461  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mistake that prevented your big win. on: September 17, 2023, 07:06:32 AM
At the time gamblers do not realize what is happening, they are so blinded by their greed that they are not thinking clearly, it is only after the fact when they begin to think about what they did, but by then it is too late to do something about it, it is at that time when they will be the most disillusioned about themselves and it is possible they may even accuse the casino of scamming them, but despite those accusations they know very well they are the only party responsible for their loss.

You got it blindly because of greed. I remember that a gambler doesn't know that they got a huge loan, and they realize it when they are already done playing which will shock them. It is some sort of you are not on themselves taking those loans and just wanting to win back their losses.

This is really scary when you can't control yourself because you'll be taking a ton of loans that even you can't pay off, or if you can you'll struggle a lot.
Addicts are the one who are doing crazy things just to continue gambling even if they know that they can't anymore because of their financial status. I believe that there are gamblers who are taking huge loans to gamble, I don't know anyone doing it but I think there's someone who had did it. I'm sure that there are people who got desperate from losing in a casino and pawn their assets just to make a comeback, as you see it's mostly a movie references but I think it's happening in real life. They are intoxicated with their addiction and doesn't think straight.

There's few good stories about taking so much risk just like FedEx founder who got desperate and gamble the last money of the company. It was a happy ending story but it carry so much risk that can lead to bankruptcy if the founder was somehow unlucky enough to lose.
462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ads for online gambling should be banned. on: September 17, 2023, 06:33:28 AM
-snip
The advertisements won't appear on their smartphones, but the ads can appear on their friend's smartphones when hanging out. It will make them want to know more about the site, and sooner or later, they will try gambling. The curiosity of today's teenagers is greater than that of teenagers in previous years, so parents need to be closer to their children so they can provide understanding.
well, if the situation has changed, unlike what I said before, there are other ways, after blocking gambling advertisements or any effort to prevent advertisements from entering your smartphone, there are other ways to prevent young people from gambling just because of their high curiosity when seeing gambling advertisements friend smartphone.
so its like this, if the efforts I mentioned can not prevent all of this, parents must have an approach to their children to provide knowledge regarding any dangers related to accessing gambling so that slowly as parents they will provide knowledge that indoctrinates their children thinking to be afraid of accessing gambling and will not carry out any gambling activity after being given knowledge of the dangers of being addicted to gambling. so this method will be more appropriate for those of us who have concerns as parents about preventing our children from gambling.
It's better given that gambling can be influence from other people aside from advertisement from the internet. The root problem is gambling so yes, I think it's better to tell the child or teens about the negative effect of gambling just like how we tell them about not using drugs or some addictive substance like cigarettes. Advertisement nowadays is harder to control, imagine those free to use application on our mobile phone has an ads to access other features of it. So no matter how much we block advertisement, the maximum effect we can only do is to minimize it and not removing it entirely on other people phone.
463  Local / Pilipinas / Re: High-Level Resignation sa Binance on: September 16, 2023, 09:25:38 PM
Surprise surprise!

https://cointelegraph.com/news/binance-us-not-cooperating-sec-investigation

Rolling story parin ito at I wonder if ano magiging effect nito sa market. Though medyo matatagal pa naman bago maging successful ang SEC sa allegations nila sa sa Binance given na sobrang tagal ng case nila vs sa XRP na ilang taon na at on going parin hangang ngayon.
464  Economy / Economics / Re: If the global economy collapses what's the first thing you do? on: September 16, 2023, 08:32:29 PM
It's certainly an advantage if you already have bitcoin in your wallet. But it would be a lot better if you also have other investments aside from crypto. If I've sufficient funds to invest, I would never settle in a single investment but as much as I can, I will also establish business in the different market industry. That way, if ever one investment fails, the rest might still be generating a decent amount of income.

Bitcoin is a secured and profitable investment. But seeing its high volatility, we should never invest in it all in but only invest in the amount we can afford to lose.

