Will you release the code on github during the launch ?

Yes, of course I will!

I will answer some wuestions and update the opening post with additional detailed info tomorrow Smiley
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][BDC]The birth of BLACK DRAGON COIN: unique scrypt-jane fantasy coin on: March 19, 2014, 07:11:17 PM
We will try to start with high NFactor = 10 (or maybe a bit lower), so the gpus will have almost the same scrypt-jane hashrate as on scrypt coins (slightly above on 7970/280x).

1. Guys with big farms rape this coin at start, may be need highter N-factor and make more CPU-frendly coin at start?
2. Where start date?

Hix, did you read the first post? I think about fair start for more than a month and made a concept scheme I'm gonna release and there is some details.

Can you please explain how big farms will rape it? I posted a strategy that IMO will at least provide a little protection from big farms. And if you are worried about big farms, maybe you have a good advice?

Scrypt-jane can be gpu-friendly OR cpu-friendly (at really high n-factor). CPU coin = coin for botnets (you can check cpu-only heavy coin that is being raped by cpu botnets. They mine all coins and dump them. I was mining that coin at the very start of pool mining and one day hashrate just increased from 1.5 gH to 15-20 gh, from 30-50 diff to 600). That's why I'm doing a gpu-only coin that will be protected from scrypt-asics as well.
764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][BDC]The birth of BLACK DRAGON COIN: unique scrypt-jane fantasy coin on: March 19, 2014, 03:24:10 PM
tylerderden, kingscrown, MisO69, midnight_rgs, scrototeabaggins, BitRock, zakorus, Cryptosapiens, Hundsstern, Vann, sikman, Wolv, thanks for your support. I'm working hard to release a good coin and I'm glad to get positive feedback.

If you really wanted a fair launch you would make the first 1000 or 2000 blocks low reward if doing a ninja launch.
100 blocks at very low diff will pass in 1 min or less. At the normal low starting dif blocks come in sometimes 10 per second.
Ninja launches give the dev and friends max instamining opportunity.

Well, it's a good comment. I will try to explain my launch concept. I did not post many technical aspects. We will try to start with high NFactor = 10 (or maybe a bit lower), so the gpus will have almost the same scrypt-jane hashrate as on scrypt coins (slightly above on 7970/280x). There will be 2 diff retargets during the first 100 blocks (with minimal rewards), lets say every retarget difficulty will increase by 200% (we didn't set the retarget parameters right now, I think it will be 200-300% max increase for solomining period). So with the max 200% diff growth we will have:

starting: 0.00024414
retarget at block  50: 0.00073242
retarget at block 100: 0.00219726
retarget at block 150: 0.00659178
retarget at block 200: 0.01977534
retarget at block 250: 0.05932602
retarget at block 300: 0.17797806

So as you can see even 200% max diff increase is pretty aggressive. After the launch there will be 10 minutes delay before I will release the passwords so many miners will prepare for mining and I expect that the diff will grow up really fast. It cannot be " I will do some tests and maybe we will set low reward for 1-200 or 1-300 blocks instead of 1-100 variant. I'll do several tests to set the final values.
I'll be glad if you can give some ideas how to make launch better. I also can be wrong somewhere.

Also i know several HUGE farm owners run scripts that monitor these ann threads so they they are alerted as soon as a ninja launch starts.
Of course most huge farms only mine coins they think will bring them a big profit so they don't bother with every ninja launch.

The simple notify option works good too, I use and I spotted some ninja launches. Sometimes it doesn't work for me Sad
It must be not so fast to switch big farm to solomine scrypt-jane with custom miner settings (not to default scrypt coin). But my main point is that ninja launches provide overall better protection from mega farms than scheduled launches.

Also what is the total minting for this coin??

DBC will have unlimited mining as dogecoin. I will calculate approximate annual coin volume soon.
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][BDC]The birth of BLACK DRAGON COIN: unique scrypt-jane fantasy coin on: March 18, 2014, 06:06:41 PM
Thanks for the kind words guys!

