401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 16, 2014, 03:42:30 AM
I'm getting around 5-7% rejects or so on the main server - what are you getting?

My rejects are high than others probably because it goes Rig --> switch --> EOP --> switch --> modem, which unfortunately adds a bit of latency

As for the lower reported hash rate, how do your Worker Units compare to your reported hashrate?

My Accepted + Rejected is within 2% of what is should be, so unfortunately I can't help you much there.

You could always create another address and point your rig(s) to that instead and see what happens.
402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 16, 2014, 03:21:52 AM
Hey all. I've been on this pool a long time, haven't compared numbers in quite a while.

However the recent "let's talk about payout" caught my interest, as people reporting .01/mh or even .015/mh are way outperforming me. Like, up to 2x, that is considerable and a little worrying. I'm averaging something like 0.0075/mh.

So I poked around a little.

Here's two different users, for example:

This guy, let's call him Bob, has a steady 19 mh/s or so, and has been around since Dec 16th-
http://www.middlecoin.com/reports/1ACruk5rrJmGTkP7UyyoqGDLNZTHzkqviY.html

And this dude, Let's call him Frank, has slightly less, maybe 18 average, and just started mining on the 7th-
http://www.middlecoin.com/reports/1FxziX77LiZLZxhdXMWREMQVMyjbDmCubw.html

So these are roughly comparable hashrates, with comparable reject ratios, but Frank (the newer, slower miner) is absolutely trouncing Bob on the payouts.

WTF is going on here?
(And yes, I know all the usual explanations, but I don't think any of them actually apply to this specific example)

Bob has a lot more rejected shares
Yes, however, the rejected shares shouldn't matter that much, as "Bob" still had a consistently higher accepted hashrate, yet was making less.

My payout tonight was very very close to 0.01 BTC per MH/s, which puts me in line with "bob"

I've also been around a while, and I'm on the main server, not one of the newer "beta" ones

I think the best explanation is the one already proposed - the smaller servers can more effectively "coin hop" for increased profitability while the older "main" server can pretty much only do LTC, DOGE, and a few others

Of course, others will say that H2O starts siphoning payout for himself after you've been around a while :-P

In order to test the server theory, you should switch all miners to a different address for a day (on same server), then add up the total made in 24 hrs (exchanged + unexchanged + immature) and compare it to what another person (who has been on the server for a while) with a very similar hashrate / rejects made during that same 24 hr period (remember to check the difference in the unexchanged balance as well as the payout)

As long as there's no "leeching" going on, the payouts should be identical...

Now take your miners and point them at one of the beta servers for 24 hours and again record what you made... compare this to the payout of the equal hashpower address and see if they still match.

403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 15, 2014, 06:01:37 AM
Can anyone explain to me why I put about 4.2-4.5Mh/s, but middlecoin is only showing 3.5-3.6Mh/s? It's been running for a couple hours now :\

You could have high reject rates...
Or... hit F5 to refresh browser after you open all user stats.
Or... click on your payout link if you have been paid at least once already.

Also, it sounds stupid, however, make sure all your cards are actually hashing / getting accepted shares.

Sometimes a configuration will appear to hash / won't crash the system, however, if your Worker Units are significantly less than your reported hash rate, then you probably aren't running with proper settings.

On an even dumber note, I had a single card overheat earlier and it took a while to catch it, as the rigs are headless. Once I modified some thermal parameters and restarted, my hashrate went back up.
404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 15, 2014, 05:54:08 AM
H2O, do you think you could split up the User Stats page into 2 or 3 sub-pages based on hashing power?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes browse the site occasionally on a tablet or phone, and they get really bogged down with that huge table.

If you broke it into something like > 5 MH/s then 0.01 - 5 MH/s then not currently mining, that would help load times a great deal.

