821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XDP] dogeparty - a layer on the Dogecoin network for new coins (clone XCP) on: July 23, 2014, 11:28:57 AM
of all coins the worst ever is doge ,

some others and I think it was a social experiment just to see if the public would use a coin designed as poorly as possible and what would happen when they took out the purchased hash power and fake buy orders

other people think it was backed by people to damage litecoin

whatever it is the worst ever.

hopefully someone 51% 's it soon and stops it

823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: July 22, 2014, 03:08:32 AM
no disrespect but iX is much more accepted and traded by the public around the world

i0 is traded only on vircurex since the other exchange that had them delisted the coin

I am not familiar with i0 or how active it's development is but there are a lot of big plans underway for updates to iX

There are other reasons I feel iX is a better investment beyond price and present use

This information is from private research I have done with a few other people.

while I hold a small amount of IXC, I have long been of the view IO coin is the better chain due to the better launch and other features, and gain a large hash security.

I would highly recommend that IXC coiner re-balance holdings largely into IOC.

I even like the name as it is similar to .io and also like a 1/0
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cinnamon Coin 1.4.1 (CIN) No PreMine POS ONLY on: July 21, 2014, 09:39:44 PM
for now i left it as it was due to requests by users of cryptocointalk,

if anyone wants to make suggestions please do a gitpull,

issues are current block has a neg. timestamp thus impossible to solve (i was able to fix this issue but the difficulty went and stayed at 272 million , i even tried including new code and bumping the protocol kicking all old clients off the network to a 'test' of new client.... cannot seem to resolve difficulty issue)

to be honest I am not a pro at c++ and the coins cinnamon coin is cloned from btc, nvc, ppc ect... are well designed to prevent anyone 'tampering' with certain things ....

if anyone has ever tinkered around you know exactly what I mean

what protects coin networks like bitcoin or any coin done properly from a rogue person coding some new rules in is preventing me the developer changing the rules.

I am sure it can be done if I was a good enough programer and knew exactly where to make the changes but I admit my skiills are not so good.

I am good at many things but proof of stake I admit has me over my head.

I suspect very few people really understand what is going on with proof of stake and how it works and how 'arbitrary' it can be.

That is another issue too. Willl post again when I have a resolution.  Was a bit fustrated yesterday after my code that worked so well on test net did not work on the network.

Someone suggested my options are either

1)
let the coin run as it has been , no more proof of work (if i do this I know how to securly recode the client for proof of stake only and will adjust the annual percentage up a bit)  ,

2)
relaunch the coin with a premine and do an exchange for coin holders

Now I undertsand why so many 'developers' vanish and are never heard from again.

I guess it takes a woman to 'step up' and admit I have a problem I can't solve on my own (yet) instead of running away.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new constellations POW **CPU-ONLY** NEW 0.9.2 CLIENT on: July 21, 2014, 09:25:06 PM
is this an open source miner ?

if yes i may try it out can you please point me to github or where the source is .. thanks

Hi All,

I am looking for people with linux running on ARM processors to try a solo miner...

Before you say yes, there is no warranty!  It might work, it might not.  The "block found" code is under tested so it might work, or it might not.  It might run very very hot, it might just run hot (etc. etc. on the warnings)...

What I am looking for is a gauge of interest as well as an indication of performance over different hardware.

Link including a readme can be found:

https://mega.co.nz/#F!6Y8ywRoZ!5ogMJEc2Teq5ckt9WClNpg

What I would like is a summary of how you go items I would find interesting are:

Hardware type used.
OS version used.
Performance seen.
Wallet used to mine from.

