21  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Feeding the antminer S3 with 3 pci-e cables? on: August 27, 2014, 12:59:55 PM
I plugged in 4 pci-e cable just so that each cable only need to supply less then 100 watt.
22  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: video about cloud mining on: August 27, 2014, 12:59:01 PM
I'm new to it and actually want to know how it works. A specific video of the whole process of minig  provided will be very appreciated. Mining is a special issue. You can enjoy it but you cannot see or touch it.

None of the cloud mining is profitable, its good to understand but don't jump into it.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is dead my ass... NOT DEAD on: August 27, 2014, 12:57:59 PM
It might not be dead. But the real question is, does it offer something of value?

you can get trade it for usd, so yeah it does offer a value

The value has dropped so much and it is going to continue

25  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL Monarch for 4k...are you serious ??? on: August 27, 2014, 12:56:21 PM
This is sad, some poor sap is selling them for $4k.  It goes 700gh/s....hmm, let me see,  Antminer s3 or BFL Monarch ?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Butterfly-Labs-Monarch-700GH-s-Mining-Cards-IN-HAND-8-25-1st-shipped-NEW-/131278282960?pt=US_Virtual_Currency&hash=item1e90cba0d0

I just checked and the price is down to $1800

Maybe the seller is a member of this forum and he just came across this thread? Cheesy

Even at $1800, it is still overpriced heavily.
26  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Questions about miners and profitability on: August 27, 2014, 12:55:28 PM
Hello, i am new to the forum and have very little mining experience .... i have seen some BFL equipment for sale in my city at 150 $ ([105$]22gh/s miner + [45$]5gh/s miner) ... is this a decent price ? will running these actually yield any profit or would they at least cover the price of electricity that they consume ? Also if they are not profitable for Btc is there any other SHA-256 coins that i could mine for with 27gh/s that would yield profit ?
Thank you

Dont buy anything from BFL, go with antminer, much cheaper and no delays.
27  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will anyone buy a BTC miner now? on: August 27, 2014, 12:54:56 PM
No, not worth to buy BTC miner now.. price dropped and difficulty increasing..
28  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are asic miners really as effective as heaters for the winter? on: August 27, 2014, 12:53:56 PM
Ok, so we have use for those spare miners that would stop being profitable quite soon.

But what about AC? I suppose ACs are much more effecient in warming up a room compared to conventional heater?

The BTU heat generated should be the same since they consume the same energy.
29  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Asic Hardware Miner vs Hashlets on: August 27, 2014, 12:53:21 PM
Hashlet price has went up to $24.99 each, it is no longer profitable to buy.
30  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Gui miner not mining! Help! on: August 27, 2014, 12:51:54 PM
You can probably tell I'm a total noob. The fact of the matter is I installed GUI miner today, have a couple workers registered at Slush's pool. Have a wallet. I entered in my worker data for Slush's pool and GUI miner says it has like 17 Megahashes per second. I'm not expecting to make much profit, but I expect to see something on my account page at Slush's pool. What to do if GUI miner says it's mining but there is no Mhash/second or shares on mining.bitcoin.cz?

Hardware is a Dell Inspiron 17r with Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU (the Mhash/s is like 5! I don't know why...)

Thanks in advance... I know it's a noob question.

You need a much better GPU to work. your HD graphics 4000 going to get you no where..
31  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: August 27, 2014, 10:24:02 AM
Hi guys, i'm not in the mining worl anymore since 5 or 6 months... Right now i see all this pictures of this big guys and their colosus mining rigs..
I can't stop thinking that mining is not profitable anymore.
With this prices, if you buy 6000 usd of bitcoins instead of a miner (KNC) you get real profit when the prices go up again.
Im very sab with this cause honestly i love to make money with all my GPUs. I think the industry f*cked all of us.
Thanks for still supporting Bitcoin and litecoin, and giving us more and more security.

I still have my gpus running x11, already undervolted heavily, undercloack heavily to save electricity.
32  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What PSU you use for your antminer S3? on: August 27, 2014, 10:10:49 AM
I use a corsair cx750m to power 2 s3.

For how long you've been running those?

they are 340W each, so you are pulling 680W from 750W max PSU.
I just want to make sure this head room is sufficient.

Pulling 680w from 750w psu is good, it should last really long if your room isn't too hot.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin end up just like Litecoin? on: August 27, 2014, 09:31:09 AM
Litecoin is a goner too, all the manufacturer mining it and dumping it on market.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining profitability is a joke on: August 27, 2014, 09:29:45 AM
Wouldn't you guys be better off transforming your rigs into the form of a desktop, then selling it as a desktop?

2nd hand desktop price isn't good either. Easier to just sell them 1 by 1.

The profitability for all the coins dropped so much. Time to shut down.

37  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: video about cloud mining on: August 27, 2014, 09:22:28 AM
I'm new to it and actually want to know how it works. A specific video of the whole process of minig  provided will be very appreciated. Mining is a special issue. You can enjoy it but you cannot see or touch it.
I can explain how it works instead:

A company buys a few miners.
They sell the miners mining capacity to people.
You get the share according to the power you've bought.

Yes, this pretty much explain it. But keep in mine that none of the cloud mining is profitable, if it is then they won't sell it to you.

LTC 100$ - soonish! Cheesy When that 1 week Macd is about to turn greenish all hell will break loose.

First, we need more people declaring it dead. Buy when others are fearful. It seems we are on our way just fine.

I wouldn't be surprised if LTC shot up to $30 or so actually. It just needs a little more interest, then boom.

Silver didn't crash after 3 years, did it?

Darkcoin, the next one that would probably shoot up to $30. Smiley
