41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who sold their bitcoins? or HOLDing ? on: January 18, 2018, 03:35:02 AM
Did ppl sell of all thr bitcoins or sold some and kept some,  or ppl are still hodling it , weathering this bitcoin crash storm !

Some are not but most of them sell it, in my country we are in the state of panic because the media announce that if your bank account tracked that has bitcoin transaction they were close the account immediately, and the government making a legal action about the issue we did not no if the output of tha is in favor of us or not, so sad to say we are close to loss our investment because of the low value and this issue.

Where do you live? South Korea?

question, anyone had problem with hynix memory? where we can only boost until 18,5mh? prettly lame Sad

Yeah i got a batch with Hynix aswell around 18.5-19.20 mh.. My Samsungs are doing around 23 mh  guess i didn´t hit the silicon lottery this time Sad.

I've got 3 1060s all verified to have Samsung memory. 2 of them max out at 20 mH/s the other at 24. The 24 is a SSC and the other 2 or FTW2.

lucked out on the last batch of EVGA 3gb from Amazon, all were Samsung.
Rig of 8 avg 200mh/s on claymore for Ethereum.

Is it worth it to look into dual mining?

For the 6gb cards: definitely. Can't speak to the 3gb, but I have 8 of the 6gb (5 Samsung, 3 Hynix) and all 8 take next to no loss in hashrate when dual mining. YMMV of course, but whenever I am mining any ethash coins I ALWAYS dual SIA. Worth a shot...
I was dual mining SIA but my cards were getting really hot. I need a better cooling solution before I start dual mining again

That's a pretty good idea for propping up the GPUs. Are you worried about unequal air flow over the GPUs that are at different heights in relation to the fans?

The top shelf is a bit warmer than the rest, but it really isnt an issue.

great project, i havent read the entire thread but what have you come up with for reducing moisture in the air and filtering

my garage is set up similar, although much smaller scale.. but i leave the back door open for fresh air intake and air pushes out through ridge cap in the roofing and soffit vents

I've not solved the humidity issue, but i foresee it being a huge problem. I have found corrosion on one GPU. This must be resolved ASAP!

I'm open to suggestions. Is there some large air blower that i can feed air into the shed that doubles as a dehumidifier or something? I need to set up some conditioning of the air.

What about a recycled air system with a dehumidifier. Or pull the air in and run several dehumifiers in the tubbing.

I am going to whattomine and check profits for 2x 1050 and 1x 1060.
I seen 2x 1050 gives more profit and their cheaper. I correctly check profits or there i not understand something ?
1050ti cards are more available than 1060 cards and cheaper. Here is the way I look at it

1060 is about 2x the performace at about 2x the cost, but use roughly the same amount of power. So your ROI for the cards will be slower since you have to pay more for Hash/Watt and the hash rate of a rig built with 1050tis will be lower making the ROI for the supporting hardware longer. However waiting for reasonably prices 1060s to be available will cost $ in the long. Its up to you if you want to buy them.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best CPU Mineable Coins in 2018 and CPU Mining Guides on: January 13, 2018, 06:46:29 PM
Thank you for this thread. I plan to mine CPU coins as well in conjunction with my PoS and Masternode.

Anyone who has experience in using a Mini-PC?
I plan to get one and Run Windows 2012 server 64-bit. Then install multiple windows VM's in it (3-6 VM's).

Planned setup:
CPU: INTEL® NUC KIT NUC7i7BNHX1 With Intel® Optane™ Memory 16GB
SSD: SanDisk SDSSDA-480G 480GB SSD PLUS
RAM: Kingston Technology HyperX Impact 32GB

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have no experience mining on an Intel NUC, the CPU is basically a low powered CPU made for laptops but in a better vent mini PC so you should be able to get a couple 100H/s with it. I think you will be better off going Balls Out on the CPU has a whole though rather then breaking it up into 3-6 VMs.

I ha e a  NUC for the family to use. They get pretty hot. I wouldn't feel comfortable minijng on them 24/7.

50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: H110 Pro BTC+ low hashrate on PCIe 1x on: January 11, 2018, 09:40:17 PM
Hi to all, I just bought this mobo from ASRock, installed Windows 10, and trying to setup some GPUs, they're all Sapphire RX 570 ITX with Elpida/Hynix Memory.
I've found a bios mod to obtain 30H/s on ETH, over the stock 22.5H/s, and tested on 4 cards one by one on PCI 16x.
The problem started when I connected some GPUs with riser cables on 1x slots. The same cards gave me 22H/s instead of 30, and even with stock bios it was reduced to 19 over the initial 22.5.
Given that it's not a power problem, since the PSU is a 850gold, I thought it was a riser problem and tried all things, switching from sata/6 pin adapter to 6pin direct connection, with no luck.
Finally I've tried with a single GPU on a riser cable, if I connect it to the 1x slot, it gives me 22. If I connect the same, always with riser cable, to 16x slot, it works well at 30H.
So I assume it's not a riser problem, but a slot one, am I right? Or what else could be?
Is there any solution to this?

