1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]🔵🔵 OYSTER 🔵🔵 Anonymous Storage Generates Revenue for Websites on: April 20, 2018, 01:56:44 PM
How long would it take for the speed to get to a more reasonable level because I inputed the speed into a calculator online and apparently it would take 9 hours to upload 1gb of data

The speed will increase based on the number of users participating in the project.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: April 19, 2018, 01:24:15 PM
Does the project already have competitors in this area?

no
Sia is the only decentralized cloud storage, with beta version already running
so, the one

Take a look at Oyster Pearl before you say no.

The decentralized storage is on the IOTA tangle with the transactions on the ETH blockchain.

I still think there is a spot for both of these to coexist.  The primary focus of Oyster protocol is not for storage.

I hate to be this guy, but BUMP.  I would really like to know some opinions.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CCO Live]PECULIUM - First Saving System in Crypto Driven by AI on: April 16, 2018, 01:31:18 PM

From today you can check the LIVE backtest:
https://product.aieve.io:8443/aieve

Thnx for sharing. So AIEVE has started  from $ 936.44 on 2018-01-16 and now she has $ 1880.36 in her portfolio, i,e 943,92 profit in 3 months. Is this correct?

That's what it appears to be doing.  If you look at all of the trades, they are very minimal profits for each one.  However, they are mostly in the positive and have obviously built up over time.  The market fluctuations have not really caused a sharp drop in her balance which is exactly the sort of savings that I would like to maintain.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [PRL] Oyster Pearl predictions on: April 16, 2018, 01:25:58 PM
buy prl now. its very cheap.
End of this month mainnet will be released so i hope you are getting in before that.

It's cheap for months. People spent all their fiat money to buy more Oyster. When is this gonna end?
It should be over 10 dollars already. Very slow progress, very slow.

The product has not been released yet.

The recent dump is from people buying in right before the snapshot and then dumping right after.  I would expect the price of SHL to be super low following its listing as people will just sell it off as soon as they can.  I will be right there to buy it up.  I'm sorry you are not happy with the current price.  However, take a look at the market as a whole.  Are you expecting all of your other investments to be 10x-100x already?  You are dreaming.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XJO] Joulecoin | SHA256 | First SHA256 data coin | Major upgrade 0.10.4.2 on: April 16, 2018, 12:00:04 PM
i hope this coin become the next bitcoin Grin Grin
I hope this coin will increase to 1000 sat for beginning and then it will become the next bitcoin Wink

I like AlUz's plan.

Doubling the value would certainly be nice, but the volume needs to be increased and the awareness of the coin itself needs some work.  Real-world application of the coin needs to find its niche.
7  Other / Meta / Re: 14 merit bonus for quality users [Jr to Sr. Member] on: April 13, 2018, 06:28:51 PM
I know this is an old thread, but seems like it's still getting some activity.

Please check out my last 20 and see if I can finally bump up to member.  Some people don't take Jr. Members seriously, but the same may be true for members.  Either way, let me know what you think.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin back to 8k$!! Is this recovery or a trap? on: April 13, 2018, 06:10:52 PM
I personally don't think that it's a trap.  There are a lot of US investors likely getting into crypto with their tax returns.  Tax day is upon us and those who have to pay may be trying for a quick buck and are buying in now.  The market as a whole looks bullish and I'm glad to see it.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [PRL] Oyster Pearl predictions on: April 13, 2018, 04:12:43 PM
Everything is going up, why Oyster is going down? It should've been over 1 dollar already.
More than %75 fall since ATH price.

In terms of sats it is still at 1/3 from it's all time high. Agreed it didnt pump before the airdrop but in crypto wold usually ppl sell a day or two before the event to pull out their profits.

There is still time for the pump to happen.  There is a little under 7 hours left before the snapshot.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [PRL] Oyster Pearl predictions on: April 12, 2018, 05:39:41 PM
So like I can see, PRL will have its SHELL airdrop tomorrow. It seems weird that this coin hasn't yet pumped. Thinking if it's worth the risk buying some today...
Airdrop on April 13 and will give you a 1:1 SHL token for every Oyster Pearl (PRL) you hold on KUCOIN and ERC20 token wallet, thoughts which should be an additional boost, however Alts are bleeding because Bitcoin is rallying now but I'm holding this anyway as I see great potential in this project.
so SHL will automatically listed on kucoin? it is to late to buy Oyster Pearl to get SHL? did you know or did you can predict SHL price when this token listed in kucoin?
bitcoin is now going up trend, and PRL token price is also going up now

It's not too late to buy PRL to get SHL.  The snapshot doesn't take place until tomorrow, 13 Apr 2018.  There really is no way to tell what the SHL price will be.  However, I would assume that it will initially list at the same price as SHL and then likely drop abruptly from there.  However, the market is looking bullish so it may just surprise us all.  I bought in when it was much higher in price for PRL so even now it is a great bargain.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: April 12, 2018, 04:51:19 PM
Those accounts are literary high knowledge in crypto currencies, aside on that maybe they growth in digitalization why they have high understanding  regarding bitcoin and other crypto currencies. Sometimes when I see nullius accounts i was thinking that it is real that he is a newly participants or it was a sub account of one higher rank in bitcointalk. Maybe they born with high intelligence gift that's why they can easily go with the flow in this sites

It's a Bitcoin forum so it is natural that people with knowledge will write more informative posts and get more merit. Isn't that how it should be?