Please give exact instructions on how to mine your coin with various mining methods. (GPU/CPU)

It will be a GPU coin, scrypt-ASIC resistant (custom N-factor). I believe that ASIC resistant coins will be very important soon because of scrypt-ASIC mass production (that will happen soon or is happening right now).

I respect the ninja launch idea but can you give us a window of a time when it might happen?

I cannot give you approximate day or time because it will ruin the concept of ninja launch. As I stated in the opening post, I will launch the coin by making a forum post with password protected wallets/conf settings/miner link with the popular gpu settings/detailed solo mining guide and release the passwords for wallets after 5-10 minutes when people will be prepared to mine. I think it will be Europe evening time when the most forum members are awake/online.

The artwork reminds me of HoMM. I'll mine just because of that.  Cheesy

Wink
766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [PRE-ANN][BDC]The birth of BLACK DRAGON COIN: unique scrypt-jane fantasy coin on: March 18, 2014, 09:16:21 AM
Dear guest,
Welcome to the Black Dragon Coin thread. Stay awhile and listen!

My name is Nickolas and I'm a fantasy fan. I think fantasy inspires people and brings them new ideas. I witnessed the golden age of computer games (M&M, BG, HoMM, Fallout etc), read many fantasy novels (Ursula K. Le Guin is my favourite), played MTG a lot of time. I'm sure that there are a lot people here with the same world view, people who share similar values as mine. This coin is for you. I will launch a coin that will bring innovations and real benefits for users and will form a strong community.

Why Black Dragon? Dragons are the most powerful and intelligent fantasy creatures. And they love coins, especially gold ones. And I just love dragons. To my mind, the black dragons are the most powerful, wise and dangerous among all dragons. Black Dragon Coin symbolizes the most fascinating aspects of fantasy universe.

Main goal: build a secure cryptocurrency with a blockchain secured by a big number of decentralized GPU farms, become leading Scrypt-Jane coin (Scrypt-Jane is ASIC and CPU botnet resistant), form a strong community and provide excellent development support!

1. Good specs combo:
  • Unique innovate reward system: unpredictable dice roll bonuses with critical hits (see the table for explanation)
  • Scrypt-Jane with Adaptive N-factor (SHA-3 (keccak512) + ChaCha): cool & secure algo, scrypt ASIC and CPU resistant, flexible N-factor
  • Antidump protection: mined coins get confirmed only after 1000 block confirmations, miners will get the mined coins after ~33,3 hours
  • Wise block time: with 2 minutes block time the transactions are fast (12 minutes for 6 confirmations), but shorter block time will increase the amount of orphaned blocks and will make the coin easier to attack
  • Advanced difficulty retarget: Dark Gravity Wave implemented, lowered block times for 1-1000 blocks to allow solomining and minimum block rewards for blocks 1-200 to avoid instamining
  • Smart reward halving: every ~70 days, early miners won't get huge advantage, inflation is limited

Block Distribution: Proof of Work
Algorithm: Scrypt-Jane with Adaptive N-factor
Block time: 120 Seconds/2 minutes
Difficulty Retarget: own implementation of Dark Gravity Wave
Confirmations: 6 Confirmations per transaction, 1000 confirmations for mined blocks
Block rewards:
Block 1- 200:                            1      + 1d4
Block 200-50,000:                 100 + 1d20 (20 roll is critical hit: block reward doubles and miner gets another 100 bonus coins)
Block 50,000-100,000:        50   + 1d16 (+ 1/20 chance to get double rewards)
Block 100,000-150,000:      30   + 1d8  (+ 1/20 chance to get double rewards[/b])
Block 150,000-200,000:     20   + 1d6  (+ 1/20 chance to get double rewards)
Block 200,000+:                    10   + 1d4  (+ 1/20 chance to get double rewards)
Premine: 1.5 % of 1 year mining period for coin development and support

Explanation of a reward system: See picture

Approximate number of coins for the first year and for the next years of mining:
First year   ~ 14,571,761 bdc
next years   ~ 3,258,720 bdc a year
Approximately 720 blocks a day. (1440 mins a day, 7200 blocks = 10 days, 50k blocks (block halving interval) = ~70 days)
[/font]

