681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] NEMstake tokens are listed on Nxt asset exchange on: June 11, 2014, 06:35:20 AM
NXT ticked me off by being closed source.

NXT has been open source for a long time now.

Nxt never was really closed source for those who wanted to look, the original java files were unobfuscated code and could be decompiled.

The point was they went out of their way to try and hide.

I hope NEM follows a clear transparent path.

If Nem released the source code immediately, they would be cloned  a few dozen times within a week. Maybe someone will launch it even before Nem is officially launched if the source code is released during alpha/beta.

it's bad idea to release the code before Nem is  at least established as unique new crypto

How long does it usually take gdex to process a NXT withdrawal request?

Use cryptsy next time. I used them today and man was it smooth.

Did cryptsy really resolve their withdrawal problems?
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] NEMstake tokens are listed on Nxt asset exchange on: June 10, 2014, 07:07:13 PM
Seems like there's still roughly 600 Nemstakes available to be claimed, with the first 400 going to 3 kinds of people - NEM enthusiasts, NEM whales and NEM early dumpers.

I'm guessing not everyone follows this thread or the development of NEM on a daily basis, there's still probably a large amount of people who are on the stakeholders list and don't know about the NXT AE or have yet to claim them, but that's pure speculation on my part.

Are there any statistics available on the amount claimed vs. the amount sold on the NXT AE?  I would like to know how many people claimed a NEMstake just to hold.  The higher the number the better in my opinion.

The early dumpers are a good thing as it gets rid of people who aren't that interested in the development of NEM and just want to cash out, but several accounts holding more than 2 NEMstakes doesn't bode well for the NEM either.

The distribution model is one of the better things NEM has going for it.  I'm wondering if the NXT AE has ruined that to a certain extent. If it turns out that only a dozen or so guys are holding 10 plus stakes than this discourages new members joining this community.  That's not what anyone wants to see as far as the long term success of this coin is concerned.

Thoughts from anyone more informed than me would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I think the NXT exchange was a good idea for latecomers, but i didnt like how the prices were pumped up so high, i also have read that some people were able to claim NEM stakes for only 40 NXT before being listed on the AE.
It was my fault for buying into the FUD about NEM and was advised by many that i paid too much for it at 15K, so i sold it thinking it was going to drop in value.
Now im going to have trouble buying one, i should have kept it.

I remember telling you in Nxtforum that since you already bought a stake, whatever the price, you should forget about it and wait for the launch before deciding what you want to do.

#edit: Good idea, kikeda, to calculate the coins per day. We have added that to the wiki page (http://wiki.exocoin.org/index.php?title=Mining).

Can we move the start of mining to 4000 block?
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PoS+PoW] eXocoin [EXO]-gen 2.0- dev. from scratch! Give-Away | Open Beta on: June 09, 2014, 08:49:11 PM
We need GPUMiner.Only CPUMiner will dump the exo to da hell.

If i understand correctly, mining EXO will differ from other coins.

yes it will be.but a cpu only coin is the worst case here.
botnet and cloud servers will kill the price quickly.thats unacceptable.

Devs could tell us more about mining and how the deal that problem, which you mentioned.

 the mining algo is defined , you can learn it from http://wiki.exocoin.org/index.php?title=Mining , http://wiki.exocoin.org/index.php?title=green_mining

 quote from here
"Features
   Green mining technology (saves procentually more energy the more hashpower you have [0-95%])
   Solo-mining only (no pools will be created for eXocoin and they are in fact a (slightly) disadvantage over solo-mining)
   CPU und GPU mining possible, GPU otimized
   mining time frame: 6 months, thereafter mining will stop completely
"

According to the mining progress , the dev team only completed CPU mining, so we want to ensure the GPU mining is ok before starting mining, or else CPU miner dump the coin seriously.

how many coins are produced through mining every 24hours?

"Mining will start automatically with block ID=2,000 and will stop automatically after block ID=28,000. So there will be 26,000 blocks * 10 min per block = 180 days = 6 months. ID=2,000 will be reached after nearly 14 days after launch.
The mining process will spread exactly 50,000,000 EXO - spreading will follow this ruleset:
if(blockId < 2000) return 0;
if(blockId < 2100) return 100;
if(blockId < 2500) return 250;
if(blockId < 3000) return 500;
if(blockId < 4000) return 900;
if(blockId < 7000) return 1400;
if(blockId < 12000) return 1700;
if(blockId < 15000) return 2000;
if(blockId < 19000) return 2200;
if(blockId < 22000) return 2300;
if(blockId < 28000) return 2390;
else return 0;"

So it is non linear and mining will heavily focus on last months.
28 days after launch would be better.
e.g. 4000 blockId as start point for mining would be awesome.  Grin

Agreed. Lets give early investor some breathing room and let prices settle. 4000  bloccks

Here are three examples of how proper NXT passphrases should look like:

Code:
LA9>9QZ7N[K3zoUvBbK76;}EeFyNB{.W3x4K=DDvZ7@L7=n,ip

Code:
w]K6%t6M8}o2Y;9>mGCy7b{6xy9^BECAiUs9(VR/pKXDUT(9HF

Code:
g,N*T93mw*QCJ@Bu82yc8WY]JEj[DC/7YdYQH8v%4Pqiw&%7B3

Does a password manager protect against keyloggers?

yes they do.. i use keepass.. even when you copy paste from keepass the keelogers cant get it..