It would also reduce server load on your end, as the whole table wouldn't constantly have to load :]
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 13, 2014, 04:14:40 AM
To all those worried about the payouts... Once I add up my additional unexchanged along with what I'll already be paid, it looks like the value per MH/s will be just under 0.01BTC

Sure, it's not the profitability we had back in the middle of December, however, it's still something. Remember, if you hold your BTC and the value increases in the future, that 0.01 BTC you made may be a lot more than $8.30

That said, many of us are watching the performance closely, and I'm quite tempted once TradeMyBit implements Auto-BTC to do a 2 week or so 7.5MH/s vs 7.5MH/s comparison.
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Rig Profitability on: January 11, 2014, 05:11:27 AM
Unless you plan on doing other stuff with the system, I would go with a much cheaper MB and CPU... Even your PSU price is too high :]

Go with an AMD 145 CPU, a MB that costs no more than $100 (yet has enough PCI slots), and maybe $230 for the PSU (EVGA G2 1300's or Rosewill 1300's are around that price)

If you are comfortable with Linux, a mining distribution (like BAMT) is free, other than the cost of a 4GB or larger USB Drive

Riser cables can be purchased for $10 to $20 a piece depending on if you want powered or unpowered... 1x or 16x

Of course, if you also want to game / use the system as a "normal" computer then a lot of this doesn't apply... otherwise it's all about getting the cheapest parts that still work reliably (other than the high-end GPU's of course)

As for profitability, that's something that is much harder to predict. A few weeks ago a "normal" rig of 2.5 MH/s or so was making >$50... a few weeks before that you were lucky to make $12 a day... I think $15-20 (not including power costs) is perfectly reasonable, however, I say that with not much confidence Tongue
407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Capacitor on Graphics Card Exploded on Startup on: January 11, 2014, 05:06:12 AM
After I posted this I researched a bit more and found a similar thread 3 pages long that details caps on these cards blowing.

What happens is the rig shuts down unexpectedly, you try to reboot, however, nothing happens, so you turn off the PSU, turn it back on... and boom!!!! Right?

What PSU are you using?

The two rigs that experienced this for me were running EVGA G2 1300's, which are under recall for an overheat/shutoff problem. This is what makes troubleshooting for me so difficult... hard to tell if it was the PSU (with known problem) or something on the card (perhaps VRAM overheating and blowing a ripple cap upon startup)

At this point I had to RMA 2 motherboards (one physically exploded haha, the other just doesn't POST), and I'm getting the 2 EVGA G2 1300's replaced too. I have a smaller 600W supply, plus a Dell MB with 1 16x slot. Tomorrow I plan to test the cards one at a time with CGminer for an hour or so to ensure none are damaged (other than the one missing a cap). I have another WF3 still running fine for the past week or so without a cap... I'll probably RMA both of those too eventually...

By next week I have a new MB/PSU/CPU/RAM/USB coming to put the (hopefully) good cards in... I'm not taking any chances as I want a rig that runs, not more dead junk to RMA

What also makes troubleshooting so difficult is you make a mistake (with one unknown bad component) and you're left with a dead MB / who knows what else damaged. I'm used to the worst thing that happens is you freeze the system/crash the drivers and need to reboot.
408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: r9 290 and r9 280x in one machine on: January 09, 2014, 04:35:15 AM
Yup, just be sure to specify different clock speeds / thread counts in your launch .BAT file. The cards can be picky... my XFX 290's only like 947 core 1250 mem, while my 280x's will do 1125 and 1500 easy
409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Capacitor on Graphics Card Exploded on Startup on: January 08, 2014, 07:30:17 PM
Today I woke up with one of my rigs with 2 7950's and 2 7970's (had been running fine for two months or so) off (I noticed a drop in hash power overnight)

I quickly checked around for any burnt cables or connectors and didn't see any, so I pressed the power button and nothing happened.. I then shut the PSU (EVGA G2 1300W) off, waited for any caps to drain, then switched it back on and tried to boot.

The Gigabyte WF3 2.0 7950 I had my monitor plugged into (in the first 16x slot with a 16x-16x riser) experienced a small cap explosion (not one of the larger round ones, one of the little rectangle ones near the VRAM heatsink) and the machine failed to post, with card fans all spinning.

At this point I would assume Motherboard or PSU, however, I'm not sure which. I took the 7950 out and tried to boot with the remaining three cards (just in case it was only the 7950) and the machine failed to even spin up anything (made a slight whine and the fans turned maybe 1/4 a rotation).  Luckily no other cards appear to be damaged, however, I don't want to replace the PSU if this is a MB issue.

