1  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Leancy Ltd - Bitcoin Investment - 150% Return & 5% Daily Interest (FREE $5 BTC) on: March 05, 2014, 01:36:10 AM
How do I request a refund at this point? Im ok with my initial investment minus withdrawals and transaction fees. This all seems very fishy and I would like my BTC back at this point. Im not speculating as to cause, motive, or anything else. I simply no longer wish to conduct business with Leancy.

Consider this scenario.

I have 1 btc. I buy some ghs on the exchange for say .07btc per ghs. i mine with it for a few days I make some more btc with it. Then sell my position in the exchange because the price of ghs went up to .075.

Its like getting dividends. Also you can trade on the exchange 24 hours a day.

Its not as simple as buy cloudmining from bfl that doesnt even start yet.. it starts right away.

Mind you, it isnt perfect, but you dont have to wait on a preorder set it up wait for shipping pay for electricity, keep your cat off your miner.. etc. it just works.

so that piece of mind is worth a premium alone, but you also get to make profits trading too should you be so inclined.

i lost about 20% there and pulled out. theres serious price manipulation going on. but if youre paying attention you can profit from it too.

Ok, I think you are right but, it isnt the same the last week? you can trade and blablabla but the price was better than this week.

The price isn't as relevant as you would think if you're trading. Volume and price fluctuations matter. If you haven't noticed theres a significant premium being paid on hardware at the moment as well. There is what is being asked, and there is getting it setup functioning and mining in your location on whatever pool you choose. CEX makes this very simple, but like most companies looking to make a profit, they don't do it for free.

I thought I was paying a significant premium for my asicminer blades. Only to find out they're already selling for twice and more than what I paid for them.

4  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [100 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: December 05, 2013, 04:22:26 AM
21027 and 21033 need recalculations, my reward is halved again.

My reward for round 21027 is 1/100 of the usual one. But it has been confirmed already... :-(
+1 - The same here
+1 here as well.

So what is the story with how to get this resolved? I've sent an email, there are several posts here reporting the problem, and I've tried IRC. The actual BTC involved here is negligible, but it isn't confidence inspiring that these problems happen *and* then don't get resolved. Looks like slush hasn't logged in here in over a month. How is one supposed to file a support ticket request with him exactly?

Any news? Or is this just the cost of mining on slushes pool?

So im not the only one getting hosed on multiple blocks.

is there any correction being performed or are we just expected to accept that its the cost of using slushes pool?

I wish I could find a site as good as prime dice, theres a good solid community there.

Can someone explain this to me. This is copy pasted from https://mining.bitcoin.cz/stats/.

20957   2013-11-26 15:52:43   0:02:35   12301112   1191   0.00238445   271627   25.10929891    confirmed

In line 20955, block number 271612 I have a zero payout, but I also obviously mined the block before for over 6 hours, that one for over 4 hours, and the one thereafter for 2 hours.

Why is this block paid at zero? I emailed info@bitcoin.cz already 2 days ago. Ive had no response.

This concerns me because I'm  providing shares to the pool and someone somehow is getting a payout for this block, I checked it on block chain, it was certainly mined by slushes pool.

What am I missing here?

nothing i could do would work on bfgminer or slushes proxy. i had 3 or 4 people working on it with me all much more gifted linux users and miners.

so for now until i nuke and pave this box i am using a cloud based solution proxy. that worked from the first time i tried it. ive already hit a block running these two blades so for now, i am satisfied.

thank you for all of your help, and yes if you are having issues, post, post a lot and frequently, reading through your solutions helps, and it helps a great deal!

Im going to test these out.

Thank you!
11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: November 20, 2013, 06:58:40 PM
I am still having difficulties setting up.

i spent the greater part of last night trying to setup bfgminer on this linux box. it should be very routine but it is not at all.

was directed to here eventually, ive copied and pasted the contents here.
http://eviltechmonkey.com/bfgsource.html

Building and maintaining bfgminer from source on Linux

This command should be valid on both Ubuntu and Debian based distributions including Mint, Crunchbang, and others
Literally copy and paste the entire line while in your home directory (cd ~)

sudo apt-get install git build-essential autoconf automake make libtool pkg-config libcurl4-gnutls-dev libjansson-dev uthash-dev libncursesw5-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libmicrohttpd-dev -y && git clone https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer && cd bfgminer && ./autogen.sh && ./configure && make

That does NOT install it system wide. It simple enables to run bfgminer from within that folder. To install system wide (so it can be run as any user from any folder) type 'sudo make install' in the bfgminer directory AFTER the rest. Some systems may require you to run 'sudo ldconfig' to link your libraries. If 'make install' does not work try that.