I certainly think so.  That's why the whole merit system was created.  It is to encourage better quality posts.

However, when you look over those linked above and where they received the majority of their merit, you see it is mostly from threads on merit.  If you look, you can see that there are a TON of threads on merit.  I have posted here and there on this thread, but gave up as there seems to be a never-ending supply of people that want to complain about it.  I can't recall, but I think I may have even have been one of them (sad to say).
Then, I realized that it is really for the best and the ranks don't mean much unless you are concerned with signature campaigns.  I'm not overly concerned with merit myself these days and tend to frequent threads where a lot of the posts are overlooked.  The one reason that merit would matter to me is if somebody overlooked my post simply because of my rank.

Anyways, carry on with the complaints from the opponents and the justifications of the proponents on this thread.  Cool
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 42-coin Development Discussion Thread on: April 12, 2018, 02:54:53 PM
Just to enlighten some people that may not know (I didn't) that 42-coin's lowest unit of value has a name.  Instead of satoshis (like BTC) they are dents!  http://hitchhikers.wikia.com/wiki/Arthur_Dent

I learned this from the 42-coin discussion telegram group Smiley
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Novel Application of Transaction Comments on the Blockchain on: April 11, 2018, 01:07:33 PM
I have been looking into the real-world applications and implementation strategies for various cryptos and came across Joulecoin, XJO.  This coin has been around since 2013!  At first glance, it seems like just another fiat currency replacement.  However, itís actually quite novel in that you can write transaction comments to the blockchain itself.

So what though, right?

Well, think about the real-world application of this as a business currency.  With the proper coding and software implementation, you could write client names, job names, etc. that can be tracked for business purposes.  Everything would not only be secured on the blockchain, but proof of all of the transactions occurring would be clearly visible to anybody looking into it if they had the tx hash.  Sure, this takes away from the anonymous nature of cryptocurrency, but real-world applications do not necessarily need to be truly anonymous.  The security of the blockchain itself is enough.

I have no idea how to implement this into any sort of application, but thought that it was a great idea to think/talk about.  I am not aware of another crypto that allows transaction comments that are written directly to the blockchain.  Please correct me if I am mistaken.
14  Other / Meta / Re: New Shill Accounts for Marinecoin on: April 11, 2018, 12:11:45 PM
I hate those newbies posting for that shitty marinecoin claiming that they will earn 450,000 coins. They are very annoying I hope some admins do something to stop this shitty airdrop. 450,000 coins just for airdrop and per person? LOOLL. Imagine that 1,000,000 people joined in this fucking airdrop, so they will distribute a total of 450 TRILLION coins and that is just for airdrop only. What about the token sale? The coin for the devs. This marinecoin is pure BULLSHIT!!!!!
I am writing this at the risk of restarting a forgotten thread shitposting about a legitimate project. But this level of ignorance is just too much for me to tolerate.

Firstly, let's not get carried away with numbers just because you have a calculator. And a faulty one at that. 1 million * 450k = 450 Bn and not 450 Tn you dinkus.

Secondly, total MTC circulation is capped at 10 Bn and a time dilution approach to airdrop is being adopted whereby airdrop payoff will slowly reduce over time. This is similar to mining payoffs reducing with time with increase in mathematical complexity. MTC devs discourage mining and have designed the system such that miners can't get enough MTC. You can try to mine and find out if you want to verify this.

The thread author says he/she did not even care to research Marinecoin. But did have the time and energy to write to mods against it and badmouth the project.

So, let me put out a few points in the hope that I can change your minds:

1) The Marinecoin project has a coin distribution model which is free and fair. 95% of total supply (10 Bn) will be distributed to airdrop claimers through a proof of promotion bounty. Currently this promotion is restricted to Bitcointalk posts. The reason for this distribution model is to have a large and distributed community and prevent hoarding by few. The dev will retain 1% of coins for, in his/her own words, "my family"

2) The Project is almost entirely community-run (except for the core dev). Volunteers from the community moderate forums and channels. They create DApps on the platform. In the initial phase of ICO (Phase I) where 450,000 coins were being distributed to airdrop seekers, volunteers were also filtering the applications to weed out double dippers. But the scamming went so much out of hand that the dev created an AI engine to help with the ICO (Phase II) where 20,000 coins are being rewarded to airdrop hunters. People can claim 20k coins every 24 hours by making a promotional post.

