1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Selling fake cure for COVID-19 + using alt accounts on: March 24, 2020, 04:02:30 PM
What happened:
A user called 'jalangkote' is trying to sell (non-existent) herbs, claiming that it prevents/cures COVID-19. He is charging $765 for 120 days of treatment and $1,400 for 240 days of treatment. While this is an obvious scam, unfortunately plenty of people fall for this kind of quackery. I called him out in his topic, telling him that it could be extremely dangerous to make these kinds of claims and that he could possibly hurt someone. Not only does he continue to make fraudulent claims, he also attacked me with several of his alt-accounts (even leaving negative feedback).

After asking 'jalangkote' for photographic evidence of your laboratory, a chemical analysis report of his herbs, a scientific report of how your herbs prevent/cure COVID-19 and/or evidence of claims that they have 'resolved H5N1' he replied that he's not giving any evidence due to privacy reasons and told me to buy his herbs and test them myself. This makes it extremely obvious that he's trying to scam people.

Connected alt-accounts:
hugabase
jcksteve

After leaving 'jalangkote' negative feedback, I received negative feedback from 'hugabase' and 'jcksteve'. Both account are also defending 'jalangkote' in his topic. When searching on Google for 'Gakulawa' (the non-existent herbs 'jalangkote' is trying to sell) one of the search results leads to https://www.x24kgold.com/, which also happens to promote Gakulawa. When searching on Google for 'x24kgold.com' one of the search results leads to this topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=909650.0, where 'hugabase' is trying to sell the domain. This makes it extremely likely that 'jalangkote' and 'hugabase' are controlled by the same person (which explains their similar writing style. This topic makes it obvious that 'jcksteve' is also connected to the same owner: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=905866.msg17093968#msg17093968

2  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Yobit cancelled my zcash zec deposit . please help 🤦‍♂️ on: March 19, 2020, 01:34:40 PM
Can you show evidence that the receiving address is actually your YoBit deposit address? Although YoBit is widely known to be a shitty exchange, I doubt they'd intentionally block/steal such a small amount.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prices are going to moon according to Willy Woo (analyst) on: March 19, 2020, 01:21:22 PM
Please move this to the Speculations section. This section is getting littered with price analysis/predictions threads lately.
4  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: WALAHALA HARDWARE WALLET on: March 19, 2020, 01:15:30 PM
There are quite a few red flags. I wouldn't touch anything on their website with a 10 ft pole:

1. No actual product pictures, just a few renders.
2. No link to Github/proof of open source software.
3. No information about the hardware wallet's components.
5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: March 19, 2020, 12:42:56 PM
troll

What has he been doing this whole time?

He has been busy contradicting pretty much everything Satoshi ever said/done and spending Calvin's money on losing lawsuits.
6  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Pretty in pink- Corrosive Creations bitcoin piece on: March 19, 2020, 12:41:19 PM
Not my cup of tea but well made! Are you planning on creating .999 silver pieces in that size?

An A3 sheet of silver? That WOULD be something, however it's not something im looking to do at the moment 👍

Feel free to let me know if you change your mind. I'd definitely be interested in one of those! Silver spot is cheap atm so it might be worth looking into Grin.

So far team 'BuyBitcoin' has already earned 78,335 points! Very cool to see the Bitcoin community unite and contribute to battling COVID-19.

My inability to find anything on their website that is dedicated specifically to COVID-19 is frankly what got me looking for their Twitter in the first place.

It's literally at the top of the front page: https://foldingathome.org/2020/03/10/covid19-update/

They also posted everything that is being researched on Github, see the post above yours.

Be careful what you download, even if it is claimed that it is for a good cause. It wouldn't be the first time someone has misused a time of crisis to gain profit for themselves. Not saying that is the case here but like always: "Don't trust. Verify"!

Check out their website. Folding@Home is a Stanford University project and has been around for many years. Regarding their source code:

Quote
FAH is built from several open source tools, namely Gromacs (http://www.gromacs.org), TINKER (http://dasher.wustl.edu), and AMBER (http://ambermd.org/) for MD packages and MPICH for MPI (http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/mpich/). If you’re interested in checking out these codes, you should feel free to download them and check them out. One can compile a SMP version of Gromacs by using the latest Gromacs with MPICH. This would reproduce the SMP clients we have on FAH.

