Get a pc or better yet build one that was never connected to the web.
Generate addresses & store the priv keys in a strong pgp encrypted file in safe places.
After making sure you did not screw up shread those files. (edit one - the wallet & non encrypted keys)
Send the btc you want to store to those base 58 addresses.
In the 'future' you can import the priv keys & rescan the blockchain in the Satoshi or core client to reclaim your btc.

hello, i stopped by since someone i know who spends a lot of time and research investing in alt coins suggested to me that I should look at this coin. a few thoughts not in any particular order or even any value but some considerations.... 1) normally when i see proof of developer it is a pass for me on a coin but since not everyone feels as I do.... i looked a bit more 2) i agree that when a coin is launched there should not be major changes to the coin production schedule nor the money supply since (i won't name names here) often people release coins with 50 million supply ect...., then 3 hard forks later the supply is 5 million.... large swings like this are not healthy for a coin and tend to create 'pyramid scheme' scenarios. Nice to see that there are some people running coins who have enough integrity to keep thier code intact to what was originally stated. 3) I could not find a link to the source code on github in the op only on the coins website is this source https://github.com/jimblasko/UnbreakableCoin-master on github available by link 4) I certainly respect developers who keep promises and do not fork the code of the coin every few weeks or continue to discuss 'proposals to change the coin' ...ect..... This aside since your difficulty retarget is every two weeks when blocks are being produced at a 10 minute clip. With higher difficulty a lot of mining hash power is necessary to continue to solve blocks so coins can be slowly moved about your network right now. Still since it is moving quite slowly now you may want to reconsider for the future (thinking long term) of lowering this to every 50-100 blocks. I have never been a fan of the kimoto gravity well or other quick retarget methods but to help people move coins around and encourage people to mine the coin... I would consider it if it were my coin. (in theory the current slower than normal movement of the blockchain could allow someone with enough hash power to start building their own little chain more easily than if it was moving at normal speed) (no i have no plans to attack your coin lol) 5) May i suggest you read this research paper from a few years ago (you may have read it before but never hurts to re read this every so often) Analysis of hashrate-based double-spending https://bitcoil.co.il/Doublespend.pdf#page=1&zoom=auto,-93,798 Normally higher difficulty is certainly a good thing to have since the higher the difficulty the more resources someone needs to mount any attack. I believe in theory at least that when a block chain is moving much slower than normal the points/methods/data in this research is something to consider. Some believe that 6 confirmations is some type of 'constant' or 'magic number' when actually it was probably chosen as a balance point just as you need not control 51% of a coins hash power to double spend or attack a network. Smaller amounts of hash power can actually attack a network although with less chance of success. This all aside i did not post these opinions of mine and other information to 'troll' your coin thread. Your development team as the people running the project should have control over how it is run. My purpose in posting here was to just kick a few ideas around ....... I hope you find the data in the paper I referenced in number 5 above useful (assuming you have never read the paper) As bitcoin mining grows and faster and larger quantities of miners become availabe to more people it is still hard to predict what impact this will have on alt coins using sha 2. Regards and best wishes -- difficulty with difficulty, i guess someone parked it out pretty high and no coins can be sent since the block chain is not moving,
if coin warz is accurate at 100 terra hash a block will be solved in just over 12 days
if 500 terra hash block in about 60 hours
obviously my figures are subject to luck but 500 ths should probably fix it up pretty fast

if i may offer some advice .... never mine coins to any address that you do not have control of the private keys for dont mine coins (any coin) to an exchange wallet ever always install the qt clients (use virtual box if you are afraid to install on your computer or own only one) always hold your own coins never store them on exchanges other than small sums there are way to many things that can go wrong or possible bad outcomes and it will be pure luck if the outcome is good honestly mm pools set up page says this: Note that you should prefer to use addresses that you control the private keys for. If you use an address for an exchange or wallet service and that service changes their addresses you won't be able to withdraw your coins. You will have to liase with the wallet service to recover them. The owner of the private keys for the addresses you use here effectively own the coins - that should be you! If you don't listen to me please listen to him. http://mmpool.org/registeri have been too cosy where i was mining to consider relocating but now have no choice with BTCguild shutting in 2 weeks.
So i'd like to clarify if it is 'ok' to use cryptsy wallets here as i see it says NOT to mine directly on each cryptsy wallet...
i apologise if its been covered but ive been negligent in keeping up with other pools' developments/criteria.

as Ahmed said, this was discussed only between Vlad and some btc devs. first on twitter and then in private, I was included in one or two discussions only on this. I have never had contact with anyone at f2 pool or cex. . personally i am not a fan of the idea but what I want means nothing. I don't control hash power that can determine what will or will not take place. I like ix and would like to see it still be around for a while and no test even if successful would satisfy those against the conflict between btc devs and community members now. I posted earlier in the thread other reasons why I don't like the idea of taking a VERY stable network and screwing around with it. Will certainly let you know if any changes are coming up. (as long as I know about them) We all value that you keep ix running in your pool. (guess I should say I know I do and Vlad does, cannot speak for others) We're hoping to start testing the iXcoin network this Monday to see how well iXcoin scales. Our hope is to help Bitcoin with the upcoming 20mb hard fork. The Bitcoin test net isn't scaling as needed so we hope, since iXcoin is a Bitcoin Twin, to show that iXcoin can scale to 20mb and do it successfully.
What does 'hoping to start testing the IXcoin network' mean exactly? To change the blocksize requires a hardfork and you'd need everyone to update. Having one miner change, even a big one, won't do anything since all the nodes won't have updated and their blocks would be rejected. As a pool mining ixcoin it would be useful to know exactly what is happening in case it affects the pool so I can prepare in advance.

