Thanks, yeah I'm carrying around the idea "in my head" but it's quite fully formed, will be formalizing it into a proposal soon!

I'm working on a visual prototype, not finished just looking for pointers on how to attract investments.

I'm using block erupters.  Really my goal is to have a self contained unit supporting the bitcoin network.  I'm thinking the best way to do that would be for me to run bitcoin-QT or some other client directly on the raspberry pi.  I've mentally shelved the idea for now after realizing I'd need to upgrade my SD card (current 4gb card can't hold the blockchain).  I still think it'd be great if somebody could come out with a self contained bitcoin support box (mining and node functionality in one low power unit).

Oh cool. Yeah, I think that your chances of success solo mining would be slim but I guess everything on the network has a *chance*. I'm interested in designing that type of hardware, a self contained mining unit with raspberry Pi, which can also run on solar power with a battery backup to mine at night. I'm a total noob when it comes to electrical stuff, so it's going to be a nice DIY learning project. I plan to start a thread to document the project when it starts.  Smiley

What type of miners? Are they block erupters? I plan on doing a similar setup to experiment with mining with solar power in the not too distant future!

They do pay off, but only a very small amount of bitcoins as was said.
I've been getting some luck from the site CoinAd.com. You have to watch webpages for a certain number of seconds and they'll save your bitcoins for you until you request a payout.

Hi Everyone!
This is my first post and I'm just hoping to meet some other bitcoiners.
I'm working on a project and I'm hoping it will be exciting and useful to a lot of people in the community, so any pointers you have will be most appreciated!
Some things I just wanted to ask off the bat, are there any Venture Capitalists that invest heavily in Bitcoin related services? Where on the forums could I go to get
pointers on website security and things such as keeping private keys safe? Also, approximately how long would it take to generate a six character vanity address to use for donations?

Thanks everyone hope to hear from you soon   Smiley

Regards,
BitQik

Yeah I've heard about that, seems like working on the concept of "shares" draws a lot of negative regulatory attention.
Are there any alternatives? Are there any sites where you can get funded with a kickstarter type pledge instead of selling stock?
Also, I'm not a member of bitfunder, but I'd suggest trying to log in and withdrawal. Keep us informed on what happens!
