Wow, boom, to add insult to injury, faucet payout was just lowered to 100-100 satoshis.  Bummer man why did you have to do this?

We had to make some changes to our faucet as we started noticing irregular activities - over the past 2 days we had over 80k faucet claims from ~100 unique players, so clearly bots have broken through the captcha, costing us over .5 BTC and you, the highest paying faucet. We're not giving up, we think we'll be bringing back the high paying faucet in an improved format some time next week. For now it pays 100-1000 satoshi once every 10 minutes, which is enough to enjoy or test out our game before getting more serious.

We are going to run a promo today still, stay alert..

71  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Member "insertcoolusername" on: December 30, 2013, 06:01:38 AM
how do people fall for this?  Shocked

I figured this guy would be a scammer, got a PM from him earlier asking for donations. Any new user that solicits donations for charity via PM is probably always scamming.

This is the most disgusting type of scam, makes me sick thinking about it.

People always want to believe in the good, hard to blame them for that.. He PM'd us too, here's how we went about it..

"It is very unfortunate for legitimate charities that there is so much charity related scam already on the forums.

You and your cause both sound legit to us, but unfortunately so did others that were later proven to be scams. This would be much easier if you were a well respected Hero Member with high trust ratings, but that, at least for now, doesn't seem to be the case. The best we can do is this- If a reputable member of the forum with positive trust score vouches for you, or if a few reputable members or companies we know donate to your charity, we will gladly follow suit."

We suggest taking a similar approach before donating. Also, we feel something needs to be done to bring about a standard process through which charities could be legitimised and vouched for by trusted members. It would go a long way for the community if we could redirect the coin towards real causes that otherwise might've gone to scammers (and the most despicable ones at that).

I think the time has come for BitcoinTalk to have a Charities section with one subsection entitled Charity Announcements, of which no bitcoin wallet address is submitted and is used solely as a vetting process. Not until the NPO passes muster by its peers, read us, fellow bitcoiners, does it get moved to the Charities section only by a mod/admin, upon only then a bitcoin wallet address can be added to the thread. This act should clean up the rest of this forum at least in this regard.

We can start by adding the following venerable causes to the hopefully new section:

Bitcoin 100
Sean's Outpost
My mega thread that feeds people
Dab's two main causes, based in the Philippines

Apologies for not adding any other ongoing noble causes above.

Somebody quote this post and start a thread in Meta for theymos' attention if you feel such course of action is warranted. PM me if such occurs.

Thanks, in advance.

~Bruno Kucinskas

Charities section would certainly add legitimacy to the idea that charities (especially newer ones) need to go through some sort of a process in order to be considered "legit". The problem the way we see it is that it's still unclear what process charities would have to go through to not discourage them on one hand, while making it near impossible for scammers to pass on the other. Before we go about opening new threads, let alone forum sections it might be a good idea to figure out a way to do it in a way that would solve the problem in a real way and not just promote some of the existing charities.

Is this poker site any good or legit?

Thanks for your question. You're probably hoping someone else might answer, and we hope the same actually. But... since we're here now we might as well throw in a thought or two of our own. So.. to answer your question, first of all it would depend on what you mean by 'poker site'. If you mean a poker room like 'pokerstars' we don't exactly fit the description. Whether we are actually any good or not might come out as a little biased coming from us. Since we must however endeavour to tilt your opinion towards the former here are some confirmable points for your consideration:

We pioneered 100% provably fair poker (as far as we know at least)
Deposits and cashouts are pretty much instant (1 confirmation)
Win or lose, Poker is a lot more fun to play than dice  Wink

Bottom line is, if you like our concept you're not likely to be disappointed.. Check us out at SatoshiAces.com, it's free to try (tap the faucet).

76  Economy / Gambling / Re: PrimeDice.com Gambling Story Win 1 BTC! Winners Chosen! | Faucet Thread on: December 27, 2013, 12:36:58 PM
Turnout was much lower than I expected, I think this post was buried for a while and was a bit too confusing. There were probably around 5-7 entries total.

I've decided to split the prize four ways. Will PM the winners now

Winners
Corleone     .25BTC
Nahtnam     .25BTC
Nil             .25BTC
Dragonstar  .25BTC

Hope everyone is enjoying their week, thanks to all who entered!  Smiley  If you did not win, don't worry there will be a lot more giveaways in 2014.

OMG! Thanks.

EDIT: I just wanted to add a little more to my story. I actually found bitcoin by playing video games. When I was around 10 I loved programming and the love continued to until I was 13. Then in my 13th year I started playing minecraft. At around 13.5 I found bitvegas and ever since then I have been playing on PD, and programming!

umm.. you're kidding right?

79  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FREE BITCOIN Sites *and* Free Newbie Lotto on: December 26, 2013, 08:10:27 AM
Hi, can you guys add SatoshiAces to your list. As far as we know we're the biggest gambling faucet out there at the moment paying 1000-2000 satoshi every minute..

But can you withdraw the Bitcoins without betting ?

Thank you for the question. You need to have at least .01 BTC to meet the minimum withdrawal requirement. You do get to try once a minute if you fail, so you won't have to wait long. Also you can always deposit your own BTC to withdraw whatever you won, even if it doesn't meet the minimum.

Here's a link to our thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=325535.0

"This faucet is available at zero-balance only"

 Undecided

Does that disqualify from the list?

Here's a post by a guy who was able to turn it into .015 BTC http://grindabit.com/index.php?topic=265.0..

One can't build up above the minimum withdrawal limit without gambling. Therefore the Bitcoin is not free.
The only gambling websites on the list are ones that give out free Bitcoin without any requirements to use it at their site to gamble.

Sorry to bother you again, but how exactly is our faucet different from a freeroll at Seals? Surely you can't win any BTC in a freeroll without actually playing any poker there...
