They already said it would be beyond a standard US power socket 120V x 15A = 1800w (US will be shipped underclocked)
and standard EU power socket is 230V x 12A = 2760w

So my guesstimate is somewhere between 1800w-2760w (2280w is the average)

They used large standard PC coolers and a desktop case on the last lot so expect to add your own 4U rack cases.

They did say that 20nm would be their last consumer focused product. I took that to mean aiming for bulk data centers sales going forward.

Jesus, yeah I remember that reading that too...just wasnt sure how it translates. So does that mean it will still plug into a normal US wall socket with a 20amp fuse or does it need to be adapted to like an electric dryer plug? Thanks

Yeah, sounds like you will have to use a higher rated socket, usually found in the kitchen, for cookers, drying machines and the like to run it at it's full potential.

Cool yeah, just did some more research and found that it should be ok...Also, you mentioned the miners will be shipped underclocked. Does that just mean I have to set it to overclock myself? THanks

If I remember correct the actual wording they used was something like "more cores would become available when there is more power". I'm not sure how that would work. Simplest option would be some kind of firmware upgrade/downgrade I guess. KnC didn't make their last batch user overclockable I suspect to stop users breaking them.

Hmm, i see, very cool. Thank you for the info...

785  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy or Wait? on: January 05, 2014, 10:42:03 PM
Bought another bitcoin yesterday for 825, so already made 100 bucks on that. Always buy, then when it drops, buy more...bitcoin can not be stopped now
786  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Best Mining Rig? on: January 05, 2014, 11:55:22 AM
First off dont buy shit from BFL, that dude had 1 good experience, but now hes getting a taste of what the rest of us went thru. I cant say KNC anymore and the rest probably suck. So yeah, i would go with the scrypt miners...mine alt coins and exchange them for btc. You can make a killing if you guess the right coin to mine. That coinye west is gay as shit, but it will probably be worth something in the short term if dogecrapcoin can be

This was helpful, and I did a lot of thinking about it. I think I'll go with mining LTC? What do you suggest?

Well thats the catch too...people are realizing the cheap money is in scrypt mining so all of the good grafix cards you need are on backorder because they are all manufactured in CHina, so they get first dibs. Is a little late to come into the game and find something now. If you can build your own rig great. Put in some orders for those raedon 7970s or something compatible. Or hit up ebay and i think people sell prebuilt scrypt rigs for a decent price, but try and talk them down.
787  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Best Mining Rig? on: January 05, 2014, 11:47:43 AM
I've been mining LTC for a while using a PC with a couple of AMD 7970 graphics cards in it. Start here for a good comparison of what you can get for your money.

https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

Keep in mind that you'll be working the cards hard, so they will put out a lot of heat and noise so you will need somewhere cool and out of the way to run your mining rig. Also consider the cost of your power, you don't want to spend $6K on a mining rig only to find you can't afford to run it and the air conditioner you need to keep it cool Smiley

The other option if you are willing to wait a bit and take a chance would be to pre-order a next generation ASIC Scrypt miner. These promise to run faster and cheaper than anything currently available, but nothing has come to market yet so your taking a chance by paying now and hoping they can deliver. Alpha Technology announced pre-orders for the first such ASIC script miner a few days ago...

http://www.coindesk.com/alpha-technology-pre-orders-litecoin-asic-miners/

Those ASICs aren't even being delivered until 2nd half of 2014 are they? Way too far in the distance to even think of pre-ordering, you have to put down 30% deposit I think.

I ordered the 25 MH...that beast will probably be pulling in 2 or 3 litecoins a day even after another 6 months. And not to mention all of the other coins that will be coming out in the future. Im sure there were a few people that thought that way when Avalon announced they were taking pre orders, and avalon made a lot of the people who took the gamble millionaires. No risk, no reward... They offer refunds too

I will only pay taxes on bitcoin, in bitcoin. And you can take THAT to the bank!   Cool

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding what I should do with it. Or does anyone want to develop it into something? It can mean a lot of things in bitcoin.

thats probably, nay, that is his referral link. So he benefits from you buying from them. But with a name like lordecameltoe, i think hes to be trusted...jk. Its an option, but i dont like it.