3) The AI engine is like a BCT message posting assistant that helps people write informative messages about the project (Phase I had many non-informative posts that looked like pure spam). Some of its grammar and sentence construction is currently out of place. But like a deep learning AI it is improving with every passing day to provide better suggestions. Since, posts are not allowed to deviate too much from the original suggestions, many people just post what the AI told them to. Hence the messages seem spammy. For now. However, it will not seem like this for long.

In light of this, many of our community members had their accounts banned and messages deleted. I am pretty certain that most people did nothing to find out why so many messages about Marinecoin was around and that too by Newbie Accounts. People simply assumed it was spam/bots/scam etc. and reported the messages. Some of us tried to appeal through mail to the mods but got no replies. So we were forced to let go of our original accounts and create new ones for posting. If you ever get your account banned for no apparent fault, you will get how it feels. Please understand it's a legitimate effort to promote a good project. Nothing more, nothing less.

And yes, I did get my 450,000 coins in Phase I and continue to get 20,000 coins everyday in Phase II. But some of your jealous friends got my account banned. So I was compelled to come back with a new Account. I have had my say and I am content now. I am sorry for calling you a dinkus but shitposting makes me angry. You can PM me if you want to know more about the project. I am a community member too who fell in love with the lightning fast speeds of transaction, zero transaction fees and no mining support. If you want to test any of this, I'll send over 10 MTC to your Marinecoin wallet. I am not the dev. But if you feel offended about my post, go ahead. Get this Account banned as well if that makes you feel good.

First off, nobody is saying that this is not a legitimate project.  Second off, the math error made by LogitechMouse does not really take away from the point made and calling names is childish.

The issue is that there was/is a preponderance of shill posts that did not make much sense and were copy/paste posts which you claim should get better with time in your point 3 above.  An AI posting assistant is just silly (IMHO) so that people can get their airdop coins.  The merit system was built to discourage posts like these.  The accounts are getting banned because they add absolutely no value at all to the topic in which they post them.

I admire the idea of trying to discourage whales from owning large quantities of the coin, but the main point of the post was not to bad-mouth the coin or its devs or its community members.  It was simply to point out the shill posts.

I said myself in the OP that 'This coin may not even be the only one doing this.  I just haven't noticed any others.'  The fact that your coin's posts stood out to multiple different people as being shill posts says something.  I'm sure your coin is not the only one and I'm sorry if your account(s) were banned for your posts.  Established accounts were not included in my OP to be considered as stated 'I know I am not alone when I say that I am sick of the Brand New/Newbie accounts being created simply to post once or twice in various threads about Marinecoin.'

Again, I hope you can understand my points and realize that I was not directly attacking established members or the project as a whole.  It was simply about the posts.

Essentially, this is a case and point regarding the participation in ICO and the potential losses you will incur.  Medibloc is a great project and I have investments there, but I'm definitely down.  Medicalchain is a similar project and it is also down overall from ICO price.

Joules market has been rather quite lately. I see the mining happening but no selling nor buying.

Check out Cryptopia.  There is some volume needing some more love on that exchange.

So, I never heard of this 'Soros' guy; but whatever, his name's in the phone book. So, I rang him and said, 'Dude, buy XJO!!'

Cool I know joking, but would be awesome if some institutional investors got involved in XJO.  Maybe that mobile wallet mockup would become a reality and find a real use for the blockchain comments!

I have been doing more homework on this coin simply because it fascinates me.  The coin is very similar to BTC with the added PoS aspect.  One thing that stuck out to me when I was doing some more homework is that this coin is divisible by 14 compared to BTC's 8.

42 always had the same 8 digit precision as BTC:

On another note:

I see the roadmap has testing with this thread linked: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2480007.0

Can you update us on the status of this test that's been going on for over 6 months.  I see it is being traded on coinscontrol exchange (infrequently), but cannot really find much other information regarding the coin or its current utility.

This is a sponsor's project, developing independently. Currently, there is no much success there due to some unresolved difficulties related to the direct use of cryptocurrencies in business.

This link is about the old 42...

Welp... open mouth, insert foot  Undecided

Looking into the history I imagine must be limited to when this ANN thread was started.  I'm sorry for the misinformation posted.

Also, thanks for the update on the sponsored project.  I hope the difficulties get resolved.

specifically, this comment:
Quote
@vi.su. Er, no: 42*10^14 / 21*10^6*10^8 = 2 in my good ol' rusty calculator. So total amount of 42coin's lowest denomination pieces (what would be a good word for it? babelfishies??) is exactly double that of bitcoin's lower denomination

So, basically, 42 is double to total supply according to this comment (and my own math).  I think that people would get more on board with this project if people understood this.  BTC is purely PoW and half the total supply of 'sats' compared to 'babelfishies'.  I am clearly not sure what to call it.

BTC total supply is: 21,000,000 to the 8th decimal is 2,100,000,000,000,000 sats.

42-coin total supply: 42 to the 14th decimal is 4,200,000,000,000,000 [to be determined]
