Sad ... and there it is:  block 420000 and the reward halves to BTC12,5.  It was good while it lasted.

But will the halving have much effect on the bitcoin value, which is already riding quite high?

I kinda jumped the gun there, huh.
Sorry, my fault for being ambiguous.

my subjective view is that the pool doesn't actually appear to benefit by mining additional blocks.
By which I meant that the extra hashing power doesn't seem to result in additional blocks being mined – at least, not conspicuously so – but I haven't looked at the figures in detail.

Must be a lot of new hardware going online for the pool. Saw a drastic jump to 76.00 Ph/s. Could've sworn it was 68/69 at least two hours ago.
I saw it reach 82,10 Ph/s at one point, and one block was found when the rate was 81,32.  But every time somebody throws a huge amount of extra power into the mix the only effect seems to be to reduce the amount we get paid per block — my subjective view is that the pool doesn't actually appear to benefit by mining additional blocks. Embarrassed

shilling (1) noun. A coin formerly used in the United Kingdom and some Commonwealth countries, one twentieth of a pound sterling;
(2) gerund. The covert promotion of a product or service under the pretence of being a satisfied customer but with the expectation of reward; e.g. earning payments by enticing the gullible to click on a referral link.

It appears that most of the glitches in the new dashboard layout have been fixed, although the 'Time since' box is still not updating automatically.

When I reported the bugs I also suggested that the reward value fields should display any least significant zeros, as I described in an earlier post; I cannot yet be sure if this has been done, but I suspect it has because the payout threshold field now has the full eight decimal places.

Why has my Estimated Payout Period just jumped to -
46 Years 4 Months !!!!!!!!
It's usually 48 hours.....
I think it's another new unintended 'feature' (see posts 21889 and 21891 above).  Grin

EDIT  corroboration with block withholders  Slush never came out with the type of miners and software being used to attack the pool in which he stated he had communication with the attackers. In which many miners lost btc since it went on for months! Check his blog posts. That alone .. withholding crucial info from the community makes him anything but legitimate!
IIRC he did say that it was custom software, which suggests to me that any such information would be totally irrelevant.

Hey Slush,

I think you have the confirmed reward and unconfirmed reward switched on the main page.

Mine is showing it backwards on both of my accounts.
I'm seeing that too.  But the unconfirmed namecoin dust is apparently being added to the right-hand figure.

I like the new dashboard screen, but I'd prefer all the reward figures to have a fixed number of digits after the decimal point, including any least significant zeros.  I have a mild panic attack when (for example) 0,00821476 becomes 0,0086147 and for just one horrible moment I think it's been nobbled!

Edit: Also, the 'Time since' does not update without a full page refresh, and the recent hash rate graph is broken – only showing the top left one-sixth.

Bitcoin value seems to be going through the roof today.  Now around £340 and still rising fast.  Anyone know why?

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Still dropping – now below 10 Ph/s.  Maybe the recent slip in the BTC value has made some of the big players think hard about the cost of running their rigs, although BTCguild hasn't dropped as much hashing power.

What happened?  Nearly 3 Ph/s has fallen off the pool today.  Still, it has made the divvy-up of the few blocks found worth rather more.

Would it help to set up a proxy for residentd of NYC?
Would it help if somebody smacked the legislators' silly heads?

My miner keep getting disconnected every 10 to fifteen minute......  and after 2 or 3 minute they reconnect   anyone else having that problem......
Could it be an over-heating problem, either on the miner or the PSU?  Check for air-flow outside, fans working, and dust inside – especially if it's near the floor or in the same room as a tumble dryer, wood-working tools, or other dust generator.  Or it might just be a moody phone line.

I have decide that as an experiment(not as a viable income) I would try bitcoin mining, I have two workers working yet on slush`s pool website it says that there is an error. How long, if ever will it take to notice my miners?
Welcome to the forum.

What are you using to mine?  Can you be more specific about the error message?

The so-called "luck" is only a measure of past success

and always averages out.
It ain't necessarily so.  That's the gambler's fallacy.  It assumes that the universe somehow keeps a record of past events in order to even things up, and confuses luck with probability.  In an essentially random system such as bitcoin mining, just because it averaged out in the past doesn't mean it must always do so.

I've been up all night looking at exhaust fans online.
I've heard of football fans, and baseball fans, but...