Yeah there's no secret, that is my referral link.  I'm not trying to sell him anything, simply offering him alternative solutions to his question. If it helps him, then I'll get a small reward in return for my time.

Here's the direct link if you don't want to sign up under me : Cex.io

And my name is meant to be weird.  Its so you remember me Smiley  Lordcameltoe.com.  It's branding 101.

Its branding 101 for retards, no offense. You really think anyone will take you seriously with a name like that? Hey, I heard bitcoin is going to take a dip. Where did you hear that? Lord Cameltoe! Embarrassing, i would never go to a site called cameltoe anything...sounds like some HS kids domain. Reminds me of that beer startup on bitcoin starter, "The Department of Awesome. My god... This is money we are talking about here. But good luck

They have been saying that for months. But a market crash would be awesome for bitcoin. It would remind people there is no one you can trust anyway so why not go bitcoin. At least no one can make anymore of it

Did you really just advise someone to look at BFL miners and youre a Hero Member?...thats such a noob move and pretty shameful actually

Are you trolling? Because i don't understand how can you recommend BFL...

Oh God. Here we go again. I swear I'm the one guy on these forums who doesn't hate them. I've been a customer of theirs since the FPGA days, and I've always had good luck with them. They're slow, but always deliver a solid product in the end.

Their support has always taken care of me as well. I'm sorry, but Avalon support was a joke. ASICMiner support is pretty much this forum. KNC is ok, I guess, but they're not in the US. When BFL shipped me a replacement PSU, it was at my door 2 days later.

Yes, I have several Monarchs on pre-order. I'm not gonna gush all over them, but would you all get off my ass? You'd think I just admitted to worshiping Hitler or something.

Yes, you are the one guy...and there is always THAT guy. Even Hitler hates BFL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jYNMKdv36w

Just because you might have had a lucky experience with BFL, doesnt mean you should be recommending them to new miners. You are the 1 out of every thousand that was content with their performance as a company. Being a Hero Member, a noob might trust you not knowing there are thousands of other posts calling BFL a scam, which in my opinion they are. Of course they deliver a solid product, they mined with it for 2 months before they sent it to you. Im glad you ordered those monarchs, maybe you will now feel what everyone has experienced. They will be worthless by the time they arrive just like everything else they put out. When KNC delivered their first round of jupiters they were hashing above what they had promised by 30-40 percent. People sold jupiters for 25k after mining with them for 2 months, and thats on a 6k dollar purchase price. BFL crap never even makes it to the actual buyer because the preorder is sold on ebay after they figure out it will be worthless by the time it comes. That practice pushes more people away from bitcoin in general and takes advantage of noobs. I did it myself, and BFL put me in that situation.  BFL is one of the last black eyes of bitcoin and I would love to see that company burn to the ground. KNC is the best mining company in the business imho...oh yeah and BFL sucks
798  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Anyone know this hw miner seller? on: January 04, 2014, 09:08:36 AM
Hi,
i 'd like to buy an usb miner from this seller:
http://bitcoin-world.net/
but I haven't found any info on the net about them and in the web site there is no address.
The price seems low, but they only accept bitcoin payment so it's impossible to have money back if they will send nothing.

What do you think? Has someone bought something from them ?

Thnx
Ste

Of course its a scam, they have jupiters listed for 4 bitcoins. Jupiters are still selling for 15-20k on ebay. Dont send them sheeeiiiiit!

It is yet another account creating website with the facebook and twitter cookie tagging tracker java embeds on the homepage.

I dont think so...its more like a bitcoin community which offers the services it takes 10 different websites to do
800  Bitcoin / Press / Re: The COIN Enquirer 2nd Edition is Out! NSFW Extremely Offensive on: January 03, 2014, 09:48:30 AM
Is this isn't a forum for self-promotion. Also, a one page .pdf with "maybe last edition" doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence.

Why is this even here?

Well there are 2 issues...and this is the press forum and this is press   http://theamericanbitcoincompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/THe-COIN-Enquirer-2nd-.pdf

The "maybe last" was just a joke I think ..like if people didnt think it was funny, you know...