Thanks in advance

Did you try and change the PCIe generation?
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help needed with choosing the best graphic cards for mining on: January 11, 2018, 05:23:32 PM
Hi there,

I've got a question,

I'm starting to build my own mining rig, and got some questions.

I've got everything ready, except for the GPU cards.

I'm wondering if there is a much difference in like 1050TI 4gb and say a 1060TI 4gb with hashing power?

At most cards i see their mhz and CUDA cores. Do i need to look at them for mining ?

I dont want to go for mining the "old' coins, but i'm going to mine the new altcoins like XP coin, trezorcoin etc

Thx in advance~!

I'd stay away from the 1050ti cards. It really depends on what you want to mine. For some AMD cards are better, for others NVIDIA cards are better. Price and availability also come into play with most places being sold out of the better cards. Best advice I have is research which coin(s) you want to mine and then research what other people are getting with their cards. Then use that information to make your decision.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1050Ti and 1050 mining performance on: January 10, 2018, 04:43:50 PM
MSI 1050ti

zcash I get ~ 200 sol/s
xmr I get 150 H/s
eth I get ~12MH/s

Power usage unkown.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fixing GPU sags. on: January 10, 2018, 04:33:06 PM
I have been neglecting the GPUs a bit lately, but I have time to resolve some issues now. I have tried different ways to mount the GPUs, and we have found the best simple way to prevent GPU sagging. Using the waste ends of the 1x4s and some binder clips the GPUs have better support.

Before:

After:

This is like $12 for all those clips! Who needs to spend a bunch of money on GPU suports? Make 'em your self!

We made a short video showing it all.

54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1060 discussion thread on: January 09, 2018, 09:59:29 PM
Hi

I've just joined the forums as I have just got a Gigabyte 1060 windforce to add to my MSI gtx 970 and I'm not exactly impressed.  I'm using my PC as I've just started mining in the last few weeks.  I'm just testing at the moment, hashrates seem ok but it's the temps and more worryingly I think the voltages that I'm not happy with.  If i'm mining anything on equihash it goes up to about 70 degrees and the fan noise is pretty loud, I have a custom fan curve in afterburner 70% at that temp.  I've just tried mining electroneum as a test which my gtx 970 doesn't go above 40.  The 1060 is at 56 but worringly it's at it's performance limit for power, thermal and reliability voltage according to hwinfo64.   GPU-Z seems to be saying the same thing, it says under perfcap reason m vRel Vop.  The 970 just says PWR so obviously it's having no issues.  The power consumption on the 1060 while this is happening is about 68%.  Sorry I was trying to add a screenshot but it's not workng.  And this is with -100 on the core and no overclock on the memory, power limit 85 and the voltage not touched!

Maybe it just needs a lot of configuring but hoping you guys can help.  Is this normal for a 1060 to do this?  I have got one with Hynix memory unfortunately  By the way I'm using Awesome Miner.

Thanks

I've had the same issues on mine 1060's. Equihash just runs hotter. Try placing some fans directly infront of the GPUs.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How can i calculate what PSU i need? on: January 09, 2018, 06:13:14 PM
You definitely want to overbudget when you're looking at PSU ratings, especially for 24/7 mining. Running a PSU 24/7 close to its maximum is asking for trouble.

In general, you don't want to exceed about 70-80% of the PSU's rated capabilities. Buying a PSU capable of delivering more power does not cause you to use more power, but do note that most PSUs reach optimal efficiency if they're loaded somewhere around 50% of the rating. (For a better 80+ PSUs, this becomes less noticeable.)

Add up the TDP of the CPU and all of your graphics cards, under the assumption that you don't have an unusually high number of drives or fans. Then multiply the sum by 1.25-1.4 (subjective), and you have a rough estimate of what you're looking for (generally round up to the nearest typical PSU rating, but you could round down if the difference is small enough). You can usually get by with less, especially if you mess with clock & power settings, but that's for you to play around with.

Also check for the number of connectors, particularly PCIe 6-pin or 8-pin connectors. These are necessary for powerful cards in a multi-GPU system.

Look for PSUs with the guts manufactured by Seasonic, SuperFlower, FSP, Delta, or another reputable manufacturer. Most upper-end units from brands such as EVGA are made by one of these.

Those made by HEC, CWT, Sirfa/Sirtec are lower on the totem pole, but *usually* do okay. CWT especially has gotten better since they partnered with Corsair a few years back. However, for heavy 24/7 loads, I usually look for the OEMs in the above tier.

Those made by unknown OEMs should generally be avoided. Perhaps they'll be okay, or they'll fail. Worst case involves a crappy PSU damaging your other components.

Thanks man ! This seems pretty clear.
So, Assuming i've this configuration:

Mobo: H81 Pro BTC v2.0
CPU: Intel G1840
RAM: 1x4gb
GPU: 1x Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5 PULSE

Intel G1840 has a TDP of 53W.
Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5 PULSE has a TDP of 185.