I would have taken pics, however, the cap is quite small and the pop/sparks only lasted a second or two... no crazy smoke/flames luckily

Interesting to note is this DID happen on both this machine and another, similar config (ASROCK MB but same model PSU, 4 7950's on that one) (complete with losing one cap on one video card), however, I didn't really think anything of it, as the machines both started right back up and continued hashing with no issues apparent. (other than the pop)

The MB is a GIGABYTE|GA-970A-DS3P R
The PSU is an EVGA G2 1300W
4GB DDR3 RAM
AMD 145 CPU

I swapped the PSU with a Dell one I knew worked, and I didn't get any video out (using a different GPU I also knew worked)

I then took the 1300W PSU and connected it to a Dell 745 MB (with the same test graphics card) and everything worked fine.

At this point I assume it's an issue with the MB, however, I don't want a replacement to get here only to damage that if it's the PSU instead.

Also, does anyone know what the cap that blew on my card did? If it was just a ripple cap or something not too essential then I'd rather not RMA it (It's under warranty till 2016 luckily) as that means losing at least 3 weeks or so of mining time :-(
410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 07, 2014, 05:29:54 PM
The FAQ states that the payment cutoff is .001, not .01:

Quote
Payouts happen once a day at 2:30 AM UTC. If your balance is above 0.001 BTC, then you will get paid.

Is this incorrect? Also, what about the lack of balance climb during the data blackout? Are those hashing cycles just lost?
It used to be 0.001, however, H2O changed it around 3 weeks or so ago to 0.01 daily, or 0.001 after 7 days.

The data "blackout" was on the front-end (graphs part) of the website... it didn't affect mining.

The reason your balance hardly jumped during the blackout is most likely because you didn't have any coins to exchange then.

Perhaps coins that were acquired when your rig(s) were offline were exchanged then.

I experienced a fairly linear climb from where my balance was before the blackout to the next data point after graphs came back online
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 30, 2013, 08:10:52 PM
The unexchanged balance is going to surpass the balance Shocked

what is going on? h2o is doing some change in the server or the server is overloaded?
When we were mining DOGE, we were exchanging almost instantly, thus the unexchanged balance remained low. If we are mining other coins then sometimes they take up to 3 days to mature. Those of us with Middlecoin since before DOGE are quite used to it Smiley

That said, hash rates are quite low right now... everything looks fine on my end, but I'm down 2.5MH or so. Most likely our pool luck is low or I'm losing some shares somewhere
412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 29, 2013, 04:27:17 AM
yep, in addition DOGE went down in price, as did most cryptos.

I Would of thought we are mining many different coins, As it seems DOGE is not the most profitable at many times of the day.

For example - Right now its
Netcoin (NET)

Most profitable.
[/quote]

The problem is by the time you switch to mining something else / transferring it into an exchange / selling it, the price often is no longer the same :]
413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 27, 2013, 05:02:33 AM
Yeah, payout tonight looks to be near identical to yesterday with the same hashing power... maybe 5-7.5% lower, but very close. These aren't the first few days of DOGE, however, payout still isn't bad compared to before the November boom
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 25, 2013, 03:44:34 PM
Are the individual graphs automated or do them require admin intervention? I ask this question because the pool graphs seem to update regularly but mine have not been updated since 03:26 UTC (roughly 12 hrs ago). I am neither complaining nor worrying, just curious.
They should update automatically, however, during periods of peak server load (like we've experienced recently with the crazy growth) the graphs often take a few hours to update. If you are near the top of the hashrates (like 5MH/s +) then the graphs tend to update more often. As long as you are submitting accepted shares / getting work from the pool then I wouldn't worry too much about it :]

OK, So which is it?  And how can I figure out my 24hr earnings?

It is 0.01 BTC minimum payouts.  All of my payouts on middlecoin have happened once I reached > 0.01 Balance.

I believe the minimum payout has been changed to .01.  All you can really do is guess at your 24 hour earnings because it depends on too many factors.  You can look at past performance to guess at how much you might make in a 24 hour period, but past performance can never guarantee future performance.  It may be higher or lower.  Sorry for the vague answer, but the question is difficult to really nail down.