When the global economy collapses, I believe that it will also have an impact on the crypto market. However, we must always be prepared for the possibilities. I agree that it is important that we have other forms of investment aside from cryptocurrency specifically, Bitcoin. Yes, it is profitable but we should always have a backup. We better have other investments and sources of savings as a preparation for the future because we all know that even the economic situation affects the crypto market.
Of course there would be an impact but I'm guessing that it will be on the positive side given that people will find something that they can put their money on and I think cryptocurrency is one of them. I'm not an economist, what assets would be the go to of investors if the global economy collapses aside from cryptocurrency? It is always nice to diversify and it is better to have an investment now that will not affect us incase there's some kind of disaster like global collapse or a war happen.
465  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: September 16, 2023, 08:00:48 PM
It's known that we are having a global inflation and food prices really got so high. It's a bad thing for majority of people especially for those who are in the lower class who are just trying to survive. My food monthly budget increased by 50% from last year which is I think a very fast price jump. Everything in my country became expensive which affects my crypto accumulation given that it affected my budget to be used in accumulating. I'm aware of the global inflation but it worsen because of the obvious government corruption in my country. Life is hard nowadays, we need to have extra source of income to sustain our normal lives.
466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can money be saved in gambling sites? on: September 16, 2023, 03:11:46 PM
We only need to send the amount of money we can afford to gamble and will not use all the money that day.
It would be very careless if we spent the money we have on gambling all at once or spent it on just one game. And I have a friend who is very careless when gambling, where when he gets some money he will gamble and what is even more stupid is that he ignores his needs and obligations and prioritizes his gambling because he has a mindset like that when he wins big, then all his needs and obligations will fulfilled. and I don't want to experience the same thing as my friend experienced, so I always try and look for ways to regulate the gambling that I do.
Always remember to have a budget to our gambling activities, deposit the amount of money that are allocated to gambling. It's quite boring to spend it all in just one game, I think it's for a single gambling session.

Basically your friend is probably an addict with a very wrong mindset. Somehow a mindset that rely on the risk and more on luck. I wonder how your friend live his daily life if he have a mindset like that. I'm sure that the mindset he have will keep repeating until he is tired with it or realize that he is doing a bad habit of pursuing his gambling journey.
467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you manage your money on gambling sites. on: September 16, 2023, 02:49:41 PM
I've been following a few gambling channels on Twitter and Telegram, and whenever they share a screenshot of a bet slip or winning ticket, they occasionally also include the balance of their wallet. I've seen this happen several times, which made me wonder why they don't choose to withdraw their winnings instead of storing them in their gambling site wallet. Why do they leave that much in there, or is it simply for show off? A gambling expert should know better than to save their money on casino websites.

I always withdraw all my winnings and only deposit the right amount i want to use to gamble whenever i want to play a game. I’d like to know everyone’s opinion on which way is better and which one do you practice in managing your funds on gambling sites.
Obviously it's for showing off and flexing how big their win on that casino. I don't think storing money on a online casino is a good thing to do given that you don't have a full control of your money and there's a chance that something bad can happen like casino obstructing you from withdrawing and being hacked. Another way to be a hackers target is to flex your casino funds and revealing the casino you are playing on. I believe that it's a good practice to not leave any money on casinos or any platforms like exchange especially for a long time.
468  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be a boom again? on: September 15, 2023, 09:38:32 PM
There's no assurance but most of us here are speculating for another bitcoin bull run 1-2 years from now. If you are struggling with your daily expenses in Canada and you are serious about investing into bitcoin, I suggest to do a dollar cost strategy. We all have regrets on not buying bitcoin on it's lowest, I suggest to just move on and accumulate as much as possible since we can't bring back time. We can only use the past as a reference to the investment we can make today. I'm positive in investing on bitcoin personally but don't expect profit that bitcoiners made from the past.
469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Referral bonuses are waste of time on: September 15, 2023, 08:52:52 PM
The influencer is always safe once a casino will choose that influencer then that influencer will be secured as we are all know that once they are chosen then a lot of money will come to the influencer and to the casino. Cause the social media influencer make a video that will involve the casino and the viewer out of curiosity they will open the link and then once they will amaze the offer of that casino then they will go for their deposit. So another income from the influencer and the casino.
An influencer can without a doubt make a lot of money thanks to the high viewership their channel may have, however even if the income can be high at the beginning it is going to be difficult for influencers to keep it that way for a long time, and this is because unless they gain more loyal followers, at someone point every single one of them would have watched their videos promoting a casino and the majority of them will just gamble occasionally, while the few whales they happened to attract would have either lost their money already or they could change casinos and from that moment on the influencer will not receive any referral commission out of them anymore.
This is why influencers doesn't really stick to a single casino. Casino provide sponsorships to the influencers and at the same time a referral code that the influencer can make extra money on aside from the sponsorship payment. Sponsorships most likely has a contract and when those contract expire, influencers would expectedly stop the promotion as well as the usage of the casino. Influencer can promote multiple casino as I've seen some promoting multiple casino but yes it depends on the agreed contract. With the wide reach of influencers, casinos are just hoping to get some percentage of those followers and hope that referred gamblers would stick to their casino.
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you feeling the old professional bounty managers? on: September 15, 2023, 08:09:22 PM
Personally they are here but they don't bring bounty now. What do you think could be the main reason for this? There were many higher rank managers who gifted us bounties for good projects in the past but now they are retired. What have they removed from the bounty due to the bad situation in the crypto market?
Most likely yes. There's not much reward compared on bounty campaigns before. Aside from there's not much reward or worthy payment from the bounty campaigns is there is significant increase on abusers. I know this because I myself managed some bounty campaigns before and the reason that I stop managing bounty campaigns is I think it's not worth it checking all of the participants that are literally multi accounting and participants sometimes go beyond 500+ which is tiring to check given that you will check social media posts one by one and the payment isn't really that high compared to the effort given.
471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be watchful it's not yet time on: September 14, 2023, 08:04:17 PM
You are right, the bull run has not started yet. I thought 1 month ago that the bull run has already started but then I was wrong. I understand after reading the posts of some senior brothers, it is not a bull run. But now I see almost all coins are damping the price a lot. I hope the bull market will start within 2-3 months. I want to invest some amount from my fund in different coins and hold.

