1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Desirable is a scammer; lost $20, luckily I didn't lose more. on: February 07, 2015, 06:12:21 PM
Can you post a screenshot of the PM that you gave him your address? Can you also post your address so one can easily check it in a block explorer?

Absolutely.

2  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying $10 BTC with Paypal friends & family. Only positive karma users. on: February 07, 2015, 06:00:24 PM
Sorry, positive karma only.
and where is your postive karma Huh?

You got me. Hopefully I'll build some. I run several online businesses though, and wrote many technical articles on mining, and I can't cancel the payment when sent that way, so, hopefully for $10, I don't need any.

4  Economy / Currency exchange / Buying $10-$20 BTC with Paypal friends & family. Only positive karma users. on: February 07, 2015, 03:28:23 PM
I know Paypal sucks, however, friends & family doesn't let the buyer reverse the transaction, which I found out when I got scammed last week. That's why this has to be from a user with positive karma. Sorry.

I'd like to buy just $10 if possible; if it works out and you actually send me my coin, I may buy more later. Thanks.
5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Desirable is a scammer; lost $20, luckily I didn't lose more. on: February 07, 2015, 03:23:06 PM
What happened:: I sent him $20 with Paypal friends & family. He said said the bitcoin would come "through an exchange" (whatever that means; I now realize it was a handy way to deflect blame). Then he disappeared and stopped answering PMs. He's still active on this board. He didn't have the red warning on his account when I traded with him, obviously.

Amount Scammed: $20 USD

Payment Method: Payal friends & family

Additional Notes: I'd really like to buy a small amount of BTC from someone who won't scam me, so if you're willing to sell a small amount with Paypal friends & family, say $10-$20, PM me.

DESIRABLE IS A SCAM ARTIST, DO NOT SEND HIM ANY MONEY.
7  Economy / Currency exchange / [sold, thanks!] on: January 23, 2015, 06:27:42 PM
Edit: found someone, thanks!

I'm aware of how much people hate Paypal, but at the moment it's my only option.

I'm looking for a small amount, just $20, so hopefully that minimizes your risk. I run several online businesses, and it wouldn't be worth it to wreck my reputation for just $20. Although I haven't had much activity on this board (though I have been registered for over a year), you can find me on Reddit where I have over 30,000 comment karma, and I'm also the writer of Uncle Bubs' tech blog, where I write technical articles about my experiences with mining. Thanks.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Fees even higher? I'm now getting charged 19 cents USD for a 0.01 BTC transactio on: July 22, 2014, 10:46:10 AM
What is going on? This is unsustainable. And please don't compare this to banking or credit card fees. Comparing a cryptocurrency to a 100 year old proprietary banking system makes no sense.

I don't see how Bitcoin can be used as currency like this. It's unworkable. It needs to be fixed, STAT. Are there any plans to fix it?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's the difference between a GAWminer and a Zeusminer Blizzard? on: July 22, 2014, 03:56:50 AM

MODS please move the thread to alt coins------------ thanks

You're that greasy little fuck who used to eat lunch at the teacher's table, aren't you?

Also, what is all that spam supposed to be?

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [COINO] The Coin(O) Community Discussion thread on: July 21, 2014, 01:20:03 AM
I'm having the same problem as others; after about an hour it synched to current, then dropped down 354,000 blocks remaining. Now it has 0 active connections and is just sitting there. I went through this thread and added all of the nodes people mentioned; if anyone has the addresses of some more working nodes, it'd be much appreciated.

I don't know how to help you in detail - never happened to me, I'm using the wallet v0.6.4.0-g3aaa7ba-release - but globally speaking I'd suggest as follows:

- verify that the wallet version is the above - menu Help - about coino. In case download the wallet using the link at the top of this post
- go to the Roaming directory C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Coino and delete the files blk*.datso to force the wallet reset all blocks info.
- verify the nodes in the coino.conf file - if you need it. The correct file content is at the top of this post.
- restart the wallet and good luck!