To update your installation follow this step and include 'make install' to install system wide again if wanted:
cd ~/bfgminer && git pull && ./autogen.sh && ./configure && make

Optionally, once you have the dependencies installed (everything before the "git clone" portion) you can download the prepackaged tar.bz2 files from BFGminer, unpack, cd bfgminer-***, ./configure, make, sudo make install.

Either method will work. The 'git-clone' method will just give you the latest source.

Lastly, make sure your user is in the dialout group. sudo gpasswd -a yourname dialout
Log out, log back in, open a terminal (if you're in a gui) and type 'groups'. You should be set to mine with most every USB ASIC. Head back to the referring page and go mine.

when i enter
./bfgminer -o stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u username.worker1 -p password -G --http-port 8080
or (port 8332) i get the following error.
--http-port: unrecognized option

ive pretty much been stuck there.

linux distro ubuntu 12.04
bfgminer 3.0.6
i have the current version of libmicrohttpd-dev

everyone in the live help chat at slushes pool is lost too. i really dont know what to do.

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: November 20, 2013, 03:07:29 AM
now trying to figure out bfgminer.

this is the current ppa from unit 3?
https://launchpad.net/~unit3/+archive/bfgminer

so i have that all setup. but i dont know what to do here do i need to put some commands into terminal now?
once i have this cleared up ill post some updates just incase someone else gets into the same boat as me and ends up in 3 to 5 threads looking for answers.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: November 20, 2013, 02:08:00 AM
ok, i most certainly do not have the stratum working correctly.

I can login to slushes pool without any issue now.

can anyone walk me through setting up the stratum proxy on ubuntu 12.04?

the instructions are kind of vague.

i have python installed. im positive. i have the files downloaded and extracted.

these are the instructions i can find.

Installation on Linux

    Download TGZ file from https://github.com/slush0/stratum-mining-proxy/tarball/master
Unpack it by typing "tar xf slush0-stratum-mining_proxy*.tar.gz"
Most likely you already have Python installed on your system. Otherwise install it by "sudo apt-get install python-dev" (on Ubuntu and Debian).
Type "sudo python setup.py install" in the unpacked directory.
You can start the proxy by typing "./mining_proxy.py" in the terminal window. Using default settings, proxy connects to Slush's pool interface.
If you want to connect to another pool or change other proxy settings, type "mining_proxy.py --help".

does "sudo python setup.py install" mean "sudo python ~/filecreatedforstratum/setup.py install"
because if it does... typing "./mining_proxy.py" or "mining_proxy.py --help" does nothing.

terminal does however start giving characters like < rather than the usual ":~$" prompt.

very frustrated at the moment. =/

Hi,

I have two version 2 blades. i have only one connected via ethernet as I am attempting to set it up at the moment. I can access it through my browser when powered on. I have proper cooling and mounting setup already as well as the molex cables to my corsair power supply with ample amperage available.

I cannot figure out how to get stratum working on my ubuntu 12.04 machine. I would really appreciate some help.

I have downloaded the mining proxy. I don't know what to do after this.
I have attempted using the sudo (super user do) commands to install python.
I am lost.

Please help.

Hello,

I have 3 ASICminer blades on the way. I would like to mine with this pool.

I have a dedicated linux machine running ubuntu 12.4.

Ive already read quite a bit. but if there is any advice you can give on say power supply racking and cabling that would be awesome.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: November 08, 2013, 12:10:00 AM
There is alot of volatility in Bitcoin. Im not certain it will I am however hopeful. I've been watching it for over 2 years now. Its been a roller coaster for sure.

Some unrelated things have caused it to crash have been resolved. With anything highly volatile there's great risks and great rewards.

I kick myself for not getting more involved earlier on. But had the 10 dollar coins I could have bought gone to 20 or 50 dollars I would likely have sold my position.

I think wider adoption will be a key motivator in the broader fiat value of the coin. A common but misunderstood philosophy is the coin itself is more valuable than fiat. I recognize this. I tried explaining this to my friend who kind of refuses to understand much of anything yet argues simply on the merits of having a point. I told him to put his money where his mouth is. He's since shut up now that Mt. Gox is trading at above historical levels.  Grin

So, in short I am going to work very hard at simplifying the coin and hopefully broadening the market that accepts it. I really feel bad for late coming miners duped by the asics that are now readily available and essentially killing the mining scene.