Usually bull runs start after the halving, and we have time till our next halving. It will not start in 2-3 months, not even in Q1 2024, because the next halving will be on April 26, 2024. There are some other factors too that initiate a bull run, so it is hard to say the exact time, but it usually occurs 3–4 months after halving.

That is correct, the catalyst for a bull run is the halving, and if I'm not mistaken, the schedule is around late March or early April. So there's a lot of leg room still for us to continue to fill our bags with the coins that we think that can give us good profits in 2024-2025.

So I do like what the OP says here, it's not time and we don't want to swim in the idea that we are in the bull run when obviously, the price is till very low and majority of the altcoins are still in the -90% from it's all time high.
From my experience, buying some coins today would be a good move knowing that coins are cheap since we are still in the bull market. I personally filling my portfolio now with coins that I like and of course I anticipated that I will make a profit in the upcoming years. I missed my chance from the past bull market and now I don't want for it to happen again, there's still plenty of time to buy coins in the market. I believe that buying before and after the halving will generate us profit from altcoins but the difference is the amount of potential profit. The lower we can buy is the higher we can maximize our profit.
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keeping or recovering seed phrases during or after a natural disaster. on: September 14, 2023, 07:08:34 PM
Backing it up would be the solution. I have a multiple backup of my seed phrase that only I myself know. Storing it in different location is a necessary thing to do. One example on where you can store it is on a safe, accessible and has a person that currently guarding the place like your parents house. It is a way to have a back up seed phrase incase a natural disaster happen in the place where you store your seed phrase.

We also need to get ready in case there's another disaster like being a victim of an accident or being diseased. Putting instructions on how to use your wallet on your safe place would be ideal. I personally store this kind of instruction on places that can be retrieved if I'm not in this world anymore. Putting extra security like hiding your seed phrase somewhere separate in the house and giving clue to the instructions on how to find it would be fun, it's like a hide and seek.
473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 14, 2023, 06:22:59 PM
I own a half dozen Mac minis > I used to mod the older stye ones until apple locked them down and I got into bitcoin instead.

I never owned and most likely never will buy an iPhone.

I use mid grade Samsung phones they are essentially all I will ever need in a smart phone.

If I were to waste money on an expensive piece of gear from apple it would be a Mac Studio which I will most likely never need..

Cell phone have shown their hand with battery lockdown ill replaceable batteries mean it is disposable gear.

I really wish people would boycott iPhones and buy Samsungs for 1/3 the cost.
I guess it depends on the user. I owned an iPhone and currently using other apple products. I'm currently using a 3 year old iPhone which run fine and other apple gadgets that I "help" me to do my daily work load.

I'm a past android user, but after using iPhone, I adapted the ecosystem of Apple. I can't feel the satisfaction of using an android phone as my main device but yeah, Apple products are overpriced. In my own perspective, it is disposable just like other phones in the market that downgrade after couple of years given that all of it has a chipset that can't be replaced. I bought my first brand new iPhone way back in 2017 and now it's barely functioning, the thing is I sold my bitcoin to buy that and seeing how the current bitcoin price is, there's some kind of regret on selling my bitcoin for an iPhone.

I would never sell my bitcoin again for the sake of buying a latest generation iPhone.
474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will you feel if it happens to you just like this? on: September 14, 2023, 05:38:47 PM
These places that let you bet and gamble count on that little voice that says, "Just one more time!" People and luck are not always friendly with each other. Like when you find a great treat and think, "Maybe just one more bite!" even though you're full. You ate the whole cake, bam!