Hope this help. Regards,
gwopr

That seems to have fixed it, thanks. I was running the last version somehow, 0.6.3. I forget where I even got it; it was either the coino site or in the last thread here. Someone should try to get all old versions purged because for every one person who posts here for help, 10 people are silently just giving up and moving on to the next altcoin. Thanks again!
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to mine Sha256 algo coins. Any Suggestions? on: July 20, 2014, 11:28:08 PM
Don't listen to the haters. I mine a lot of sha256 coins, have a lot of fun, and make some profit too. For example, eMark was really hot last week-- it was trading for .00001 BTC at one point. Bitcoin has been at the top of the heap this week, but nothing wrong with mining Bitcoin for a while, and that always changes. A new one shoots to the top daily or weekly; just keep an eye on Coinwarz.

In fact the only reason I stopped mining eMark is because I can't figure out how to solo mine on my Linux box. I use the exact same config files as Windows, everything is as it should be, but I always get "No servers were found that could be used to get work from." If anyone can give me a hint as to what's going wrong it'd be much appreciated; here's the Stack Exchange post with all the details.
13  Bitcoin / Mining / Why does bfgminer say the version is 4.4.0-32-gac4e9b3? Is it a fork? on: July 20, 2014, 11:17:17 PM
All other copies always just say something like "4.0.0", just a number. This one says "4.4.0-32-gac4e9b3". I've compiled so many versions that I honestly may have lost track of which I'm running. Is it a fork, or is it just what the latest version says for the version?

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fury/Blizzard tuning and mods on: July 15, 2014, 07:56:06 PM
This one from here: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=20477.0

There are also some good tips in there for optimizing your performance.

Nope. Now I've tried that, cgminer, regular BFG on my linux box AND my windows box. Although it shows up as a connected device in both Linux and Windows (it shows on COM6), no miner software seems to be able to see it.

UPDATE: I've finally got it to respond on my Windows machine, using the custom version of cgminer from Zeusminer.com. So it's not DOA, which is a relief. It has a ton of hardware errors, and the top speed it's reached so far is 1.1MH/s, but it's not dead.

So now I'm back to the drawing board. Something is definitely up with the Linux box. It's running two Rockminers flawlessly, so I dunno.

The fact that it only works with the custom version of cgminer from Zeusminer is a hint, I just don't know about what. If I was a more talented C coder I would look at the source, because the answer must be in there somewhere.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fury/Blizzard tuning and mods on: July 15, 2014, 07:00:51 PM
How do you determine which batch your Blizzard is from? I can't get cgminer or bfgminer to detect it. Have tried everything I can think of; I spent literally 8 hours yesterday trying to get it to work. I'm on Mint (Ubuntu).

If anyone is willing to take a look it would be greatly appreciated. Here is the thread on Stack Exchange with all of the details of my setup.

What versions / builds of cgminer or bfgminer?
The cmds are different.  Could be -S zus:all or -S zeus:/dev/ttyUSB2 (notice zus & zeus) depending on which version of bfgminer for example.

Bfgminer 4.4.0-32-gac4e9b3, compiled with --enable-scrypt

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Looking for an eMark wallet binary for Ubuntu 12.04 on: July 13, 2014, 11:05:49 AM
Having a hell of a time compiling it. qmake doesn't like me and I don't like it. Can't find a binary for Linux anywhere, though.

If you know of one, please be sure to leave your BTC address so I can send you a small tip. Thanks!
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cgminer solo: will -btc-address work for other coins? What should it be instead? on: July 10, 2014, 06:39:39 PM
Any sha256 should work it's just that officially only bitcoin is supported.

So the --btc-address flag can be used with any coin, then?
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: July 10, 2014, 06:32:35 PM
What alternatives to cgminer are there for the R-Box? I mine other sha256 currencies, and the new versions of cgminer (the ones that support the R-Box) are Bitcoin only.
We only support mining bitcoin, but cgminer can't really tell apart an altcoin mining sha256 from mining bitcoin so there really is nothing stopping you using it.

Unfortunately when mining solo, cgminer now requires the --btc-address flag, which restricts it to Bitcoin (or so I was told). I mine most alt-coins solo.
