This approach, listing up all transactions of large amount of merits, should be regarded as the first step, as it omits cases such as multiple transactions with e.g. 20 merits between the same users.  
It is also helpful to check users who send merits back and forth among particular closed users, which are most likely merit farmers.  
To detect such abuses, we need more careful investigations by taking into account not only sent merit amount but also user data.

Activityの枠の解放は14日間ごとと言いますが、登録した日から14日間の周期が始まるわけではなく、あらかじめ決められています。
その14日間の間に1回でも投稿すれば、14のActivityの枠が解放され、その期間内に14の投稿をしなかった場合でも、あとから投稿を増やせば14のActivityが加算されます。
今回のケースは登録してからの1週間の間に14日周期の境目があり、2つの期間の権利を獲得したケースです。

I had proposed my idea on improving the UI, which was implemented by other guy, and that post received many merits.
Of course I understand it was implemented by him/her, but my original idea deserves merits as well.

Thanks for your opinion, yes I wrote the minimum necessary times as I have seen many people ask about it.
The times are written in blue font, the same color as Activity, with which I was trying to imply that those times are minimum necessary time for Activity, but taking into your feedback I will reconsider its presentation.

I wanted to agree with you and to be optimistic about these transactions, but after checking some part of the 50 merited posts listed above, it seems to me that most of them are questionable ones, namely either of

1. would-be exchange between alt accounts
2. transaction at early stage of her/his sMerit history when s/he did not know how merits are rare / how many merits are reasonable to send for each good post
3. merit for very old posts e.g. by satoshi

As people get used to the system, I expect at least type 2 transaction should decrease.
 
To draw some lesson for good quality posts, it would be more helpful to look at posts received many merits but not too many, e.g. 20 or 25, which can be easily tractable from the data, as well as posts received small amount of merits from many users, which requires some work with the data to identify.
While they should still include the above three types, I presume their percentages are lower than those for 50 merited posts.

Since the table exhausts all the transactions with more than 40 Merits, it will be much easier to identify merit abuses.

I'll try to do something like that. However it seems knowing what board/sub-community every msg belongs to would require crawling the forum a lot.


For the moment I'll aggregate total merits sent from one user to another and direct exchange of merits between 2 users; and I'll do my best about finding small groups of users sending merits to each other.

In total 85524 sMerits have been sent, which is much smaller than 11975 sMerits created by 57 merit sources per month.
It seems that we need more merit sources.

By using the data, I created a histogram of the distribution of the number of users who sent 1-50 sMerits:

Clearly, 1 Merit is the most popular choice, but it is interesting to see that the histogram is not monotonically decreasing.
Top 10 amounts of sent merits are as follows:

On the other hand, no one sent 37, 46, 47 Merits, two of which are prime numbers, presumably implying that people un/consciously do not like big prime numbers and prefer good cut-off point.


In total 85524 sMerits have been sent.
This number is much larger than 11975 sMerits, which are currently created by 57 merit sources per month.
The sMerits created by 57 merit sources are not sufficient and most of used sMerits were initially assigned ones.
This fact suggests that we need more merit sources and/or more sMerits per source.


We see that there is a peak at the upper limit of 50 Merit, some of which may be abuse of merit.
For those who want to check them, I created a clickable table of all transactions more than 40 sMerits.

It's hard to tell as the image does not work but I assume you are asking why "+Merit" link does not show up.
It will show up once you obtain Merit and hence sMerit, and then you are ready to send sMerit.
With 0 sMerit, "+Merit" link does not show up, though the exception is the case where you obtain sMerits and run out of them, in which case "+Merit" link will remain regardless you have 0 sMerit.

While I have posted it in this thread in Meta, it would be also useful to share it here for Newbies.

You can find other infographics listed in the OP of Merit & new rank requirements

but I tried to make more graphical, intuitive, and reader-friendly infographic.

2018-06-02 ピン留めが可能となった現状、本スレッドのもともとの役割は終わったと考えていましたが、最近のNewbieの方の投稿と日本語板削除の可能性を鑑みて新たな役割の必要性を感じ、Newbieの方向けの情報をまとめて大幅更新しました。
2018-02-27 日本語ボードが独立してしばらく経ち、スレッドの数が増え、現在9ページに達しています。特にNewbieの方には、どのスレッドを見たらよいのかわかりにくい状況です。このスレッドではNewbieの方に役立つスレッドを中心にリンクをまとめました。ブックマークがわり、Newbieの方の誘導など、自由にお使いください。