As you said, quitting while you're ahead is the smart thing to do. When you reach your goal, take a moment to relax and look around. Getting better at self-control is more important than the money. Like a diet, you dont have to completely avoid cake, but maybe dont eat it all at once?
Yes, that will happen; many gamblers have often had experiences like that. They thought playing one more round would be okay, so they continued gambling for another round. But the reality is not what they think because, with one round, they often end up losing. And many of them in that last round use rather large bets, hoping they can take home more money. But instead of winning, they lose a large amount of money that they have used so that the previous winning money will not be the same as before because it was used to bet the last time.

Stopping gambling at the right time must be done and these gamblers must really pay attention to this to avoid losing again while they have already won. But we know that this greed will keep coming to them to want to continue gambling and keep whispering in their ears to play one last round. Only wise gamblers can really stop gambling because they will not think about winning again after winning previously.
I'm guilty with this kind of habit. There are times that I'm doing this kind of behavior but I don't come to the point that I end up losing given that I stop my gambling activity when I hit my break even point. There's some kind of control in me but yeah, it's a bad habit. This kind of mistake is due to thinking that if ever my last round win, it will serve as the withdrawal fee so I can take home all of my actual winnings. There are times that I stick with the one last round but yeah, sometimes greediness happens and I end up doing more gambles than I should be.
475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: He Committed Suicide After Losing School fees, And That Of Friend To Betting.. on: September 14, 2023, 05:15:45 PM

But at least it's a reminding for us everyone, that even though we might be addicted and we think that it could be the end of it all, we shouldn't take our lives for it.  It's really difficult for a kid and maybe he thinks that this is the only way out  Cry
Debts can still be paid by working and asking for time to pay the debt, why have to end it all and kill yourself so that the problem is solved, I'm also sure that the debt will never be finished, it could be that the family bears the debt, so why have to end your life just because of debt where we can actually settle the debt within a certain period of time.

I've seen successful businessmen have big debts before but he was able to continue living to pay his debts in installments until now he has become a successful businessman, we don't know what our future will be like, so why should we risk it and end our lives just because of debt, but You are right that this should also be a reminder that never gamble and cross the line because if you are addicted it is quite difficult to stop and you will definitely often be in debt.
The difference is the mindset that we have and how positive we see our life. I'm sure that the student was pressured about the debt, I mean self pressured and has no face to show to his parents knowing that it is a shameful act to use tuition fee funds as a funds on gambling. It's true that the debt can be paid slowly by working but I understand that if you are on the shoes of the student, it's hard to see a glimpse of recovery. If ever his friends or other people came to his side to comfort and motivate him, we probably won't discussing this story. The thing is the student didn't try to find a solution to the problem, he straight up take his life like there's no options left for him. It's hard but it's harder to chew because this is all because of gambling addiction.
476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: September 13, 2023, 09:33:11 PM
You made a really useful point when you said that when we lose to the casino, we should try to recover the money but not through gambling, because trying to recover the money back through gambling most of the time leads to more loses, just rephrasing for better understanding since your post wasn't clear enough..

Anyways, that's very true and I completely agree,  but then, this can only apply to those who have other means through which they make money , which is a reason why I have always advised people to not depend on gambling for income, gambling should always be for fun and even if we are playing for the money, it should be occasional, not always.
This is a nice idea, however I have always felt that the money you dedicate to your gambling habit is money that we should be able to spend as we wish without having any desire to get it back, as if that is not the case then we cannot say that was spare money and we should not be gambling with it in the first place, and instead we should use it in such a way that it generates additional profits for us, with investing in bitcoin being at the forefront of the options we must consider due to the incredible profits we can get with it.
I guess it depends on how you budget your funds. I personally have a separate budget for my gambling activities so that I can limit my spending power and of course to not overspend given that the spare money I have that can be use to anything may dry out quickly if I use it as my gambling funds. In fact, my spare money is bigger than my gambling funds. This way I can still spend my extra money or save it rather than gamble it and might have the possibility to over spend. All of the gambling funds I earn just rotates to my gambling funds that's why my monthly spare money is becoming bigger and bigger. It's effective to me.
477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Still not a safe practice even if it works on: September 13, 2023, 08:28:59 PM
Gambling is banned in my country but actually I am an addicted gambler so online gambling is my addiction which helps me to play in privacy. Moreover, many casino sites do not accept vpn, so if you use vpn there, your account may be closed. There is no compulsion to gamble so it is your personal freedom.
Is it a good thing for you that they don't accept VPN? I think if you're really addicted and VPN isn't really helping you to play, that's likely a blessing in disguise for you to mitigate that addiction of yours. Well, yes that's true there's no compulsion in it but if you're addicted it's yourself that's being compulsive in the first place and that's not a good thing.
It depends on how he see it. It's a blessing in disguise if gambling affects you negatively heavily and somehow planning to quit gambling but for people who just became an addicted to gambling, it's a hassle for them to find casino that they know they can play without worrying the possible problem of using VPN and the country ban.