i believe the actual number of people joining these so called 'terrorist ' groups is very small ,
it is likely a disinformation stream being put out by 3 letter government agencies who want to continue to justify war and other crimes -- popularized by mainstream and even non mainstream media as real so it must be real of course .....
also if you research carefully you can see traces of many known so called terrorist organizations with 'strange' things at their time of start up.....
some of them may have been started by intelligence agencies of the US or other nations
a honeypot
they justify this by saying , well there are some real crazy people out there that will want to form a group
let's form our own group for them to join before they form their own
then we can at least keep an eye on these 'people'
if you examine world history this has happened over and over and over in various places and ways
just a newer media sensationilized version of old old school psy op
finally, even the fbi admitted recently that they have yet to foil any true terrorist plot since 9/11
everything they foiled was a sting operation set up by them
just think long and hard about what a terrorist is defined in the dictionary as and what the fbi calls one
there are terrorists out there , no doubt ,
most americans are so busy trying to work to pay their bills and logging into facebook to waste time they cant even look away from their phone or job long enough to do anything
think of who the real terrorists are
think of who has benefited most --- financially and in power grabs ---- since the war on terror
99% of Americans need to carry around a jar of smelling salts to wake up to what is happening

I thought at one point of moving to Aruba, not really a country a territory of the Netherlands I believe.
Main reason, no cops.
(other random cool things like drunk driving is legal, they have no regulation on drugs -- not that I want to get high but I am tired of seeing people jailed for victimless crime, lovely climate !!)

yes , SHE just saw the issue was a large file size, sorry i thought the wallet was working normally To ftc-c , if your wallet works .... see if you can just strip it ... :-)
strip src\qt\bitcoin-qt.exe But I still can not start qt-wallet. debug.log not been wirted any and no been changed. It broken Striping just makes the filesize smaller by removing symbol and other data used for debugging, I am not sure why he suggested that as a potential solution -- he probably just saw the part where you said it was 179MB and didn't see the part about it crashing... You should try running the non qt regular daemon and cli before the qt. It may crash the same, but it might give you output in the console that isn't making it to a log prior to the crash. If not and it proceeds to run, then there should be a debug.log file and/in the directory now. (Not that this will likely fix the problem with the qt, but can at least help to rule out things like permissions in the directory etc). Does the data directory Exist? (C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin) The client should automatically create the directory when you first run it. If it isn't then that is where the crash is probably occurring: Possibly crashing because it cannot create it, or does not have access to it. If thats the case, what's stopping it, is it a permissions issue, etc? If the data directory does exsist, is there a conf file inside of it? The client automatically closes and tells you that you need to add rpc username and pass to the conf file, if it isn't there or if the conf file isn't present. Unlike the data directory, it does not create this for you. If the data directory is there, and the conf file isn't, this might be a candidate -- although like most issues, it should be telling you the problem, and if Im not mistaken debug.log should already be generated at this point.

Good question untested as of yet it is on my to do list if you have time, feel free to check it out and post your results, you can do a gitpull if you are able to contribute, we need all the help testing everything out we can get, and NODES , run an iX node today !! references for curious https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_specification#txcurrent github where ix development is taking place (since Thomas has vanished and never merged any new code !! lol) https://github.com/IXCoin-Devlatest windows release based on this tree https://github.com/IXCoin-Dev/IXCoin/tree/0.9.3 is here https://github.com/vladroberto/IXCoin/releasesAnd you thought Vlad was not on github !! lol never ever underestimate him Fund raiser for Ahmed:
I wanna do a small fund raiser for Ahmed. The guy is a student and he has done so much work for ixCoin and he has yet to be paid anything but some small tips. On top of it he's a good, honest dev; we're lucky to have him.
I will match any donation from this community for Ahmed up to a total of 10,000 IXC (so potential of 20,000 IXC).
Bring it to me!!!
Edit: Only condition is that Ahmed can't dump these coins to pay for school books or a hot date, lol. You gotta hold them at least 6 months. Not much to ask...maybe you'll get an amazing Christmas this year.
Is it possible to send them to him using an nlocktime transaction so he's got them, but can't spend them for six months? I know bitcoin supports nlocktime transactions, but does ixcoin?

What is the best way to support your favorite alt coinI left out starting your own pool and things like adding code to the coin since this is beyond the ability of most people and not realistic. Still I am curious. My opinions are running a full node and mining the coin are the best ways to support a coin. ANY COIN But what do I know ?? I welcome all votes, opinions, and post below if I missed anything I should have allowed as a vote !! With all the brilliance buzzing around this forum I am sure we can find the real answers !! edit 1: poll runs for 14 days