Q. Bitcointalkはいろいろルールがあり投稿が削除されたりするそうですが、誰が管理しているのですか。

A. 全体の管理はtheymosがしています。それぞれの板にはモデレーターがおり、日本語板はAnon11073さんがモデレーターを務めています。

Q. どのような投稿が削除されるのですか。

A. 5ちゃんねるやAskMonaとは異なり、ランク上げのための無意味な投稿や荒らしは削除されます。「こんにちは」「情報ありがとうございます」だけで新しい情報・意見を含まない投稿や、リファラルリンクを含んだ投稿などは削除されます。Bitcointalkはいい意味でも悪い意味でも管理された掲示板ですので、その点を理解した上でルールを守ってご利用ください。

Q. ランク上げには投稿の数が必要と聞きました。「Newbieの人がひたすら書き込むスレ」に投稿してランク上げしたいのですが。

A. 現在のシステムでは、投稿の数だけではJr. Memberまでしかランクアップできません。また、Newbieスレッドは無意味な投稿が多過ぎるという点からtheymosによりロックされましたので、新規投稿できません。

Q. では他の既存のスレッドか、ランク上げ専用の新しいスレッドを立てて、そこにどんどん投稿をしてランク上げしたいのですが。

A. 内容が有益なものであればどのスレッドに投稿してもらっても構いません。歓迎します。

しかしランク上げだけを目的として、既存のスレッドに無意味な投稿をする、あるいはランク上げ専用のスレッドを立てて無意味な投稿を繰り返す、ということは、やめてください。モデレーターの負担を増やすだけでなく、あなたにとっても以下の理由から不利益なことです。

(1) そのような投稿やスレッドは削除されるだけでなく、あなたがルールを破る要注意人物であることを周知するものです。ignoreリストに入れられて返信やMeritがもらえなくなる、negative trustを付けられてBountyに参加できなくなる、ルールを再三破る場合は最終的にBANされる、といった可能性があります。

(2) 仮に無意味な投稿が削除を免れたとしても、投稿数だけではランクは上がりません。2018年1月に導入されたMerit制により、Member以上へのランクアップにはMeritが必要となりました。Meritは客観的に見て質の高い投稿に対して、他のユーザーから送ってもらうことで増えます。中身のない投稿だけではランクアップできない仕組みになっています。

(3) 日本語板が無意味な投稿で溢れかえった場合、日本語板自体が削除される可能性があります。以下はtheymosの日本語板に対する意見の和訳です。

Q. Merit制が導入されるより前にActivityだけで高ランクになったユーザーと比べて不公平ではないですか？
英語ができないのですが日本語板内でランクを上げるのは実質不可能ではないですか？

A. Bitcointalkはいい意味でも悪い意味でも管理された掲示板であり、ルールのおかげで、先見性、技術面、英語、法律など、それぞれの得意分野を活かした質の高い情報交換がなされていることも事実です。ルールに納得できる方のみご利用ください。フォーラムやルールに関するご要望は日本語板ではなくMeta( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0 )にスレッドを立てることで運営に直接伝えることができます。ルールが合わない方は、5ちゃんねる、AskMona、Twitter、Bountyhive、AirdropAlertなどをおすすめします。

Q. 9/17のランクアップ規約変更によりJr. MemberからNewbieに降格しました。もうMeritなしではバウンティキャンペーンに参加したり、画像を埋め込んだトークンの宣伝を投稿することはできないのでしょうか？

A. 少額の手数料を支払うことで得られるCopper MembershipはNewbieであっても画像を埋め込んだりsignatureをつけることができます。
Copper Membership権限によるsignatureを認めるか否かは各バウンティキャンペーンにより異なりますので、まずは参加したいバウンティの規約を確認されるとよいでしょう。

公式アナウンスは以下の通りです。

これにより現在のランクがNewbieであったとしても以下が可能となります。

- 投稿に画像を埋め込む
- 投稿と投稿の間の待ち時間を削減
- Sigantureなどの一部の機能がMemberランクと同様のレベルまで解放される

なお運営側からの注意事項は以下の通りです。

- Copper Membershipを持っていたとしても、ルールを破ればBANされます。
- 運営はCopper Membershipの規約を予告なく変更およびCopper Membership自体を削除する権利を持ちます。
- 支払い後の返金は行いません。

支払い方法は以下をご覧ください。

1. こちらのリンク先に表示されるアドレスに0.00208333 BTC（手数料別）を支払う（個々のアカウントに対して固有のアドレスなので、送金した時点で自動的にどのアカウントからの送金か区別される）
2. 送金に1 confirmationがついた後に再度上記リンクをクリックすると新しくフォームが現れるのでアカウントにCopper Membershipを設定する

なお、BTCがfiatに対して値上がりすればそれに伴ってCopper MembershipのBTCの額は値下げされる予定だそうです。
ただし、値動きに応じて金額が自動調整されるわけではなく、あくまで手動で変更されるようです。