Just like you I think it's a good thing that VPN is not allowed to some well known casino to reduce or to eliminate the possible effects of gambling addiction but it all boils down to the addicted gambler. An addicted person will find a way to continue their vices even if it mean to gamble on a physical casino that operates illegally.
478  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 13, 2023, 07:36:41 PM
We live in a society where people have different views about something and these views could be drawn based on different constituent like personal sentiment, religion, ideology and experience. And speaking of gamble there are those that view it as an irresponsible activity to embark on and whoever is into it is tag as irresponsible guy, for some it beyond being irresponsible but a sin something that is evil,  while some others out of an ugly experience of a loved one that got ruined by it due to extreme addiction.

These factors has made a number of gamblers to keep their gambling habit a secret doing all they could not to let friends and family  know they gamble. And it does seem like they ain't proud of what they're doing.

But why continue in what you're not proud of by keeping it secret cause maybe you're worried about what people may say, how their thoughts about your person might change. Or how you might loose ties with someone you hold dear to. And many other reasons that follows.

Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.

For countries that have laws that made gambling legal, it has some speculative age bracket given to it before you can start gambling. It is believed that at that age, your kind of reasoning should be matured, because for any decision you take, it's believe your well informed.
People's opinions will only be secondary. As a gambler, I'm conscious of myself, I discuss my gambling activities to my cycle of friends and I don't see anyone admonishing me, because I play responsible.
@Spaceman1000$, you are right. In some countries, that is how it is done, not only in terms of gambling, but for other things like investment plans and all the rest, although even on all gambling platforms it is said that only at the age of 18+ is allowed to gamble, but nowadays, we can see children of 16 to 17 years in an offline gambling center betting games and the saddest thing there is that even the director or the cashier of the casino center don't tell the under aged child to go away from the gambling center just because they want more money and more customers, although even if the children that are not yet up to the age of gambling were not allowed to gamble in an offline casino they can still go home and gamble it online because they are Little addicted to it
Yep, things like that really happen on physical casinos. Casinos that have a loose laws or operates illegally are the one who are not really strict with age laws given that they are not abiding the law in the first place. Casino owners want to have more and more traffic in their casino as much as possible as they can get their money from the gamblers. It's not ethically right but there are casino who are desperate or greedy on money the can get. Of course, underage has the option to do gambling but there are bunch of risks that they will face (if the know about it) which is most likely a KYC.
479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How late is too late to place a bet for a gambler? on: September 13, 2023, 07:10:53 PM
Did that last minute bet make you win or you lost more and regretted the decision?
Absolutely.
Lat minute bets are always unplanned, lacking the accurate and correct analysis plus it is all about adrenaline rush. It is even at the point this you may go as far as loaning money because you think that you finally got it and you will win. You end up losing. They have said if you fail to plan, you have already planned to fail. In sports betting, it is applicable too.
I have an experience of rush bets and unplanned bets, more like on sports betting. This occurs me when I'm still an addict, after seeing a hype match up in social media before, I'm checking the social media comments and see what's about for this fight and seeing the "analyst comments" on comment section. After being convinced, I would straight rush into a sports betting site and would bet on the team/fighter that is on favor based on the comment section. It's a bad way to to bets but it happened that there I am winning some of the bets, not entirely all bets were on the losing side but after checking my stats and average winning, it's clear that I'm on a lose by relying on this lazy rush way of betting.
480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much Bitcoin is needed to buy iPhone 15? on: September 13, 2023, 06:30:41 PM
I remember the day when I sold my bitcoin just to buy a newly release iPhone 7 plus. It's a bad decision especially when I'm seeing the price list you had list in the OP. Today, my iPhone 7+ is barely hanging without updates coming from apple since it's not supported anymore. Today, where iPhone 15 is release, I know that it isn't worthy selling bitcoin just to buy the current flagship apple product knowing that it depreciate quite fast and the bitcoin bull market that we are anticipating is coming. I would probably stick to my old phone and wait till I profit to buy a new phone I guess.