I sum up: 238, then multiply per 1.4 = 333.2

1) If i decide to buy a 500W PSU than 70% (500*70/100) this will result in 350W so 20W of margin from estimations
2) If i decide to buy a 450W PSU than 70% (450*70/100) this will result in 315W so -16.2W from estimations.

While 2) should be good too, 1) for sure good. So the PSU should be greater than 500W.
According to amazon the best option is Corsair 550W at 44€ shipped

This comes with the cable needed for Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5 PULSE that is 1x8pin and my psu has 2 of it, So OK
This is it.. right? Thanks again for your patience Cheesy

If you're certain that you're going to expand, then it may be worth considering higher-end PSUs, at least beyond 500W. For example, it's usually the case that up until around 850W, bigger PSUs give you more watts per dollar. (Over 850-1000W ish, the prices start increasing more rapidly than capacity, which makes 2x PSUs worth considering)

Make sure to ground the PSU cases to eachother..
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How can he make so much money? on: January 09, 2018, 04:07:24 PM
One guy I know - who we dont want to ask but be sure of that - makes 100k Dollars a month with mining ETH in Sweden. (ETH Price 700 so now it would be a lot more)
So he and some friends of his own a mining farm.

How do they do that? We dont want to use Google because we are sure that what you find there is scam.

Does anybody know an answer? we also have a screenshot but i m not allowed to post a picture

Initial investment: $500,000   (based on 1000 cards at avg price of $400/card added in another 100k for supporting hardware)

Revenue: $100,000
Depreciation: ~$50,000 (based on the schedule I use)
electric: ~10,000 (1000 cards pulling 120W/H at $0.12/Watt)
building rent/mortgage: ~2-3,000 (I'm guessing here and I doubt he is running it out of his house)

Profit would only be about 47K/month after expenses, and I'm sure I've missed a few like insurance, security, other utilities, etc.

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: windows or linux on: January 09, 2018, 03:48:05 PM
i never use linux so i dont know which better
all my rigs run on windows and till now i dont find problem or trouble with windows so i stay

but if you were told that your liner miners could get x2, x5, x10 more than on Windows? Would you decide then to try to mine on Linux?
If that's really the case, why more people using windows instead Linux?

Ease of use, familiarity would be my guess. I use Linux everyday at work, plus other OS's that most people have never heard of and it still takes several hours to get a Linux box mining
Linux:
get AMD/NVIDIA drivers
get newest cmake version
get newest g++ compilier
compile AMD/NVIDIA drivers
disable X
blacklist X from loading
download miner
compile miner

finally can mine, but only after having to google how to do each of these steps and spend hours on stack overflow searching every error that comes while installing

Windows:
get AMD/NVIDIA drivers
install drivers
download miner
start miner

58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Remotly restart mining whenever GPUs crashing on: January 09, 2018, 07:09:49 AM
Hello Guys,

Im wondering if it is possible to restart my mining rig remotly when gpus crashes.
I've some issues going on with my mining rig, the GPU's crashes after 1 week.

I'm currently using 4x 580 8gb x gaming GPUS with EVGA GQ 1000Watt 80 PLUS Gold and i'm mining both eth + dcr
using these settings.

tt -30 -cclock 1120 -mclock 2100 -cvddc 920 -mvddc 875 -dcri 30
i've latest updates etc..

whenever my mining crash i get error message Application EthDcrMiner64. has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware. Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
and the fans goes very fast/high and i cannot access the computer from teamviewer, so what I need to do is to manually restart it.

Is there a way I can autorestart my mining rig whenever it happens and im not at home?

Thanks!

At my work we use these little boards that can short the psu wire that turns the PSU on/Off. But you could easily work something up with a relay control board. I've thought about using a python program that could control the relay and is controlled by another system,  maybe a rasp berry pi. It would ping the miner, say every 5 minutes and if it was hung it would cycle power to the PSU and start the system. But I just havnt gotten around to building it.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which is the real limit of unpowered risers ? on: January 09, 2018, 07:02:21 AM
I read from different posts the limit is 4, if you put more the motherboard cannot supply enough energy.

But I read also about rigs having 6 without issues for years.

Is that why i am asking which is the real limit ?

I am asking because I wish to make a new rig with both powered and unpowered risers but I need to know how much unpowered can be use safely?

It would depend on your mobo and GPUs. If your going to setup a rig, just get powered risers and be done with it. And I have run 2 GPUs on empowered risers no problem .
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The 5.6 GH ETH Man Mining Shed! Phase 2 in Progress! Building the Ant-muffler! on: January 09, 2018, 04:06:14 AM
sweet jesus! how fast is your internet, and who's your provider?

also, where did you get the money for this, and how much was it?

You don't need fast internet for mining - I had a 3mb Time Warner line doing 10 1080 TI rigs with no latency issues at all. Now remoting into them... that's was a different issue

You cant do much with somones IP address, except DDOS them. But while you are at it can I have your address, when you are not home, and can you make your dog like me..
