Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin equal Blockchain?

... So can you view it as blockchain as the engine and bitcoin as the fuel? ... Blockchain is the ledger, bitcoin is the protocol and algorithms. The protocol and algorithms (bitcoin) allows every participant in the network to download and sync an identical/correct ledger (blockchain)

I wonder if BU is aware of the legal implications of a hard fork, forcing a community of investors to accept an incompatible change to the technology they invested in.
If BU succeeds, every Bitcoin holder can probably sue them for their losses.
This is not how Bitcoin works, miners are free to mine whatever they want, investors who just invested and holding can only choose when to sell, so no change for them. If it worked as you claim, Core could be sued for crippling the Bitcoin because many who own Bitcoin cannot use it anymore. There are implications. If I invest in Euro, the fund manager can not convert the fund to Yen. That is not what I invested in, and that is not what I was promised in return for my investment.

I've had enough of a blood drunk Roger Ver slaughtering hes own offspring, and I'm out of popcorn too.
The developers should just apply SegWit like they normally would and move on.
Let Jihan have hes fork. Be it an involuntary one.
Its up to the developers ? Of course it is. The core developers can just apply SegWit to their software if they want

cool story. can i sue Blockstream if Bitcoin loses marketshare to Ethereum due to the high fees they are promoting? No, they are not changing the commodity, and they are open about what they are doing. From what I hear, there could be legal implications to pool mining as well

The protocol should be neutral to a 2nd layer, and I expect competition between several second layer networks over fees. Even better, low end users should be able to participate by running LN nodes, getting a cut of the fees.
That's what I expect from this, and that's why I support SegWit
...removed rant... blockstream get the 1sat's per payment. even funnier part is LN has fixed the fee at % of amount.(which actually limits how many transactions you can make offchain) EG if 1%= 100 payments and literally your money is gone in mostly fee's Sounds like a failure, which would be fine with me. I don't want anything to do with a coin that can not avoid cartels at lowest (central bank) layer. If they can't provide a needed and useful service, they can and should be replaced. That's basically it.

...LN...
Let them do it fairly and with free market dynamics, not unfair advantage of influence over the core repo and intentionally stunting growth on the first layer, which is exactly what they've been doing.

Tried to buys some btc this afternoon and found that I no longer could.
When they launched I registered an account and linked my debit card to the account and was able to make a couple of purchases over the past two weeks. I then removed the card details in order to load another and found that I could no longer do that as only US cards and bank accounts are now allowed.
Anybody else experienced the same?
Hope this get sorted out quickly.
Hope this does not get sorted out ever. Bitcoin purchase against a reversible payment method is NOT a sustainable business model. They created a craze with this which is now calming down as expected. p.s. Bitcoin is supposed to replace credit card in international transactions. Not to be traded against it.Well said. Unfortunately, a lot of newcomers seems to think they need someone else to take them to the moon. Bitcoin is not about the moon, it never was. The moon has nothing to do with it. Bitcoin is here. Now.

There is a big flaw in your uncles logic. When I get this right, he thinks, that satan is working in the shadows, that's why Satoshis identity will never be revealed. But bitcoin is as open as anything could be. How does that mix?
No he just said satan(satoshi in this case) would not reveal himself! I think the open nature of blockchain need not be confused with this Its not that he doesn't want to reveal himself, but you have to be a Borg in order communicate with him

The miners keep a full chain and I believe they would keep the network functional, that said, I believe full nodes help a lot in making the network more efficient at validating transactions and securing a strong majority, which is key.
I also believe solutions has been proposed that will allow people to participate without having the entire block chain, it just hasn't been a priority.

How about the more obvious reasons, like the financial "crisis", bailouts, bankers that seems immune to common laws, lying and corrupt politicians, high taxes and duties, concentration of power, expensive transfer of money, secret trade agreements, rigged markets and last but not least, the revolutionary technology that underpins Bitcoin?
For my own part, it is the Bitcoin technology that makes all the hype in the world seem irrelevant.
Also, its not without reason that governments all over the world is rushing to regulate this strange new thing.
