I've never seen a single satoshi from http://bitcoin-jackpot.herokuapp.com. My personal assumption is that it is a scam or was just ineptly built.

The system you described seems like a solid evolution of the multipool concept, Eleuthria. I would have been happy with the Doge and LTC-only implementation, but this sounds like the best of all worlds.

And, FWIW, I'm happy accepting the variance on LTC considering the massively disproportionate value of LTC when we do hit.

The LTC issue is just a matter of not solving blocks. Our pool speed is pretty small compared to the LTC network. Variance there will be high.

Yeah, I didn't go to sleep as early as I wanted to last night because I wanted to see just how high that shift was going to end.  Nice to see a new high point on the charts.

That is a delight to see...

As one of the loudest voices accusing DPoS of pointlessly crying wolf, I wanted to publicly apologize for doing so.

Also, thanks to Eleuthria for doing the sleuthing to find the problem. I realize it's an ongoing issue and not necessarily settled, but I wanted to own up to being reactionary while the broader issue was still being discussed.

Hi shinkel, scroll up and you'll find several comments on the issue.

I am guessing it's an issue of hot wallets running dry, but that's a wild stab in the dark. If so, it should be corrected when Eleuthria is back in the land of the awake.

Not sure why we started paying so much attention to Lotto—spoke in value/lower difficulty?

DPoS, I appreciate that you are genuinely concerned about this, but variance happens.

If you have any evidence beyond the de facto luck of the pool, I'd personally be delighted to see it, but claiming to be the only guy who can see the conspiracy while the math nerds politely nod and smile...

I say this without malice, but it reminds me of the scores of (to a person, bad) poker players I've met over the years who talk about how dealers screw them, how winners are just lucky, how they usually win when they sit in their lucky seat, how they never win with pocket aces, and a gillion other things that all come down to the reality that variance happens.

They don't understand it, and so the game must be rigged.

That isn't even remotely a valid link  Cool
Just FYI.

Oops! Thanks. Smiley

Link corrected (and tested).

What type of hardware are you going to need to join this pool? Is there a minimum requirement of some sort?

I put together a guide to entry level mining gear. [Link corrected] Prices have gone down in the weeks since I published (I'm going to update it tomorrow), but these are still the entry-level devices available on the market. There's a coupon for two U.S. retailers, too.

I noticed and considered posting, but my superstitious side said "Don't! You'll jinx it."

It seems, BTW, that the new graphing format makes the trends look starker by reducing the number of spikes in either direction. That's an observation, not a complaint. Improved responsiveness for mobile users is a Good Thing™. I look forward to seeing a positive luck streak not dip below the neutral line, too. If we're lucky (badaboom!), it will be a multi-day 125% luck streak to balance out this stomach puncher we're enduring right now.

Edit: And yay for crossing the 9 PH/s mark. it's good to gain a little share back.

dimfot, Eleuthria has mentioned that he wants to start the move in mid-May. The list of coins will be pared to Doge and LTC.

Lost a good chunk of a petahash today?

You're taking this well, eestimees. it sucks that these creeps did this to you, but the brazenness of their attitude is extra disgusting.

Good luck cleaning it up.

I'm looking forward to autoswitching between just Doge and LTC. This is subjective, but they appear to be the only altcoins worth mining, and having just two coins reduces wallet complexity to a manageable level. I don't mind doing the conversions to BTC myself (or keeping the coins, for that matter) when it's just two coins worth my while.

It seems like the best of both worlds between dedicated mining and autoswitching.

In fact, Eleuthria, feel free to accelerate your schedule. Smiley

Would appreciate if people could spend 2 minutes providing feedback on the guides so I can improve them.

Done. And thanks for all of your guides. Smiley

To those asking about fans, I've gotten acceptable temperatures (44-49 degrees Celsius) with this configuration:

In place of the original fan, pushing air: Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition

In front, where there is no fan, pulling air: Scythe GentleTyphoon 120mm Silent Case Fan

I tried two of the Scythe fans because they are so quiet, but Dogie was right several weeks ago when he told me they wouldn't suffice. I wanted to try the Scythe Grand Flex in the rear, but they're a bit of a pain to get in the U.S. (and they're pricey). I tried the Corsair unit linked above, and got temps in the high (46-49 degrees, depending on ambient temperatures at a fraction of the noise. I got a second S1 a couple of days ago, and the same configuration runs that unit 2-3 degrees cooler (44-47 degrees).

Some helpful notes: I had to remove the middle screws on the blades (there are three screws holding each blade in place on either end) to make the Corsair fit. The Scythe fan didn't fit at all, so I got some foam rubber tape and formed an ugly gasket that lifted the fan blades above the screws. This required some X-acto knife trimming. I bet more experienced modders could have done a far better job than me. Smiley

I also had to get some different screws, as the screws that hold the default snow blower are way too long for either replacement fan. They're metric M4-.7 screws, and 35mm or 40mm screws should do it, but make sure you aren't butting them up against any components. Make sure you test fan blade clearance before plugging it in!

I used a 4-pin fan splitter similar to this one to connect the 3-pin Corsair and Scythe fans to the 4-pin connectors on the S1. This required filing down the connector on the splitter so that it would fit the tight 4-pin holder on the S1—they don't use the same configuration. Perhaps more experienced modders can shed light on that, but my hackneyed solution has worked for weeks.

Lastly, I am not convinced this fan combo could handle high ambient temperatures. If I let the room they're in get hot, the temps on the S1s spike to 50-52 degrees.

Your mileage could vary, and I have no idea what I'm doing. This has worked for me, but following any of my ideas could fry your S1.

Welcome to the Guild, TH+ folks. It's good to have you. Smiley

Hi Icon, thanks for the note. You may not have understood that the conversation was about luck, not declining BTC rewards corresponding with BTC Guild's smaller size relative to the network.

This recent run is pretty damned epic.