2. Fantasy coin philosophy:
  • Rpg elements for rewards & overall fantasy orientation
  • A beautiful fantasy art (desktop wallpaper) every week and more surprises by 2 pro artists from our team
  • Fantasy art (dragon themed) and short story contests every month
  • Community brainstorming

3. Development plan:

Short term (1-2 weeks)
  • block explorer
  • beautiful site with background art
  • alternative coin logo with asian dragon
  • custom fantasy wallet design
  • trading on poloniex, start mintpal voting

Middle term (3-6 weeks)
  • adding more functionality to the wallet: BDC exchange price etc
  • online game cd-key shop that will accept BDC & more merchant adoption
  • major exchange: Mintpal
  • scrypt/SHA-256 multipool for BDC support
  • manufacture T-shirts with best BDC arts

Long term (8-36 weeks)
  • custom BDC wallet (multibit-like)
  • online crowd funding service that will accept BDC to support different fantasy projects (such as computer games/table games/ccg)
  • computer game & other fantasy projects that will use BDC
  • manufacture more items with BDC arts

Ninja launch based on when all aspects of BDC are ready:
  • I will post wallet download links with password protected archives and virustotal link (to prove that the wallet is clean), conf settings and after 10 minutes I will post the passwords on forum/Twitter/Facebook
  • I will post miner links (ATI and NVIDIA) + some basic settings
  • I will make a detailed step-by-step video windows solomining guide
  • I will launch the coin when more users are online (Europe evening time)
  • Blocks 1-200 will have minimum rewards: 1+1d4 to avoid instamining
  • 1-1000 blocks will have reduced block time to allow solomining (launch party)
  • Official pool with random rewards support is ready, it will be opened when it will become difficult to solomine
  • I will post big bounty list & pool/exchanges politics/requirement and will start a smart giveaway

Here's the preview of our first wallpaper art (also used as a splashscreen for wallet), it will be available in following resolutions:

Standard/4:3 : 1024x768 1280x1024 1600x1200
Widescreen/16:10 : 1440x900 1920x1200 2560x1600
HD/16:9: 1920x1080 2560x1440

LOL no premine. So who will get the 1st block?

Can you please stop making shit coins?

Sorry these are the Infomation about the Coin. Block 1 is gone, i don't know who has mined it. We haven't PREMINED.
As I said in your original thread you are a liar.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=518275.0

The ONLY reason why you would make the 1st block worth 1000x more than the other blocks is so you can insta-mine your own shitcoin and dump it the second it hits an exchange. Nothing to see here, just another scam shitcoin coin of the day.

No i haven't lied i now start to mine about 10h after the first block and no instamine

So what is the purpose of that huge 1st block if you didn't mine it (or your friend/partner etc)? Stop kidding. It is called premine no matter who got the block (usually it goes to the dev to support the coin) Smiley
770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PSD] PresidentCoin the new AltCoin not only for US on: March 16, 2014, 05:02:51 PM
no windows wallet at launch = fail

Sorry that we don't had a Windows PC but you can download the SourceCode and make one for you and post the .exe here

Is it a joke?

Btw, Block 1: 500,000 PSD - it's not a premine? Why do you say that you have no premine?
771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][GECK]GecKOIN. STOP. on: March 16, 2014, 10:39:43 AM
This seems rather.. odd..

First you denounce IPOs and premine, followed by stating there will be an IPO and thus premine.

You'll really have to elaborate on what is going on here.
As said on main post, we don't want an IPO. Ironically speaking, our IPO is only your feedback. Nothing more, nothing else. And of course, no premine.

That makes no sense at all. Do you know what an IPO is?
Do you know what is a joke? Relax. We don't want to steal anyone. I'm like you.