Keylogger will capture all copy & paste. Use Auto-Type Obfuscation instead with keypass

in seriousness if you have a keylogger on your system, you are already in serious trouble as it can steal the encrypted files

Use something like https://www.malwarebytes.org

Thanks, but can i purchase it online using the online wallet (this is where i am having difficulty just trying to find  a buy button)? or is downloading a client necessary,

There is no online wallet with asset exchange fully implemented yet.

You need this wallet which is easy to install http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/

My bids at half the IPO prices still await yummie yummie  Grin

We did not have an IPO, that was a call to participation.

This is pure semantics though. People paid to get a stake -- same as all other IPOs on BTT.
691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: June 09, 2014, 09:01:05 AM
how much more expensive is it to buy it off the asset exchange, comapred to when it was released?

It will definitely be more expensive once it's released and is on exchanges. How much more? Hard to say. That will all depend on dumpers.
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NFDv2] No IPO - NXT fork - NFD distribution on: June 09, 2014, 08:59:04 AM
Hi Guys,

I have received PM and checked my Hash which is correct, i do not understand though how to check my AccountId and my RSAccountId

Do I need to log onto the test system to check this, sorry if this is an obvious question for most Smiley

Thanks

If you already have Nxt, just use the password there to test it. If your account ID match with the one in the list, it's correct
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: June 08, 2014, 06:31:52 PM
Some people on the asset exchange have upwards of 12 stakes.  I saw multiple accounts with over 10 just scanning through. Some big holders are beginning to form.

This is to be expected on the NXT AE, but I think it's only possible to claim 2 stakes once NEM is officially launched to avoid such hoarding.

Can someone who's more well informed verify that this is in fact the case.  Thanks in advance and dev's keep up the great work!

Well, two stakes per NXT account, but that's easily avoidable. Just makes it more difficult for the whales to cash out their NEM.

Two stakes was pretty pointless rule introduced, as not only it's easy to create more Nxt account, but there is no way you can ever stop any whale from buying large amount of nem, even after it's officially released.
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHARE]ShareCoin - Pure POS - The only coin backed up by a real bussiness on: June 08, 2014, 06:16:17 PM
Hmm, that would be nice to have someone taking over the previous developer and maintain this coin.

I wouldn't mind doing that. But, someone made a good point... zip has access to a large percentage of the coin due to the FeeShare purchases and the SHARE locked for interest. So, keeping the coin going is only going to help zip.

I could start a new coin with the same code and specs if it is still available. But, since the original web site is gone, I can't even grab the information of all the original people that the "SHARE" was delivered to.

However, maybe I could do it based on the block chain and have people sign a message with their SHARE wallet to prove their address and distribute the new coin to them. Not sure if there is any interest in this. However, I wouldn't create an exchange. There are plenty of those out there.

If community agrees, then these coins can be removed from the system.

its self moderated thread so every post is deleted that says anything like what i have posted! check the link above!

NxtChg is not Zip though. He wrote RS address format for Nxt

well if that aint a scam?HuhHuh?? seriously?Huh? why have a self moderated thread for a coin if it aint a scam? and why could he not explain to me why he deleted it and instead deleted that too?? are you sure its not just someone impersonating him?

I don't know if his coin is scam or not, but I am pretty sure NxtChg is the same person who wrote RS address format for Nxt

There were a couple assets bigger than NEM but they were entirely within the NxT system, e.g, NxT holders buying the new assets (NxT to assets).  NEM, although hosted on the same asset exchange, brought in new people who were paying premium prices for NxT in order to buy NEM (BTC to NxT to NEM).

Sianote was a third party IPO. The issuer made like close to 2 million Nxt in two or three days, and developer ended the IPO
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: June 07, 2014, 05:55:51 PM
I agree with your conclusion.  People are buying NxT at a premium (rushing) to trade for NEM, this has an upswing effect on NxT.  As we  are seeing now, as volume declines for NEM (went from 4 million to 3.5 million), this coincides with a decrease in NxT value as the number of people looking to buy on premium is on the decline at the moment.

Here is amount of AE volume in last 30 days

http://www.cryptoassetcharts.info/assets/info

As you can see there a lot of other assets that had big volume (bigger or just as big) as Nem

NEM Beta will include some special features. Even NEM open Alpha will likely include special features that are not in other coin's launch. For example: NIS codes for secure messaging have been completed and just need GUI to be on Open Alpha. Secure messaging is not even in Nxt NOW 9 month after the coin launch. Talk about the difference between one system's alpha and the other system's so-call advanced stage.

So no one complains that I took a dig at Nxt ? Surprisingly ;-)

I will be happy too. "Secure" is not a correct word. You probably meant "encrypted messaging". Nxt messages are "secure" but not "encrypted" in the core. They chose to not implement encryption in Nxt core and let clients come up with their own encryption scheme.   At least one client had implemented encrypted  messaging 4 months ago. Of the new clients, OffSpring does it too. Wesley is planning to implement  it too with his client.

"Secure" is confused usage of the word in above quote

700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MASTERCOIN VS NXT on: June 06, 2014, 07:14:29 PM

But NXT AE has also released NEM, which is worth more than all the other assets on the AE put together.

This can't be true. I remember sianote (another IPO) made close to 2 million nxt in like 3 or 4 says days, He ended the IPO pretty fast though as he met his goal.

NxtAT got close to 2 million Nxt very fast too

By volume for the last week. http://nextblocks.info/#section/assets_exchange/12465186738101000735

This is volume for 30 days