For performance let it run for a few hours (note it runs hot, hot enough that the stock cooling on my odroid couldn't stop thermal throttling and more than once it thermally shutdown on me) and grab the lines which look like:

Code:
[2014-07-21 00:00:11] Total: 6506306 knumbers/s
[2014-07-21 00:00:11] Expected average time to block: 9310938.838931
[2014-07-21 00:00:11] accepted: 0 in 2858 seconds
[2014-07-21 00:00:11] thread: 1 TOTAL (p0,p1,p2,p3,p4,p5,p6) = (588022,16663,497,9,2,0,0)
[2014-07-21 00:00:11] thread: 1 setup:0.117046s sieve1:0.044911s sieve2:1.215523s sieve3:0.000003s total:2.564233s

Once again, just seeing how much interest/work I need to put in to make it portable and faster.

Regards,

830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: July 20, 2014, 03:30:29 PM
honestly I am not familiar with where i0 coins development is right now although I have a few i0 coins laying around

If i0 is current with btc then it would be a much easier job to update iX to the 9.2 client.

I am not the person who is working on that so my comments were my own thoughts on how I would have to approach it.

The only differences  really from i0 and ix i know of are the difficulty retarget system, magic number value, block spacing, reward system ect.....

iX seems to be much more in use and traded/mined ect..... higher difficulty too last time I checked
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cinnamon Coin 1.4.1 (CIN) No PreMine (POW )& POS TRADE ON COINS-E on: July 20, 2014, 03:22:18 PM
NOTE -- CINNAMON COIN MAY BE DEAD,

I DON'T HAVE THE TIME , MOTIVATION AND LACK SOME OF THE NECESSARY C++ SKILL TO PROPERLY FIX THE CLIENT

THERE IS NO GENUINE INTEREST FROM THE COMMUNITY OR ANYONE ELSE IN THE COIN

I SHUT THE MAIN NODES OF THE NETWORK DOWN

I NOTIFIED COINS E TO DELIST THE COIN

IF ANYONE HAS A PROPOSED FIX THAT CAN SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS (CURRENT BLOCK TIME STAMP NEGATIVE CANNOT BE SOLVED, DIFFICULTY NEEDS TO BE RESET FROM 292 MILLION AND A HOST OF OTHER PROBLEMS)  DO A GITPULL AND IF IT WORKS ILL MERGE IT AND RESTART THE CHAIN

BLOCK HEIGHT WHERE I STOPPED IT IS 57307,

WHILE I SOLVED EACH PROBLEM INDIVIDUALLY I CANNOT SEEM TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER

I AM TIRED OF IT

THATS IT

tell your friend a time traveler from the future came back in time and taught an unknown team of software developers how to code bitcoin and launched it.

let's see how this goes,

once long ago the talley stick was the only way the king of england would accept tax payments,

if sticks of wood held off money changers for almost 400 years, may bitcoin can take a good run at them

the longer numbers and block time are a great idea, not sure i would favor a riecoin 2 , I am still trying to research methods to mine riecoin

Also I am unconvinced that features of anon tx will hold water

Most that claim it are false now.

Obviously a good area for future research....

would be better to make your choice if you could check out that gpu miner on testnet of primecoin vs. see a demo

i do agree future technology will continue to increase what are the present limits of hardware ect...

if so then please write it like Ricē  Wink

+1

...and add RAM requirements (shinycoin) to make it a truly a CPU-only coin.

I like Ricē

But right know I don't know how to make it more RAM demanding... (that is, without radically changing the PoW). After seeing the alleged speed of primecoin's gpu miner, I think that a Ric gpu miner will eventually be unavoidable. Newer GPUs will keep getting more and faster RAM anyway.

I was thinking of making the nonce (offset in the block's header) be 512 bits long instead of 256. This would allow for more efficient mining putting us closer to the elusive world record.

Also 5 mins per block: the wallet would sync faster and each block would have more difficulty, getting us closer to that record....

the difficulty is 2 million and the dev can't make a linux wallet Huh what ?

No thank you

Hey Everyone,

It's been a long, crazy, but exciting day.  Things have happened much quicker than I had expected.

I'm exhausted and gonna call it a night.

Thanks for all your support.

Just a reminder, we're still looking for people to step up and continue development.  Anyone that is interested in developing a Mac and/or Linux wallet can send me a PM.

Goodnight
