1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FoxCoin - A Fully dynamic Cyptocurrency [RELEASED! SMOOTH LAUNCH!] on: January 22, 2014, 06:32:51 PM
No pre-mined coin should ever be traded on an exchange.  When exchanges realize all the profit they are missing because of it the practice will stop.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ASR] ASTROCOIN HAS LAUNCHED! MOVE OFF ASR.HASHHUNT.IN to ANOTHER POOL on: January 22, 2014, 07:34:54 AM
Due to the concerns all of you guys had regarding why we launched our pools at 12:00a.m. UTC, our wallets at 1:30a.m. UTC instead of at the planned time of 5a.m. UTC, we felt the need to directly address these concerns to reassure you in Astrocoin. First of all, to all the accusations out there that this early pool launch was somehow an "inside job" or was only for the "inside" people is utter and complete nonsense. In fact, we tweeted exactly 1 hour before we launched the pools that we would do so, the tweet can be found here: https://twitter.com/ASRCoin/status/425764202620280833

Up till that point, a little less than 1.5% of total supply (less than 3100 coins) were pre-mined. At 12 a.m. UTC, we notified the IRC channel on irc.altcoinweb.com #astrocoin and we updated the bitcointalk forum thread here, but it now appears not many paid attention. There were over 30 miners after the first minute of launch and it was a fair start, if you want confirmation, step into the IRC room and verify for yourself. The wallets were soon released 1.5h later at 1:30am UTC. We do understand your concerns and we are sorry for not being transparent enough, but under the given circumstances of that time, we were forced to launch the coin sooner than the initial given launch time. We believe in Astrocoin and our faith remains in it. We've reached a total network hashrate of over 500MH/s within the first few hours of launch, with hundreds of miners and thousands of wallet downloads. We are in the works with some very exciting projects with several people and will be launching services and site where you can use your Astrocoins. We are in the talks with several exchanges and plan to be publicly tradable in the near future looking forward in the next few weeks. We apologize once again if there was any misunderstanding of our intentions or if we caused you to doubt in us. We thank you for all your continued support and we look forward in patience and hope to the very exciting days ahead of us.
Gimme a fucking break.  Coins are launched all the time but for some reason THIS COIN promoted by a bunch of P&D clowns finds 120Mh/s of hashing power in the first hour it launches.

Admit you rented miners to destroy the hashrates and dominate the network for your own personal gain in addition to pre-mining and the insane 3% fee on the primary pool

Of course it was an inside job... they had your source code and nobody else did.  Are you saying your GitHub was hacked? No.  You passed out the code to other pools EARLY and lo-and-behold people started mining immediately.

No exchange should touch this coin if they want to maintain any sort of pride in their site.

This coin is pretty awesome... but I think there's a flaw in it.

The addresses seem to overlap with Bytecoin.  I accidently sent a mining payout to a bytecoin address instead of a betacoin address... and it worked.

There are 1,400+ betacoins currently stuck in the blockchain that will simply magically appear in some person's wallet some day.

I'm guessing my coins are lost, but you should probably fix that so it generates uniquely stamped addresses. Smiley

Sounds improbable, no offense.
Can you please provide more detailed description of events that made you think so. Thank you.
My apologies, I triple checked what was going on and I made a mistake.

I should wait until morning to complain about things instead of in the middle of the night. Smiley

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: iSpace SHA256 Mining Pool Support Thread on: December 13, 2013, 08:45:34 AM
I sent a few support requests and I know you guys have been busy getting things running properly, but I've got an entire day and a half worth of mining profits that vanished because I entered an invalid betacoin address and your system never returned my coins.

This is a nasty bug in your pool software.  Would you mind taking a peek, please?

Roughly 128 days remaining.

Are you excited?

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] official NovaCoin thread - the original PoS+scrypt coin. --POOL LIST-- on: November 26, 2013, 09:04:28 PM
BTC-e got the "premine" then publicly destroyed it.
Link?  Proof?

Crypto is founded on being trustless.  Suspicion is healthy.

It makes no sense that any free market would be consistently less than 10%-20% FMV....unless it was being manipulated to collect fees from arb'ing.

Now suddenly one coin breaks away suddenly and for no conceivable reason, and a coin that has a history with that exchange.

If something smells like shit, it probably is.  There's too many exchanges and too many coins without that kind of baggage.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=144158.0

There we go.  Finding when people do shitty things is easy.  Finding when people actually clear things up is difficult.

I appreciate the help.  Thank you.

I'm still curious as to a trading strategy which is beneficial for placing hundreds of automatic buy orders for 0.1 when the fee is so high if it is not BTC-e manipulating the market.

Again, thanks for clearing up the issue regarding the 100k pre-mined novacoins.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] official NovaCoin thread - the original PoS+scrypt coin. --POOL LIST-- on: November 26, 2013, 07:56:09 PM
I'd like to see proof of that if you have it.  I don't believe that Novacoin has been to $20USD before.  Am I missing something?  How would you have seen those open orders to say such a thing?

Novacoin hasn't been to $20 before, this is correct. I didn't mean that those orders were in the book before today. What I meant is that somebody uses a trading bot to create those orders on the fly (they would be very tedious to enter manually). He's been doing it for a long time and I don't think anybody pays much attention to it, I certainly don't. It's the big orders that move the market.

In case you didn't know it, you can view a larger part of the order book here than on BTC-e itself:

http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/orderbook.php?pair=nvc-btc&market=btc-e
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/orderbook.php?pair=nvc-usd&market=btc-e
Again, those are closed orders.  BTC-e doesn't supply an API of open orders, if I am not mistaken.

You also assume a lot of trust.  If BTC-e is manipulating the market I highly doubt they would leave a trail in their publically exposed APIs.

I have a little more faith in criminal enterprise than that, especially with this much money on the line.

If there was no pre-mine then BTC-e isn't currently sitting on $2.5mil USD in novacoin for which they created the value... amirite?

Or BTC-e is lying about Novacoin developers bribing them to offer NVC on the exchange.

Which is it?

I think this is a fundraiser for BTC-e in anticipation of BTC reaching over $1,000.  A lot of folks are going to cash out and cash out big.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Novacoin price collapses today.

The orderbook you checked is probably closed orders.  Check the open orders.

Check the BTC-e orderbooks.  They are manipulating the price.

Scam is 100% accurate.  If you support this coin you are hurting cryptocurrencies.