Chad

Thx for the answer guys, how the hell do I multi-quote?

So with 400kh/s It's going to take me a week to do .01. I'm not sure I want to stay in this pool that long, how do I get my coins before .01?

,01 is not what I signed up for.

heuristic,

Nice name btw, so what did you expect to make with your puny 400kh/s rig? 10 btc a day? People like you make me laugh. You need to count yourself lucky to make 0.01 a WEEK with your hashrate. Har har har.

It sounds a little harsh when you put it that way, however, the reality is this isn't some get-rich-quick scheme. There was a day when 400kh/s would earn serious BTC, however, we both missed that boat by a long long time... Many people here have invested thousands or tens of thousands into equipment to mine with. Even now with 10MH/s, around 25x your hash rate, payout is still only 0.1-0.2BTC a day.
416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 23, 2013, 07:37:12 PM
Also, I've noticed very slow accepts/min as reported by my miner.

Hashcows it flies, at like 5-10/min but here it's like
Less than 1/min. Is that due to the lack of VARDIFF? My Hashrate seems fine.

Yes it's because of VARDIFF. With it, your difficulty can be as low as 16 and you would constantly be sending in shares. But here it's fixed at 512... you send shares in slower, but they are worth more. (averages out in the end)
Yup, it's done primarily to reduce the server load - even at 512 we were having some issues with the insane growth Middlecoin has experienced over the past week.
417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 23, 2013, 06:15:52 PM
Is it just me or is anyone else getting low accepted rates for the last 48 hours, has the graphs/stats changed maybe its not updating as fast as it used to?

I've come to the conclusion that It's not even worth mining until the switching algorithm is fixed. It's like finding a penny every day. It's been two days, surely it could have been fixed :/
There were some disconnect issues yesterday, however, since then I haven't had any issues. Payout today is already up to 0.1 for me, with 0.22BTC looking like where I'll end up... My hashrate is around 0.5-0.75MH/s under where it should, however, this could just be due to stales / pool variability.

I'll have whatever you're smoking ... 0.1 to 0.22 btc on 500-750 kh/s a day ... just wow Smiley)

Apparently you are already smoking. Read again Wink
Grin I'm running around 10MH/s on Middlecoin right now, however, most of the time I can find myself 9.2-9.6 MH due to stales / rejects :]
418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 23, 2013, 05:27:49 PM

does anyone know why I'm getting these dips in temperature?
They seem to be for only short periods of time and I've only caught it in the act once but the voltages drop, the clock/memory cores drop and therefore the temperature of each card as well.

any ideas?
Most likely this is due to work temporarily not being available from the pool. The dips usually last until the next block is detected, then the cards heat back up :]  The problem is if the machine gets "stuck" idling and doesn't restart work automatically. Having multiple pools should in theory fix this, however, yesterday was still a little rough, with miners needing to be manually restarted.

I have two payments on Dec 22nd that show up on my middlecoin account and paid and appear on blockchain.info but neither payment is showing up in my coinbase account.

https://blockchain.info/address/1278USLSVEgbm9NKjjD3ukt9him5pjnbHi#

my addresses are:

1DwGRqxjR2REtYEZA9dHMmZff61FBaE6q9
19svTW8kV8kGfQyUGn8k4AKGhoooGrH4PG

But when i check coinbase these amounts are not there (was suppose to be paid yesterday). if it shows up on the ledger, doesn't it have to be in the account? why am I missing these payments for both addresses on this date?
I would message Coinbase support about this - If the payment was sent to the correct address and shows up in the blockchain then the pool/you did everything right.

Ok, I will do that. So, just to be clear, if it's in the blockchain ledger, the payment happened? Makes me very nervous that coinbase might have not seen/received my payment...
Yeah, as long as the blockchain shows the transfer, and the address the BTC was sent to matches the Coinbase one (have you received payments to these addresses before through middlecoin?), then unless there was a fork (which we would know about) you should have received your payment. I also receive payments from middlecoin to Coinbase, and last nights came through fine. If you message support and reference the blockchain transaction id then they should be able to look into it / resolve it fairly quickly.
