exchange rate of btc is always the wild card and if you say you know something is or isn’t going to be “profitable” in this btc game you’re fooling yourself.  Looking back even CPU was probably “profitable” long after it was declared dead at today exchange rates.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1688.0

That's right it took a few weeks to solve a block(50btc) with a CPU and the function was getting removed from the client because it was "pointless".

I was fortunate to buy usb be's at $7 so I have made my roi, but now that I'm in the "profit" side the difficulty has made that a very slow process.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: From Laptop to Minepeon on: December 18, 2013, 12:50:38 PM
The Pi's weakness is it does not cope with usb will.  You need a 5v 1a psu for the Pi.  The Pi uses .500Ma for the cpu and .170Ma for each usb port.  What ever hub you use must have a psu that can supply a minimum of .500Ma to each hub port that is being used.

You should have a dedicated psu for the Pi, a dedicated psu for the hub.  Plug everything into the hub and then the hub to the Pi.  A wireless dongle can draw over .750Ma.  I never achieved good results using a wireless dongle and the Pi, much better speeds with cat5 cable.

I'm running 9 hubs with 100 erupters plus 2 Blades off the Pi and getting 53+Ghs, Minepeon under Arch & bfgminer.
8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: V2 blade, Yellow light on ethernet? [Bounty for resolution] on: December 18, 2013, 12:28:25 PM
have a look to see if the pins inside the port are all fine. might be a bent on connecting to something it shouldnt also check the tiny solders where the port meets the board

If it were an issue with the ethernet port wouldn't that prohibit me from connecting to the blade via web browser to configure it?

I would think so.  You have several Blades running so you have the setup down, you've tried different cables and ports so I think that would rule out anything on the net side.  I would think it's related to this particular Blade, defective ethernet components?

This lists color/blinking to speed and activity.

9  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Raspberry Pi with Minepeon problems on: December 16, 2013, 02:45:18 PM
Did you add "--http-port 8330" to the BFGminer startup setting in the settings page of minepeon?  Like this.

Quote
#!/bin/bash
sleep 10
/usr/bin/screen -dmS miner /opt/minepeon/bin/bfgminer --http-port 8330 -S all -c /opt/minepeon/etc/miner.conf

In the blade configure page (192.168.1.254:8000)  you have to point the Blade to the minpeon IP in the "server address" line on the config page.  You enter this twice, like "192.168.0.34,192.168.0.34"

The port  entry would be "8330,8330"

The port # you use here needs to be the port# you entered in the minepeon config line.

You need a passwd, like "Blade1:none,Blade1:none"  Each blade needs it's own passwd, I use blade1 blade 2 and so on.
10  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Where does Newegg get their balls big enough to double the prices? on: December 16, 2013, 12:55:11 PM
Most retailers raise prices for the Christmas season so when they claim they are 50% off, they are really regular price.
11  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: USB Erupters price gone crazy on: December 14, 2013, 01:11:05 PM
I think most people miss the ever increasing difficulty factor.  I've paid as much as $20 and as little as $5 for block erupters.  I have 100 cranking away along with some Blades.  I've made my investment back but now that I'm in the profiet area the difficultly is so high I'm making 45% of what I was just six weeks ago.

I wonder what I could get for a 100 stick mine turn key?
12  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Block erupter issues on: December 14, 2013, 12:43:27 PM
I got 12 block Erupters that I bought back in Aug. they were working fine till a few weeks ago. I can't figure out what's wrong with them. I had them plugged into a Raspberry Pi running cgminer.
When I try to run it now, I get a error ffffff or error 000000. If I put in each miner individually they work just fine (tested each of them for a hr+ and no issues).
I tried a different PC with the same usb hubs and same issue

The psu for the hub could be dieing.  I've had two or three slowly die and it generates all kinds of problems.  You must have .5 amp at each port.

I tried the same PC with a new hub and same issue
Any thoughts on what could be going on? If it was the miners, then they wouldn't be hashing. If it was the usb hub, then replacing it would of fixed the issue. If it was the program then a new pc or usb would fix it....

The new hub had sufficient power for each stick?
Burn a new .img on a new sd card for the Pi, cards have a limited lifespan.

I gave up on the damn wall warts and the problems and heat they generate.  I hacked a psu to use the 5v rail to power most of my hubs, little more noise and lot less heat.
13  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How long have you been mining & what is your current hash rate? (+ bonus Q's) on: December 14, 2013, 12:15:08 PM
3 weeks

52gh/s

(technically 4 weeks, but the GPU mining was just a test)

Just curious.

*Bonus question #1: What equipment is ordered but not implemented?

-->I have another blade on the way.

**Bonus question #2: Are you in a pool? Which one?
-->Slush

You work for the IRS?
14  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are buying 3x USB Bitcoin Block Erupter ASIC Miner 330MH/s worth it? on: December 12, 2013, 03:20:26 PM
It seems to me the standard reply on can I make a profit with block erupters has been no since they became available.  I'm glad I didn't listen to any of the naysayers.
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 7950 vapor-x in pci X1 slot on: December 12, 2013, 02:42:17 PM
You'll have no trouble with power.  I have a pair of Sapphire 7950's running now, I use CGM, undervolt, slight OC.  Fans at 70% gpu runs 70C and vrm's about 8C higher.  The Vaper-X cooling seems to be good for 3-5C vs other 7950's I have used.  I have a Thermaltake 850 psu, running a OC'd 8350 under water.

Well yesterday I only got 0.04BTC...
Is there a reliable calculator that shows how many BTC/day is each Ghs compared to the current difficulty?

17  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Blade Erupter Help! on: November 23, 2013, 01:37:53 PM
The wire on most pc psu's is 18 ga or less, some way less, like 22 ga..  I would use 14 ga or better for wiring a Blade.  I just got two Blades yesterday, this morning I'm off to buy 12 ga wire and more cables to setup a second router.
18  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: USB 3.0 + Raspberry Pi on: November 23, 2013, 01:33:10 PM
The Pi does not support usb 3.0 period.  Barely supports usb 2.0.  Read about it at the Pi foundation web site, been a topic of discussion since the first Pi came out.

I know a few have been able to get a 3.0 hub to work sorta, I wouldn't waste my time when 2.0 is plug and play and generally a less expensive hub.  I started with a few 7 port d-links but have all 10 port rosewill's now, they run 8 sticks without problems with the supplied psu (wall wart).  You can use a pc psu's 5v rail to power the hubs if you can diy the connections.  5 volt power supplies are cheap on evilbay, about 40 bucks for a 30 amp psu, add your own connectors.

$881, Shocked btc may hit $900 today!!!!  ROI+ in 6 weeks. Grin
19  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A case study in entry-level mining on: November 21, 2013, 01:45:39 PM
How the hell did this turn into a debate about green energy?

This topic of entry-level mining, is quickly becoming Obama-fied.

Coffee on my monitor!  That's funny!

I'm a noob, so what.  If I had listened to all these nay sayers about never getting roi I would not have started mining 3 months ago.  Fuck roi, I've made a profit and everything is paid for.  I've sold the btc's I have mined, paid for all equipment.  The equipment is worth as much if not more than I paid for it.  It's win win dixie.  As difficulty increases so does the value of btc's, it's a wash.
20  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Increase of Asics on Ebay on: November 21, 2013, 01:25:30 PM
BTC's hitting $800 didn't help either.  asic sticks are back up to $25+ from the low of $6-7.  I picked up a pair of 13gh Blades for $190 each, maybe I should sell them.