Most of the critical parts of FAH are publicly available. The Tinker and Gromacs source codes can be downloaded and run. Unlike many computer projects, the paramount concern is not functionality, but the scientific integrity, and posting the source code in a way that would allow people to reverse engineer the code to produce bogus scientific results would make the whole project pointless. However, we stress that the vast majority of our code is already open source. We have an Open Source FAQ with more details.

Great initiative, downloading it now. I remember running Folding@Home on my PS3, I think it came pre-installed. At some point the published statistics of the amount of data analyzed by all PS3 owners, was pretty impressive.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Edward Snowden is bullish, BTFD on: March 15, 2020, 09:30:32 AM
A lot of people bought the dip. The number of addresses holding more than 1 BTC reached a new ATH, although it's hard to tell how many individuals own those addresses.
15  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WARNING] Sol Noctis Keys Compromised / Scam on: March 15, 2020, 09:05:29 AM
My first thoughts was that someone had a script running to sweep anything over the load amount and if swept by said script, reload with proper face value. This would be for if somebody fucked up and overloaded a coin while manufacturing.. but the fact that this "script" is still possibly running and private keys not destroyed is alarming.

According to TWC no private keys are stored:

Quote
A private key, which is needed to redeem the face value, is located under the coin’s protective holographic layer. It is automatically printed and is not stored by the manufacturing company, which means only the owner of the Sol Noctis coin has access to it and thus can realize the face value of the coin at any time.

I think it would be best to contact them directly and ask for clarification.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A question about AML KYC on: March 12, 2020, 08:07:13 PM
I don't think you will find many members here that are in love with KYC/AML.  I am glad to have acquired most of my  BTC long before this issue became a thing.  For now when I need to use/spend I simply use an exchange and convert BTC to XMR.

Any offramp to fiat will require KYC at some point, unless you're comfortable using P2P exchanges like Hodlhodl.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most durable paper/material for Bitcoin paper wallets? on: March 12, 2020, 08:02:57 PM
You could contact Polymerbit (www.polymerbit.com), they have made a wide range of paper wallet notes. They print their designs on high quality polymer.

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Scalability on: March 12, 2020, 03:53:59 PM
The trolls are being trolls because Bitcoin is winning/WILL WIN the war of attrition. Wait for the halvings of Bitcoin Cash and its fork, Bitcoin Cash SV.

Yeah, Nope.

Your winning just dropped to ~$6k.

I guess you won't get it thru your thick skull that bitcoin can drop to $zero until it does.

Enjoy your fantasies , sorry that reality is smacking the shit out of you.

 Cool

Please compare BItcoin's drop to the drop of every other shitcoin. Thanks!
20  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lauda = scammer / extortionist - nullius = twat double standards cheater on: March 12, 2020, 09:13:12 AM
There are lot of posts demonstrating lauda had a good amount of dark/dash when he was claiming the was no instamine.

Only thing that saddens me is I didn't buy more, esp when it dipped to .0025 for a bit recently.

Well, looks like you're all on your own there.
Everybody else here got all the DRKs they wanted with absolutely no regrets at all. In fact I feel like I got too many.

Something is missing from this quote.

Why do you feel like this? I have a lot (more than all other altcoins combined), yet I feel like I need/want more.

Hi yes a  copy paste error the correct one is much better

Yes I though it weird him saying he had too many. that didn't sound like he was driving people to buy more dark.  He says he has a lot but want even more. That more like the dark lover and proponent lauda.

Ah this member. Ok I though I post this one. I don't think the lauda wasn't holding dark is an Avenue to explore. It is quite undeniable.

He is a scammer you are a scammer supporter.
Until he is not abusing trust, with his gang of scammer supporting pals and will operate within a transparent object standards he will be hearing about it.

There is no attacking innocent honest non scammers and getting away with it.

Am I misunderstanding you or are you calling me a scammer supporter?