Well, joke is your "blueposts" and your engrish.
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][GECK]GecKOIN. STOP. on: March 16, 2014, 09:59:39 AM
LOL, no IPO on the picture and you plan an IPO? Same with scam?  Grin

SHA-256,  Scrypt or  KECCAK - no comments, you must decide yourself. it's all very different story.

Logo is just ugly, make a better one. To summarize, fix everything.

se[c], how can you be a foxcoin dev if you registered almost after month from the start of the coin and you simply have no posts about foxcoin? Maybe you lie about that? And also calling a person without proof is not good. You didn't post the exchange. If the exchange has any kind of problems with somebody, exchange owner must contact that person DIRECTLY and not use strange 3rd party members like you with fresh reg date and few posts.

Most important thing: if you call a person a thief (or you state that his computer was used to do a hack), you MUST post all proof info.

Exchange that has got bad protection and hides the fact that they were hacked is shit exhcange. Post all proof info including wallets and other detais or apologize and GTFO!

Good logic you have there - assuming that you can only be a coin developer before or during its launch. Unfortunately for you this thinking is incorrect. I joined the development team after its launch, but I don't see the point in explaining this to you as it has nothing to do with the situation at hand.

As to the more important questions you raise - perhaps you're confused as to how this thread was started. Instead of pendolf2008 responding to me privately about the incident he decided to make a public thread. For what? I have no idea. I don't know whether he did it out of fear, I don't know whether he did to have an alibi and have his friends defend his reputation. But the point is I didn't make any public posts about the situation until he began this nonsense of publicly discussing the issue.

I have provided logs of the attacker, containing his IP address and containing the other IP addresses and username he used on the exchange. He used the same account and IP address to exploit a vulnerability and sending BTC out of the exchange.

And your logic is also flawed in the sense that you think that having a registered account with a lot of posts, or an old registration date proves somehow someones integrity. Sorry to disappoint you by pointing the flaw in this but there are many known cases of older accounts with Hero status scamming people out of money. It is true my account is relatively new, but I've been lurking on the forums for several years. I simply didn't have a need to create an account or post to threads at the time until now.

As for the Exchange contacting him - they did. They even called him directly. But he hangs up the phone. How can they communicate with someone who hangs up the phone at the mentioning of stolen Bitcoins?

How about you sit back and analyze the full situation before you make these ridiculous posts defending someone you have no idea did or did not in fact steal the BTC. In his other posts he made reference to the possibility that maybe his Wifi or computer were compromised. Have you asked him about auditing his router/computer for signs of intrusion? Or are you simply and blindly going to believe him at will?

All he has to do is privately respond back to me, and we can actually move forward on figuring out what happened. If he didn't do it, so be it. But clearly he's tied to the theft in some way.

Thanks for your opinion on the matter.

Look, I make my conclusions based on theory of chances. You have no useful/informative posts about foxcoin. If you are a developer, you most likely be somewhat active on forum. If you just contributed somehow to the coin development, you're not the dev. So my point is that there are few to no chances that you are foxcoin dev (btw this title gives a lot of respect!). A person with hero reputation might be a scammer, but chances are way lower than a newbie might be a scammer.

The fact you do not provide any strong evidence (other than strange logs and words) just make you look like a scammer. Post a wallet that got stolen btc. Post the exchange name. It must be a really bad situation for users if the exchange lost btc and do not let everybody know about that!!! (just like gox)
774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Hirocoin - X11 Next Gen Crypto Currency - Launch Now - Start Mining on: March 15, 2014, 02:33:42 PM
At 1 min block time, 15k blocks on low diff = over than 10 days of normal mining with KGW. It's too big instamine. The coin might be good, but why did you set so slow diff retarget? Make it 1500 blocks before kgw and everything is good, but 15k blocks???

It's an obvious scam. This guy got really nervous when you found the Kenneth Bjørke name. Is it "BlockEruptor 2" scenario? I hope it is and he (Kenneth Bjørke) will return ALL COINS really soon, manually or via scrypt.

I don't have any funds on coinmarket, but I checked the site almost every day and was surprised that it takes so long to repair/fix it. It looks the same as GOX when it was "fixing problems".
